Chiropractic Essay
1. Chiropractic Essay
A Career in Chiropractic Healthcare
Chiropractors, or doctor of chiropractic, are healthcare professionals who practice the holistic,
drugless, healing art of chiropractic. They emphasize health maintenance and disease prevention
through proper nutrition, exercise, posture, stress management, and care of the spine and the nervous
system. Because of its emphasis on health maintenance, the whole person, and natural healing, it is
considered an alternative health care approach ("Alternative Health Care" 45). Chiropractors use
spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage back and neck pain. A career in
chiropractic healthcare has many challenges such as: rigid career requirements, unique work
environments, rewarding salaries with busy work days, and an increase in future needs.
Career Requirements and Qualifications
To become a doctor of chiropractic (DC), there is a minimum of six to seven years of education after
high school. There is nearly four years pre–medical undergraduate courses including classes like:
biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, and psychology. Once accepted into an accredited
chiropractic college, the requirements become even more difficult. Years of professional study like
adjusting techniques, a significant amount of time is spent in clinical training which is spent
evaluating and caring for patients. All fifty states and the District of Columbia require that
chiropractors pass a state board to have a license to

5. The Adjustment Bureau Theme
I have always believed that everything happens for a reason. Now, I am not saying that I believe that
there is a larger plan for everyone's life. To clarify, I believe that there is no such thing as fate.
Alternatively the events that happen throughout an individual 's life impacts their future in unknown
ways. The film The Adjustment Bureau (George Nolfi, 2011) is based on the short story "The
Adjustment Team". The story was written by Philip K. Dick in 1966. The film's described as an
action thriller. It is about a man, who after seeing part of his future goes to great lengths to test his
fate: in the hope of being with the woman he loves (The Official Site of The Adjustment Bureau).
Matt Damon plays David Norris, a man with a promising political career. He has the potential to
become the President of the United States. Emily Blunt plays Elise Sellas, a talented dancer. Elise
and David fall in love with after a chance encounter. According to the members of the Adjustment
Bureau, David and Elise are not meant to be together. Therefore, the Adjustment Bureau intervenes
to keep them on their predetermined life path. David's unwillingness to accept that he and Elise are
not meant to be together is the foundation of the movie. Thus, fate seems to be the central theme of
the film. Though, I concede that fate is an important aspect of the film. I insist that power relations
are also important to the progression of the film. Hats in The Adjustment Bureau are a symbol of a

Cost of living refers to the cost of maintaining a specific standard of living. Cost of living is a
changing life–element over time and is normally interpreted in the form of cost of living index.
Calculations pertaining cost of living are used in making comparisons between varying standards of
living distributed within different geographic regions. Purchasing power parity rates provides a
suitable solution towards finding accurate differences in cost of living between different locations.

Most of pension benefits, employment contracts, and government entitlement are entitled to Cost of
Living Adjustments (COLA) clause which is responsible for increasing payments based on changes
in the cost–of–living index (CPI) (Whittaker and Wayne, 2016). COLA interferes with the payments
and is also tied to the cost–of–living–index that normally vary based on geographic location of the
employee (Whittaker and Wayne, 2016).
Consumer price index is a crucial entity that influences cost of living adjustment. It is responsible in
measuring the changes that occur in the price level of the market basket of both consumer goods and
services normally purchased by households (Mulvey & Gengler, 2014). Market basket refers to the
fixed list of items that is involved in tracking the progress of inflation in a given economy or
specific market. Market basket is also regarded as a commodity bundle. Consumer Price Index is
dependent of the fluctuations which occur in the prices of the goods specified and involved in
market basket (Mulvey & Gengler, 2014). These sample of goods and services are intelligently
selected from the market for accurate market judgements when measuring the consumer price index.
Normally, the goods involved in these judgmental practices are the frequently bought items and
household goods. Close observations are

