2. What is plan selection

3. • In your first year of study most of you were “undeclared”.
• Exceptions: Fine Art, Music and Kinesiology students.
• As you enter your 2nd year, you now need to decide what
program and plan (major) you want to pursue.
But how do I figure out what I want to study or
if I am eligible?

4. Be Informed
Arts and Science Students entering 2nd year must participate in the plan selection process.
Not sure what major you want to choose?
• Attend Majors Night on February 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in Grant Hall

• Attend departmental information sessions or visit the department for information on
their plans.

I’ve decided on my major…now what?
• Access SOLUS any time between May 11 and 22 to request your plan.
• Plan selection is NOT first-come, first served BUT…
• Each time you are accepted into a plan that change will be written to your
student record and your transcript.
Let’s get started by signing in to your SOLUS Student Centre.

6. Click the drop down arrow and select Program/Plan selection
Access SOLUS Student Centre

7. Always choose an
Honours Program (eg.
BAH, BSCH, BCMPH)
Enter the major,
specialization or medial
you want.
HINT: type in the first few
letters (eg. POLS) and then
click the looking glass.
Press Enter on your keyboard BEFORE Continue if you want
to add a Minor.

8. If you wish to add a
Minor to your Major,
enter it here.
HINT: type in the first few
letters (eg. HIST) and then
click the looking glass.
Click Continue

9. When you click Continue, one of
three outcomes will occur:

• Automatic Acceptance
• Pending List
• Not Accepted

10. Automatic Acceptance
Faculty of Arts and Science
If you meet the Automatic Acceptance criteria for the plan you
requested, you will be immediately registered in that plan.

11. Pending List
Faculty of Arts and Science
• Being placed on a pending list means that the department
will manually assess your request after the plan selection
period closes on SOLUS.
• If you are placed on a pending list you will be notified
that you need to be automatically accepted into an
alternate plan.

• Following the plan selection period in SOLUS,
departments will assess pending list requests from May
25 to June 5.
• If you are accepted from the pending list, your plan will
be changed from your pending list plan to your new plan
immediately.
• If you are not accepted from the pending list, you will
remain in your alternate plan.

• If you have completed less than 24 units, consider remaining
undeclared.
• Discuss your options with an academic advisor.
