Sexual abuse is defined as any sexual act with a minor under the age of 16 in Malaysia and can include sexual touching, penetrative sex, exposing children to pornography, and encouraging prostitution. Most abusers are male relatives or family friends who are in a position of power and choose to betray the child's trust. Victims may experience confusion, self-blame, and threats from abusers telling them not to disclose the abuse.
