People who suffer from back pain may have vertebrae shaped more like chimpanzees than healthy humans, according to a new study. The study found that humans with a common slipped disc condition had vertebrae shapes similar to chimpanzees. This suggests that people with chimpanzee-like vertebrae are more at risk of slipped discs. The rapid evolution of human bipedalism may have left some people vulnerable to back problems as a result of "learning to run before we could walk."
