Introduction
At the time of ratification of the U.S. Constitution, the new American nation of the early nineteenth century found its citizens divided in their political views. Those who favored a strong central government and thus a restriction of the powers possessed by the states belonged to the Federalist Party; those who believed that the Constitution should be interpreted so as to limit the power of the national government, thus giving additional power to the states, joined the Republican Party. The Federalists, therefore, espoused a nationalistic view; the Republicans, though they would not deny the efficacy of a national government, believed that definite rights should be reserved to the states. This activity will help you better understand how ideals embraced at the time of the nation’s founding still effect contemporary American society as well as help you develop skills in critical thinking and organization. PLEASE NOTE:
The Federalist and the Republican Parties only emerged after George Washington became president; they are not the same thing as the Federalists and the anti-Federalists who debated the ratification of the new Constitution in 1787 and 1788. Moreover, this paper is not about the debate over the ratification of the Constitution, but about how and why national leaders broke into two political factions (or parties) as the Washington and Adams administrations sought to deal with domestic and foreign policy issues. So when addressing the Constitution, you should be thinking about the role the “necessary and proper clause” and the Tenth Amendment played in how these parties viewed the Constitution.

Following the Revolutionary War and separation from England, the need for a new government was clear. A group of men, who became known as the “nation’s founders” or Founding Fathers, developed a new government based on principles and beliefs they knew through their experiences, readings, and study. The Founding Fathers had a great deal in common with each other, including property interests, education, and extensive political experience. These common experiences and birthrights created a strong consensus about what should be incorporated into the government that would replace England’s.
Troubles developed immediately upon establishment of the United States of America with the 1781 Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union. Economic difficulties and means of dividing power between leaders and competing interests caused conflict. The conflicts had to be resolved, and some of the Founding Fathers and others, who would come to be known as the Framers went to Philadelphia to revise the Articles of Confederation. However, it became apparent immediately that the Articles could not be revised, and therefore, they were abandoned, and the Framers set about to create a new form of government. Though the effort was eventually successful and resulted in the Constitution, there was a great deal of conflict during its development in the summer of 1787. The form of government established incorporated the ideas of diverse groups, as well as the Framers’ recognition of the need for compromise.

The lens I chose is political. I have the topic, The constitution of United States began in the year 1787. This drafting occurred when there was a meeting at Pennsylvania of constitutional convention (Rutherglen, 2018). According to people who drafted the constitution, the first governing document, the confederation articles and the government did their operations like countries that were independent. In this case, the political lens can be used to show how politicians tried to write down the laws and the purpose of drafting the constitution. “Comparisons (both favorable and unfavorable) with the Philadelphia Convention and the adoption of the United States Constitution in 1787 abound.” The drafted took place after America gained its independence from the Great Britain and this is when the republic thought of having a central government that was strong for its stability (Rutherglen, 2018). Some events that led to this drafting included the start of revolutionary war, adding of tax to sugar and molasses, passing of the stamp act that made colonists deliver supplies to British soldiers and the gain of independence.
This can be political as well as historical lens.Some overall needs that were included in the US constitution include the Bill of rights which guaranteed an individual’s protection. The bill of right gave freedom of speech and religion to different states. The role of citizens during the drafting included having the power to govern it and this was not for ordinary citizens but for white Protestants who owned property. This people were the only ones allowed to vote. An economic lens has been used here to show that citizens who didn’t own property didn’t have the power to vote. “The ten amendments made in the US constitution were referred to as the bill of rights which consisted civil liberties guarantees and state power checks.” (Mestad, 2017). This guarantees and checks were added so that the states would be convinced to ratify the constitution. Some opposition groups such as Anti-Federalists opposed constitution ratification since they thought the government would be more powerful. There is an economic lens used by the author in this scenario to show how opposition groups such as Anti-federalists had no power over ratification. Many of us have a general concept and
understanding of the leadership of the Founding
Fathers working to establish a government with more
democratic principles and ideals. While the term
Founding Fathers is used a great deal, one must note
that there was a general sense of agreement on the
need for a new government and country, but there
were differences in their political ideologies. Some
Founding Fathers were for a more powerful federal
government, while others were more focused on state
powers. The point to be made here is that the
Founding Fathers were not an ideologically unified
group of people. The Founding Fathers had a vision
of making America a melting pot, but the path of
setting up a different style of government had many
trials and tribulations. After many obstacles were
overcome, the United States was formed under the
political structure of a democratic republic, which is
mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance. In this unit, the

create the Constitution will be examined.

will examine the thoughts and strategies behind
our nation’s founding and the ideas and principles

