PERSONAL PROFILE
My ambition is a career in project management and I would like to work during the 2016 Easter holidays (12th
April – end of April) to gain work experience.
I am an undergraduate studying English Language and Linguistics at the University of Kent.
The course has emphasized the importance of communication and negotiation skills, which I believe to be
essential for managing people and businesses. Furthermore the demanding nature of the course with its
extensive deadlines has meant that I have adjusted my organisational skills accordingly - skills which are
essential for meeting business deadlines efficiently and on time.
This profession attracts me as I like the communicative aspect of negotiating with a wide range of people.
Moreover I like the idea of a job that will challenge both my logical thinking skills and organisational abilities –
something that many jobs do not. Therefore I hope I will be able to be considered for work experience as I
believe experiencing the profession will gift me a true representation of the field in which I hope to become
part of.

SKILLS
[1] Communication
I have gained Communicative skills from studying a degree which is partially moderated on one’s ability to
deliver presentations and work in group situations. This has not only given me the confidence to speak
publically but it has also taught me the importance of successfully engaging with a wide variety of people.
[2] Time Management
From working at previous jobs I have learnt the importance of time management. For example when working
at the Spar I would be expected to complete numerous jobs in an allocated time slot. These jobs would
include; dealing with the food deliveries, serving customers and price checking certain food items. Although
seemingly straight forward I would have to make sure that the jobs were done efficiently and correctly.
Therefore I learnt to allocate more time to the jobs that I considered the most time consuming.
[3] Leadership
I am fundraising to climb Machu Picchu and I am planning a ‘pub night’ in London. Within my team I was
chosen to lead with responsibility to find a venue and company sponsor. I believe that my willingness to
listen to people’s advice and offer suggestions meant that our group was successful.
QUALITIES
 Patience
From working with children at a school in Lincolnshire I had to show patience with some of the more
challenging children in the class. When reading they would often get distracted so I would have to listen
to what they were saying and encourage them to continue.
 Independence
When working at the butchers I would have to work outside in the courtyard. The work would entail sorting
out the fridges and cleaning the courtyard. Due to the rest of the staff working in the shop I would have
to complete the work independently and at a reasonable standard.
 Initiative
During my time at the Misbourne School I was selected to take part in the Sorrel Foundation scheme.
Having been allocated the role of team leader it was my responsibility to find a way to make sure the whole
school was involved. Using my initiative I organised a school assembly and came up with the idea of linking
the art work to the theme of ‘The River Misbourne’.