13. How Does Antigone Make Mundane Decisions
Any choice, from the bold defiances of the protagonists to the mundane decisions of small side
characters, have behind them a whole host of factors. This is also true for the choices made by the
casts of both Antigone and the adjustment bureau, in which a compound of factors all results in
choices for characters, though the factors are drastically different. In Antigone, it's a series of
individual past events that convinces a character to make a decision. These decisions then
themselves acts as contributing factors to a different characters decisions. For example, during the
falling action of the play, Creon says, "Now –– I am on my way! Come, each of you, take up axes,
make for the high ground, over there, quickly! I and my better judgment has come around to this ––
I shackled her, I'll set her free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am afraid... It's best to keep the established laws to the very day we die." In this quote, Creon
decides to go back on his will, which is already rare for such a stubborn character, but he also does
this in order to save who he considers an enemy to his states, even seeming to repentant of it.
However, this is not random. In fact, it was actually caused by three main factors: the prophesies of
Tiresias revealing that he and his city and family will suffer if he continues on his immoral path, the
consul of the leader, a sort of mentor character, to give in to his advice and unbury her, and the
popular support of Antigone over Creon. Thus, it was these three factors that were more or less
independent of each other that weighed on Creon, and this caused him to make his choice. By
contrast of this, The Adjustment Bureau holds every decision as a calculated part of a plan, and is
carefully plotted out to it occur by fate, with the intention that each factor to a choice is simply to
coerce a decision out of a

"Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity." That is the motto. On July 26, 1908, U.S. Attorney General
Charles Bonaparte ordered a group of newly hired federal investigators to report to Chief Examiner
Stanley W. Finch of the Department of Justice. About one year later, the Office of Chief Examiners
was renamed the Bureau of Investigators. It later became the Federal Bureau of Investigators in

The selection process is intimidating. Real–life FBI work is much different than the things that may
be seen on television. This job requires the ability to stay focused, a high intelligence level, as well
as education. Law enforcement is one of the leading careers resulting in death and/or injury, whether
it be from physical altercations or car accidents. Two deaths have also occurred during the training
process as trainees attempted to "fast–rope" out of a helicopter. The hours are highly unpredictable
as well. When considering this career, one should think realistically. One could imagine that a career
such as this is nothing like what I shown on TV where the team is constantly flying out to catch" bad
guys." Although staking out overnight and remaining undercover for years are two likely
possibilities, it is also very likely for agents to not leave the office at all. Long hours behind a desk
with all different types of paperwork are hardly ever portrayed on television shows. Agents often
have long days with long hours with a lot of undercover assignments. All agents are constantly on

29. Cultural Diversity In Australia Essay
Based in Australia, my country and culture appears on the Linear–Active side of the spectrum. Not
pure Linear Active, but Linear–Active with a blend of Multi–Active.
I do agree with this assessment for several reasons. I see both Linear–Active and Multi–Active
behaviours around me. Australia is a very mixed multi–cultural society, essentially since
colonisation, a society of immigrants. This continues with ongoing strong immigration as outlined
by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (27 Jun, 2017).
"The 2016 Census shows that two thirds (67 per cent) of the Australian population were born in
Australia. Nearly half (49 per cent) of Australians had either been born overseas (first generation
Australian) or one or both parents had been born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But additional like a laugh, be around people and friends and family, not 100% goal focused and can
handle multiple things. This I believe is adapting to the Australian conditions mixed with the
Linear–Active strengths of the cultures that mostly made up the colonisation.
Overtime, especially if multicultural immigration continues to continue at the rate it has, I believe
we may see an adjustment where there is an increase in Multi–Active and Reactive behaviours in
Australia. Not enough to move Australia to the other end of the spectrum but over time move see it
move in a small but identifiable way.
Personally I do see myself as mixed, I have values from Linear–Active and Multi–Active. I also find
that based work I do and the partial separation of home and work, the "behavioural faces" I present
at work is different to home, this too contributes to the mixed behavioural styles. Even my work is
very mixed but not as common here. My work is a mix of technical, management, projects,
consulting, fine detail and broad "blue sky" planning mixed with HR, security and disaster planning,
documentation and procedures. This mix does not allow me (and personally I love the mix variety of
my work) to be too far on just one aspect of this spectrum as the different aspects require different

Every person, or group of persons, has an identity and a culture tied to them from the country in
which they grew up. An identity is the image someone present to the rest of the world, and culture is
the image which one has of his/herself. Countries are similar to a person; over its history of being
influenced by other countries, it has formed an identity and culture for itself. It has been stated that
the worst act performed by others on another is to take away their identity, and deny them of their

Drivers that have been boosting all these changes is the core to understand the whole process. It is

noisy bars assembled around living music pools, moreover, the narrow alleys filled with creative
painting on both sides, are spreading extreme attractiveness to young lives but apparently not all of

more questions emerged. Who exactly is moving to such an energetic and colorful place with

the movie Adjustment Bureau and the play "Antigone". The play and movie have a couple
similarities but one that sticks out to me is the characters choices and consequences. The main
characters I noticed was David Norris and Creon. They both were major parts in their piece of art so
they made many choices that had consequences. They both had something to do with politics ...

