Lighting

As our music video was animation, we had no control over the
lighting in a traditional sense. We did however, choose to set all
of our scenes during the daytime. This is to reflect the positive
mood and themes of the video. Despite our female character
being upset, the story is being told from the perspective of the
happy male character, and is about his efforts to cheer her up.
This is why we don’t feature any shots with darkened or
                           nighttime shots.
Lighting effects
• Despite being an animation, we did incorporate some lighting
effects. For one scene transition we zoom the camera up to the
sun, to the point where it is an extreme closeup. We then add a
lens flare effect as we pull the camera back out to reveal the new
scene. We also use a lens flare later on in our footage in the last
scene. The sun descends down to shine on the seed planted by our
male character. We add the lens flare effect, then brighten up the
rest of the scene while it is present to make it seem like the sun is
‘shining’. We performed this lens flare effect by using adobe
  Photoshop.
