Our character design
             Our character design
For our animation, we needed to characters who
were easy to draw, had a relatively simple
design, and who could easily portray emotion.
Some examples that I found on the internet
                    included:
Example 1
• This example is good for a
  number of reasons.
  Firstly, they both portray
  gender very well, and it
  obvious that the character
on the left is female. Both
  of these are also quite
  detailed but they are
  difficult to draw due to
  this detail. These
  designs, while good, are a
  little to detailed for the
  amount of times that we
  need to draw them.
Example 2
• These character designs would be
  less appropriate for our animation
  for a number of reasons.
Firstly, they are too realistic and
lifelike in design. This doesn’t fit
our vision for our animation, which
  is to portray stereotypical
  male/female characters.
  Secondly, these designs feature too
  many joints and ‘moving parts’
  which would make animating them
far more challenging. This also has
a positive side, as more moving
body parts would allow for a
greater degree of emotion to be
  shown.
Example 3
• Characters such as this
  would be useful for
  multiple reasons. They are
  relatively easy to draw as
  they are essentially stick
  figures. By giving the
design a thin waist it allows
the figures to take a variety
  of different stances and
  poses, allowing emotions
  to be portrayed easily.
  However, these designs
  don’t depict gender very
  well, as their design is
  unisex.