They have a couple things that really stand out, one being politics and another I noticed being the
act of defying a higher power. Creon defied a seer in his story. Creon goes and decides to defy
Tiresias, a very old seer. Tiresias is a seer which means they can predict the future and warn people
about what is to come for them if it is bad. Now Tiresias has been in this game for a long time,
probably even dating back farther than Creon's parents. Tiresias definitely knows what he's doing.
Tiresias tells Creon of a sight he had about Creon. It is very bad for Creon it is a sight telling of his
whole family dying but Creon doesn't want to believe it. Creon disgraces Tiresias and is very rude to
him. Creon defies Tiresias and gets his whole family killed in the process. Defying a higher power
did not go so well for Creon but for David it went pretty well. David defied the Adjustment Bureau.

Upon learning from a Connecticut National Guard recruiter that I was ineligible to enlist in any
branch of the United States Armed Forces due to a chronic illness that will require medication
indefinitely, I was devastated. However, despite this devastation, it was my desire to serve and to be
a part of the military culture that became the driving force behind the decision to become a certified
Military Service Members, Veterans and Their Families – Advanced Social Worker (MVF–ASW).
Even though this career does not involve being on the front lines, I can still provide direct services
to the children of active duty service members as they navigate the extended deployments, frequent

work as a youth services coordinator on a military base, it is recommended because it will provide

more effective social worker in this particular field.
In order to become a licensed social worker in the United States, one must hold at least a Bachelor's

49. H Freewill Symbolism
Symbolism is an important factor in the adjustment bureau, and plays a prominent part throughout
the story. The Chairman is the most mysterious of symbols, he is a figure we never get to see or we
don't realize we have seen it, and I think that was on purpose. Maybe the chairman isn't shown to
allow people of different beliefs to feel connected to a higher being. But what we do understand is
what the chairman represents; it represents a being whose power is beyond all else and one who can
see and predict everything. The chairman is supposed to symbolize a god, but is that really what itis
or is it just an elected position that can be held by anyone. A God is seen as an almighty being that
controls all, and created all. The chairman is like a god but he didn't create the world, he just runs it.
The chairman has the ability to rewrite people's memory and even change their fate, but does that
make him a god? In the movie the agents refer to him as an elected individual in charge of
everything. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the movie the agents say that freewill exists but in insignificant choices like what you have for
lunch or what you choose to drink. And for all we know this can be true, but there is no way of
disproving the idea. In the movie freewill is controlled by the agents who adjust people's choices to
fit the path that is laid out for them. Even if the agents manipulate people's lives they don't know and
just see it as a coincidence or have no action against it at all. Freewill is an important idea to
humanity but yet we cannot prove if we actually have it. The reason for humanity's freewill to be
taken away is they aren't able to use reason to solve issues they let emotion do it instead. Every time
humanity is given a chance at freewill they mess it up by causing wars and depressions. This is why

population were most affected by poverty the Johnson Administration tasked the Social Security
Administration to propose a definition (Haveman, 2015). The SSA employee in charge of the

All though many scholars are in agreement that the Official Poverty Measure is out dated few agree
on what steps should be taken to adjust the formula. To date the only changes that have been made
to the poverty measure in over 50 years has been in response to the inflation reported in the
consumer price index. It has been affirmed by governmental agencies that the poverty measure is to
be used for statistical purposes and not to determine how much money a family needs to actually
survive. Many recommendations have been made with arguably the most influential coming from

Supplemental Poverty Measure of 2011. Accounting for Geographic location was one of the many
recommended changes (child care, medical expenses, and cost of housing are additional popular
recommendations) that has been suggested over the years but has not been incorporated into the
current formula. Going forward the focus of my research will be to account for geographic location
only and the impact that one change can have on the way poverty is discussed here in the United
States. Many Economists agree that location does have an impact on how far a family's money can

How many times have we seen this transpire in the past year? What can we do to change the
disparities that are taking place between police departments and African American boy/men?
According to Attorney Benjamin Crump (Truth and consequences, 2015), far too many officers say
that they felt threatened, but if not for viral video; the murder could have been swept under the rug.
He also says there is a blanket of distrust, disrespect, and indifference thrown across Black men in
America. He believes that this is the result of the many deaths at the hands of armed police officers
who claim to be afraid. According to former Police Chief Howard Safir, (Truth and consequences,
2015), these incidents do not happen as often as the media would have us believe. He believes that
police brutality and misconduct are inexcusable. He depends that police are to protect and serve but
can only do this effectively if officers and civilians work together. Filmmaker Errol Morris believes
that every time an unarmed black man is killed by a police officer, and the act goes unpunished,
racism is rewarded. According to Morris (Truth and consequences, 2015), "cameras can offer the
evidence but they cannot tell us what to do with the evidence." Kareem Abdul–Jabbar, the six–time
NBA champion, and Times columnist, answers the question best of what can be done to change
these disparities. He says that, "pushing harder for police reforms, more training, more

