 India is basically a male dominant society, where men are treated an
edge over the women in economic matters. Superstitious Society beliefs
has a great impact on it.
 High illiteracy among women and the leading consequences.
 To decrease poverty and increase the economic strength of the country,
there is a great need to empower women and provide them safety.
 Too long judgment process by the judiciary in the country in regards to
the issues such as rape, kidnapping, domestic harassment, and the like.
 The declining image of our country in the International market against
all the sins spreading rapidly across.
 Due to frequently happening dreadful events in our country, the Tourism
Industry is facing a sharp decline, with increasing mindset regards to
India as “not so safe country”.
 All of these has a bad consequence on Indian Market, and resulting in
bad economic conditions.
 High illiteracy rate among women - 34.54%.
 Declining Sex Ratio from 933 in 2001 to 919 in 2011.
 Increasing number of rape victims.
 Increasing domestic violence and inhuman activities by in laws.
 India’s poor ranking in gender equality also shows discrimination
made within the society.

Crime Headwise Incidence of Crime Against Women during 2007-2011
 Consciousness-raising and leadership development on women’s rights and
gender equality.
 Supporting women’s struggles against all forms of violence ensuring safety ,
dignity , justice and rights.
 Strengthening legal system that aim at elimination of all forms of
discrimination against women.
 Providing Employment.
 Technological Empowerment.
 Spreading the word of Help.
 Increasing Moral Values.
 Policies for spreading education to the BPL people.
 Provide self defense techniques to women.
 Initiate Public Transport System exclusively for women.
 Providing Employment: Rural women could be employed as a driver, which
along with their empowerment will enhance their safety and thus reducing
the various incidents happening around, leading to a better quality of life
for women.
 Isolation can be provided between driver and passenger compartments to
ensure safety for women drivers.
 Technological Empowerment: With the advancement in technology, new
mobile phones are there in the market which costs less than INR 2000, and
have an emergency button which when pressed for a few seconds call 5
predefined contacts in sequence giving signals of danger; it also has a GPS
installed with help of which its position can be tracked.
 Wrist Emergency watch/band can be designed for sending threat signals to
the nearby help centers.
 Increasing Moral Values: Bringing back moral values in the society, thus
reducing the intensifying materialistic nature of people towards anything &
everything.
 Involving subjects like “Moral Values”, “Life Skills” and the like at the
secondary, graduate and postgraduate level. That is, along with bread
oriented learning, life oriented learning must be involved.
 Spreading the word of Help:
Organizing camps, seminar,
workshops in rural and urban areas to
make people realize the importance of
literacy, self-employment and their
safety will do the needful.
 New policy could be implemented
under which the people who can’t
afford a basic education and hence
force their girl child to work, could be
either rewarded by giving some
scholarship or by providing some sort
of employment, so that they
themselves send their girl child to
study .
 Provide self defense techniques to
women.
 Initiate Public Transport System
exclusively for women.
 Increasing Employment will provide a sense of self dependency
among women and will help in their empowerment; this will also
ensure safety of women passengers.
 Providing gadgets for their safety will make them techno-friendly,
and at the same time would ensure their safety by letting technology
to help them at the very moment of some mishappening.
 Education not only equips women for the workplace but also breaks
down conservative social attitudes.
 Initiating Public transport for women will ensure them to travel freely
and safely.
Demerits
 Initially High Investment is required.
 Strong Judiciary requirement to monitor the system.
