Want to develop your coaching and mentoring skills?
Business in the Community is working with Wolverhampton City Council on an exciting range of activities to support participants
who are furthest from the job market into work. The programme, focusing on refugees and migrants participating in Wolverhampton
City Council’s Languages at Work scheme, is looking to mobilise businesses across Wolverhampton to help participants move

Careers Conversations
As part of this project we are looking to engage businesses to set up our Careers Conversations in Wolverhampton, to support
residents with English as a second language to improve their language and employability skills to gain work. As a Careers Buddy you
would be partnered with an ESOL learner from Wolverhampton for 6 weeks.
What would you do?
Practice conversation with ESOL learners and support them to search and apply for jobs, prepare for interviews and
gain confidence.
What’s in it for you?
Developing others is deeply rewarding, practicing these skills with new demographics will enable you to enhance your
communication and coaching skills, and gain a better understanding of the diversity in our local community. You will also
be trained in basic ESOL teaching techniques.
Who can take part?
Anyone can volunteer – you will receive training and support throughout the programme, providing you with the teaching,
assessment techniques, methods and resources you need.
When is it?
We are looking to start this programme in Wolverhampton in February 2018- March 2018, with opportunities to engage
on an ongoing basis.
Where?
This will be hosted at a business in Wolverhampton once a week for six weeks. If you are interested in hosting the
programme, please contact us.