Psychologists are very important people; they help millions of people with their everyday struggles
and problems that they have to deal with. Not only do psychologists help people with problems that
they cannot handle on their own, they also are scientists who study human minds and behaviors.
With being a psychologist, there are many different careers to choose from within this profession
(Explore Health Careers). The first type of psychologists to choose from is a clinical psychologist.
Clinical psychologists help people with counseling and psychotherapy. They work with people who

individuals in a workplace. These types of psychologists focus on improving the function of
organizations, and to keep individuals healthy within the organization (Psyris). Another type of
psychology to choose from is a counseling psychologist. These are important psychologists because
they teach people how to deal with their everyday problems. They help their patients determine their
problems and help them understand the problems they are facing. Not only do counseling
psychologists help their patients with the issues they are experiencing at home but also in their
workplace or their community in general. By helping their patients identify their strengths and
resources, is how counseling psychologists help them with their problems (Bureau of Labor
Statistics). The next type of psychology is the developmental psychologist. Developmental
psychologists work with psychological processes and development that takes place throughout life.
They study aging and problems the elderly may face, but this type of psychologist mainly focuses
on children and adolescents (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The last type of psychologist to choose

89. Essay On The Adjustment Bureau
The Adjustment Bureau, directed by George Nolfi, depicts an interesting idea of how the world
works. The story follows congressmen David Norris (Matt Damon) as he runs for office but also
chases after the love of his life. However, in this world free will does not exist. The adjustment
bureau and the chairman have a carefully written plan for every individual person on earth so that no
catastrophes erupt. David has to fight the bureau in order to get them to change his life course so
that he can be with Elise. This movie creates many complex questions about free will. If every
movement and interaction in our life is already planned out, but it isn't what you want, how can you
fix it? Few situations would give me the courage, determination, and endurance in order to convince
the bureau to change my life course. Love and situations that put others in danger are the only two
conditions that would move me to deviate from the plan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Love is more than affection and sexual interaction with somebody else. It is a feeling that comes
when two individuals find trust and companionship over a long period of the time. Each supports the
other no matter the circumstances. Love is also felt between friends and family but in a different
fashion. Regardless of what form it is in, love is hard to find and easier to lose. If I knew I had just
met my significant other and the feeling was mutual, I would fight the bureau in order to be with
them. Also, if I had a partner and the bureau tried to take them away I would retaliate. Yes, you can

97. Antigone And The Adjustment Bureau Summary
Faith Morrow
Ms. Gottner
Pre–AP;5th hour
20 December, 2017
Compare and Contrast Essay Both Antigone and the Adjustment Bureau have similarities and
differences, when analyzing one government and democracy about the both of them! There are
many ways to compare and contrast these two pieces! Although Antigone and the Adjustment
Bureau are completely different, there are many similarities that you can draw from the both of
them. Not only can you relate both of theses pieces together using one motif, you can also relate the
same motif to the real world and to the choices that you make! In Antigone, government and
democracy played a huge role throughout the story! Creon is one that really relates to this motif! In
the city of Thebes, the government was a form of democratic democracy. At the time, Creon was
king! Throughout the story, Creon ruled as a dictator! His everyday choices depended on his
governmentative standing! He used his "power" over the people in the city when making choices
that he thought would be beneficial. He only listened to himself and he believed that every choice he
made was right! Many different characters in the story tried to offer advice to Creon, when they
realized that he was making irrational decisions, but he chose to ignore them and he continued along
his own path. For example, Tiresias(who is a seer, and knows what's going to happen in the future)
tried to warn Creon about what would happen at the rate Creon was going at! Tiresias tried to offer
Creon advice and he told Creon that he really should take his advice, but Creon took this as an
insult. Whenever someone told Creon what to do, he took it as an insult and he wouldn't listen to
anyone, but himself. In the Adjustment Bureau, government and democracy arises right when the
movie begins and is continued throughout the film. At the beginning of the movie, David was
running for Congress! Due to this, he had to change his lifestyles and he had to be more cautious
about the choices that he made. For example, at the beginning of the movie David's support system
was weakened, because he got into a bar fight that went viral! Due to the fact that he worked for the
government, he had very little privacy, which caused this

states that the Latino population is becoming the largest minority group in the United States

living under the poverty line, at greater risk for no health insurance or assistance, and underserved
by other services. Latinos are less likely to seek services because they are cautious of their cultural
beliefs, doubt towards the government, and interventions tend to be different than their values and

