• 60% of perpetrators of
sexual abuse are known
to the child but are not
family members, e.g.,
family friends,
babysitters, childcare
providers, neighbours.
• 30% of perpetrators are
family members
• Just 10% of perpetrators
are strangers to the
child.
• women are the abusers
in about 14% of cases
reported among boys
and 6% of cases reported
among girls.

Ask your child to understand the following rules
• I will Always tell my parents where I am
going and at what time I will be back
home.
• I will go to a place always with
someone, not alone.
• I will Trust my feelings and go away
from a situation that does not feel right.

Do not tell your kids –Don’t talk to strangers.
Instead Teach them that
They can approach certain kinds
of strangers if they need help.
They can approach a Mother
with Kids.

rides from any adult

• If an adult asks me to
come with him to help him
carry packages, play
games, take pictures, I will
not do so without
permission from my
parents.
• I will not tell anyone when
I’m home alone.
• I will lock the doors of my
house.

phone number.
• I will walk against traffic
on the sidewalk.
