INTRODUCTION……..
CAUSE EFFECT DIAGRAM
The Cause and Effect (CE)
diagram , also sometimes called
the fish bone diagram , is a tool
for discovering all the possible
causes for a particular effect.
The effect being examined is normally
some troublesome aspect of product or
service quality , such as a ‘machined part
not to specification’ , ‘excessive no of bugs
in software under development’ and so on
, but the effect may also relate to internal
processes such as ‘high rate of team
failures’ .
PURPOSE OF CE DIAGRAM
The major purpose of CE diagram is to act as a
first step in problem solving by generating a
comprehensive list of possible causes . It can
lead to immediate identification of major causes
and point to the potential remedy actions or
failing this , it may indicate the best potential
areas for further exploration and analysis . At a
minimum , preparing a CE diagram will lead to
greater understanding of the problem .

3 MAJOR ROOT CAUSES..
1) Student
Students themselves are responsible for poor placements because of their
poor quality , low technical knowledge , lack of thinking ability of students ,
lack of knowledge of students due to lack of availability of resources and
different level of efforts made by the students and the luck factor of students
also matters.
2) Faculty
Faculty in the institutes are sometimes also responsible for the poor
placement of students.
Sometimes poor faculty is present at the institutes who are responsible for
the lack of knowledge of students . Faculty sometimes show carelessness and
are least interested towards the employment of students .
3) Inflation period
Inflation period leads to unemployment of students . Economic crisis in the
country also effect the companies concerned and results in the lack of jobs
and hence in the poor placement of students . They only pick the top level
student and hence remaining are left unemployed.
REMEDIAL ACTIONS
 Proper communication should be maintained between the
institute and companies so that more and more companies visit
the campus .
 Students should improve upon their thinking capability by working
on practical situations.
 Students should work hard initially so as to get admission in a
high ranking institute.
 Institutes should remove poor faculty and employ only good
professors.
 Faculty should show keen interest towards students placements
and should even provide some tips on how to crack an interview.
 Institutes should refuse paid seaters as it degrades an overall
quality of students as well as degrades the ranking of students.
LESSONS LEARNT BY THE TEAM..
• To improve upon the poor placements student
themselves have to make efforts to improve
and increase their knowledge . They should
work upon increasing their thinking ability .
Factor such as inflation will always exist and
there are no ways in which we can escape
from this . Institutes are also responsible for
poor placements but if the follow the remedial
actions provided they can improve the
placement level of students .