105. Federal Prison And Addiction: What Are The Treatment Options?
History
The need for prison–based addiction treatment is intense. In the most recent data from the
Department of Justice in 2002, it was found that 68 percent of offenders reported symptoms of
addiction in the year before their admission to jail that met addiction criteria. 16 percent of
convicted offenders report they have committed their offense in order to get money for drugs. 63
percent of offenders who met addiction criteria had participated in some form of treatment in the
past (James & Karberg, 2005).
Because convicted offenders tend to be locked up for longer periods than jail offenders, treatment
possibilities in a prison setting are more far–reaching. The prison and treatment staff are in the best
position to establish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lack of desire to help one another. This is part of the prison culture. When money is
required to buy items that are needed or wanted, the requirement to give up prison job in order to
enter treatment is a huge endeavor. Offenders can face physical threats of violence from other
offenders if they participate. Treatment inside the prison system is inadequate to the community if
there are no services available upon release for the offender and they are more likely to drop out of
any treatment program that not related to their needs. Limited treatment resources can be related to
the lack of trained staff and available treatment models. Many offenders want treatment, but worried
that programs may cause them to have lower status within the prison setting (9 Treatment Issues,
2005).
Sanctions
Negative sanctions are one other problem affecting participation within the treatment program.
While in the treatment program, offenders know exactly what the consequences of noncompliance
and poor progress are. They understand that there are certain unbreakable or "cardinal" rules that are
their guide. When the violations occur, the sanctions should be applied consistently. The penalties
are specifically spelled out to the offender, so there is no doubt about the consequences of their non–
compliance or breaking the established rules for the treatment

The economy continues to experience stable personal income growth, increasing 0.4% in April. On
a quarterly basis, personal income rose 4.1% in the first quarter, staying within the higher–than–4%
trend that started in the first quarter last year. In the first quarter, personal income rose to $15,129
billion, higher than the 2014 fourth quarter of $14,979 billion. Real disposable income–that is
personal income less personal taxes adjusted for price changes–rose 5.3% in the fourth quarter, to
$13,285 billion. Rising personal income fueled increasing PCE. PCE increased 1.8% in the first
quarter with services and durable goods consumption rising at 2.5% and 1.1%, respectively. Despite
uneven monthly jobs data, the economy's labor utilization continued to rise. In January and
February, 201,000 and 266,000 jobs were added, respectively. March jobs numbers, however, were
disappointing adding only 119,000 jobs causing the unemployment rate to stay unchanged at 5.5%
in February and March. Nevertheless, the unemployment rate continued to fall in the first quarter
and the trend continued in April and May. Total number of jobs added in the first quarter was
552,000. April job numbers confirmed that March was a one–off dip, adding 221,000 jobs, which
brought the unemployment rate down to 5.4%. Although 280,000 jobs were added in May,
unemployment rate was recorded 5.5%, due to an increase in the civilian labor force by 0.25%

Film adaptation is the transfer of written work in part or in whole into screenplay. One major
difference between novels and films is that "visual images stimulate our perceptions directly"
providing color, movement, and sound that contributes to the viewer's sensory experience. (From
Novel to Screen, 1) According to University of Delaware English Professor Thomas Leitch, he
disagrees that "novels create more complex characters than films because they offer more immediate
and complete access to characters' psychological states." (Leitch, 158) With the support of Thomas

Mental states for film viewers must be "inferred by viewers in the same way that they infer the
mental states of real people." (Gaydosik, 1) With relation to everyday people, film characters

behavior could eventually cost them their lives. Gordie, in the source text, has the passion to keep
his friends out of trouble, but he loses his determination and responsibility. Chris leads the group out
of trouble when the "gangs" are arguing to take the body by firing off. In the adaptation, Gordie fires
the gun, which is more significant because he takes the initiative to cease their quest to take the
body home. In the source text, Gordie's progression fades away in the end and Chris takes his
maturity step to join Gordie on the successful path. The reader is aware that Gordie is the wise,
intelligent leader of the group and the film shows what Gordie has learned through their journey by
standing up to the older "gang" to uncover what he was hiding inside. He loses his immaturity and

system, the Federal Bureau of Prisons is an agency that derives from the United States Department
of Justice. Originating from the federal law enforcement agency sector, this system is accountable
for a vast array of administrative duties pertaining to, but not limited to, commissioning the aspects
of the federal prison system. Erected in 1930, the Bureau of Prisons was invoked as a means of

institutions. As the rapid evolution stemming from its formation excelled at an alarming rate, the
agency that comprised of 11 operated facilities quickly evolved to 114 prisons in addition to 6

