OUTLINE
 Beilstein Database
 Scifinder Scholar Database
 Web of Science
 Scopus
 Comparision between WoS & Scopus
BEILSTEIN DATABASE
 The documents from the Beilstein Handbook
of Organic Chemistry as well as data from
176 leading journals in organic chemistry
 Titles, abstracts and bibliograpic data of the
citations in Beilstein, published from 1980 to
the present
 Updated quarterly
BEILSTEIN DATABASE
(cont.)
 A substance record contains Beilstein Registry
Number, the CAS Registry Number,structure
diagram, molecular formula etc. (searchable and
displayable)
 Reaction data more than 8.1 million substances
 More than 9.428.000 substance records
 Database is in English except for some fields that
also contain German terms.
SciFinder Scholar Database
SciFinder Scholar includes:
Bibliographic databases:
CAPLUS (Chemical Abstracts): Contains
journal articles, patents, conference
proceedings, technical reports, reviews etc.
back to 1907. In addition to chemistry it covers
geology, materials science, biology, medicine,
food science, agriculture, polymer science,
physics and engineering.
MEDLINE: Covers biomedical sciences dating
from 1951 to the present.
SciFinder Scholar Database
(cont.)
 Chemical reactions database:
CASREACT: Contains more than 8 million
single- and multi-step reactions.
 Chemical substance databases:
CAS REGISTRY: Contains data on more than
23 million substance and 43million sequence
records, the substances identified from the
scientific literature from 1957 to the present
with some classes going back to the early
1900s.

Web of Science (cont.)
 Navigate backward in time using
cited references to uncover the
research that influenced an author's
work
 Navigate forward in time using
Times Cited to discover the impact
a paper or other published item has
had on current research
Web of Science (cont.)
 Link to the full text of primary
literature
 Export records directly to leading
biblographic management
programs: EndNote®, Reference
Manager® and ProCite®
 Use the Analyze tool to view an
analysis of search results