125. A Brief Note On Unemployment And Minimum Wage Essay
Unemployment and Minimum Wage Both the microeconomics and the macroeconomics theories
dictate that an increase in the minimum wage will directly impact the rate of unemployment by
shooting upwards. As of the moment, there is a heated debate on whether the Congress should pass a
bill that seeks to increase United States minimum wage. The consequent change will eventually
have both positive as well as negative impacts on various economical aspects particularly
unemployment. As for this paper, the focus will be narrowed down to examining the link between
minimum wage and unemployment rates across states and also highlighting the current state of
unemployment in both Los Angeles and Seattle. In reference to microeconomic theory, the bare
minimum wage is considered the price level on top of the equilibrium that is set by the demand and
supply curve. A slight increase in the minimum wage greatly impacts the quantity of workers
supplied in the economy by significantly increasing due to the initial heave of interest to enroll in
the workforce. Similarly, there will be a decline in the quantity of demanded labor given that the
marginal labor cost will directly increase as the minimum wage increases. As a result of the
increased quantity supplied and the subsequent decrease in demanded quantity, there will be a
creation of labor surplus in the workforce, culminating in the increased rates of unemployment. With

133. Fate And Free Will In Homer's Odyssey
As mortal beings, our own fate is determined by the individual choices we make over the course of
our lives, mainly because these selections ultimately define who we are and what we do in life. My
reasons for this being, primarily, each decision we make during a lifetime has an impact upon our
lives. The next being, we pay the consequences for all of the good and bad we commit in life.
Finally, we decide whether to make a good life for ourselves or relinquish our opportunities to do so.
While there is a God who oversees the universe and each of our individual lives, he allows for our
free will and the choice to which road we choose to take in life. He doesn't control us as puppets on
strings, but allows for us to create our own fate, or destiny. This is confirmed by the several sources

It isn't necessarily relevant concerning the size of the impact, but the fact that our choices do make a
virtuous or malign difference. For example, in the Odyssey, Odysseus decides to send two men and

decision a leader makes, nothing out of the ordinary, right? Well so it appeared, but as a
consequence for taking the risk, Odysseus loses the men he sent because those who took of the
Lotus plan refused to leave. This had to have a pretty big impact upon his life because these men
were part of his crew, and the fewer the crew, the harder it is to accomplish things. Another example
of the impact decisions have on our lives is in the Adjustment Bureau where Damon Norris decides

Prisoners with Special Needs
A child with special needs tend to inspire us to be more patient and grateful while a prisoner with
special needs makes us wonder where the parents and inmate went wrong. The United States
Corrections system is home to thousands of prisoners. The purpose of this paper is to explain how
special needs, mentally ill, and substance–abusing prisoners affect the jail and prison systems at
both state and federal levels. The effects of neglect towards these prisoners will be explained and
possible consequences associated with the acts. Lastly, the pros and cons of prison programs for
special needs inmates will be thoroughly explained.
Effects on the Jails and Prisons There are several different types of offenders in prison. Among the
prison population are mentally ill prisoners, special needs offenders, and substance–abusing
offenders. These special offenders affect the jail and prison systems at state and federal levels
because they require more intensive or specialized services to be successfully reintegrated into
society. If they do not receive special attention, they can harm themselves or others, or become sick
from substance related illnesses. Mentally ill offenders must have access to psychiatric health,

Upon learning from a Connecticut National Guard recruiter that I was ineligible to enlist in any

a part of the military culture that became the driving force behind the decision to become a certified
Military Service Members, Veterans and Their Families – Advanced Social Worker (MVF–ASW).
Even though this career does not involve being on the front lines, I can still provide direct services

Apple Computers in the Current Economic Climate: Assessment and Projections Based on

Introduction Apple Computers is a well–established and highly profitable company that has several
leading technology– and computer–based products on the market, and that retains a highly loyal
consumer base in its niche personal computing market (Yahoo Finance, 2012; Hoovers, 2012).
Though the company faltered for some time in its history, it has again reached the pinnacle of
innovation and progress in the computing and technology industries, and its product rollouts