In the Beginning
What is politics? What part do we as citizens have
in the political process? The United States has a
political culture that was begun during colonial times
and refined during the Revolutionary War. When the
colonists declared their independence from Great
Britain, the Founding Fathers declared that
Americans were entitled to life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness. Along with this entitlement
also came a duty because nothing is ever free. It
should be our active goal as U.S. citizens to
understand how politics affects every part of our
lives from the moment we are conceived until we
depart this world. We should be informed of what
those who represent us are doing so that we can
guide their steps and keep them accountable.
Early American core values for governing were
centered on the ideas of liberty, individualism, equality, and self-government. Establishing these ideals was
not without issue. The First and Second Continental Congresses were fraught with turbulence and animosity,
as were the weeks.
How would you change the constitution? Here's my proposals
The constitution is a sacred cow, and some parts of it should be slaughtered. It was deliberately designed to be anti democratic and we suffer from its faults to this day. Large parts of it should be reformed with a new constitution, abolish the electoral college, reform the senate and supreme court, limit corporate power and make it harder to go to war. These are my proposals.

From 1750 to the present, Latin America experienced both political changes and continuities. The region broke free from colonial rule in the early 1800s through independence revolutions, but instability and foreign influence remained as new authoritarian leaders came to power. Over time, liberal and conservative ideologies emerged seeking to reform government and society, yet democratic traditions were weak after centuries of monarchy, and instability persisted.

The lens I chose is political. I have the topic, The constitution of United States began in the year 1787. This drafting occurred when there was a meeting at Pennsylvania of constitutional convention (Rutherglen, 2018). According to people who drafted the constitution, the first governing document, the confederation articles and the government did their operations like countries that were independent. In this case, the political lens can be used to show how politicians tried to write down the laws and the purpose of drafting the constitution. “Comparisons (both favorable and unfavorable) with the Philadelphia Convention and the adoption of the United States Constitution in 1787 abound.” The drafted took place after America gained its independence from the Great Britain and this is when the republic thought of having a central government that was strong for its stability (Rutherglen, 2018). Some events that led to this drafting included the start of revolutionary war, adding of tax to sugar and molasses, passing of the stamp act that made colonists deliver supplies to British soldiers and the gain of independence.
This can be political as well as historical lens.Some overall needs that were included in the US constitution include the Bill of rights which guaranteed an individual’s protection. The bill of right gave freedom of speech and religion to different states. The role of citizens during the drafting included having the power to govern it and this was not for ordinary citizens but for white Protestants who owned property. This people were the only ones allowed to vote. An economic lens has been used here to show that citizens who didn’t own property didn’t have the power to vote. “The ten amendments made in the US constitution were referred to as the bill of rights which consisted civil liberties guarantees and state power checks.” (Mestad, 2017). This guarantees and checks were added so that the states would be convinced to ratify the constitution. Some opposition groups such as Anti-Federalists opposed constitution ratification since they thought the government would be more powerful. There is an economic lens used by the author in this scenario to show how opposition groups such as Anti-federalists had no power over ratification. Though this opposition groups were unsuccessful, they ensured the Bill of rights was implemented. understanding of the leadership of the Founding
Fathers working to establish a government with more
democratic principles and ideals. While the term
Founding Fathers is used a great deal, one must note
that there was a general sense of agreement on the
need for a new government and country, but there
were differences in their political ideologies. Some
Founding Fathers were for a more powerful federal
government, while others were more focused on state
powers. The point to be made here is that the
Founding Fathers were not an ideologically unified
group of people. The Founding Fathers had a vision
of making America a melting pot, but the path of
setting up a different style of government had many
trials and tribulations. After many obstacles were
overcome, the United States was formed under the
political structure of a democratic republic, which is
mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance. In this unit, the
thoughts and strategies behind the founding of the
United States and the ideas and principles utilized to
create the Constitution will be examined.

The article refutes conclusions that the south and north alignments assisted the realization and passing of the constitutional convention of 1787. The distinguished economic interest of the region including slavery, merchant and commercial activities led to sectional rifts. The author argues the rifts meant that the constitution was predisposed to failure and its original design fell short of serving as the constitution of the nation. This led to civil wars and a southern secession and led to the need for three amendments to save the constitution.

We have all heard about the Founding Fathers and their vision of making America a melting pot, but the trials
and tribulations of establishing the government of the United States fly a bit further under the radar. This unit
will examine the thoughts and strategies behind
our nation’s founding and the ideas and principles
utilized to create our Constitution.
In the Beginning
What is politics? What part do we as citizens have
in the political process? The United States has a
political culture that was begun during colonial times
and refined during the Revolutionary War. When the
colonists declared their independence from Great
Britain, the Founding Fathers declared that
Americans were entitled to life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness. Along with this entitlement
also came a duty because nothing is ever free. It
should be our active goal as U.S. citizens to
understand how politics affects every part of our
lives from the moment we are conceived until we
depart this world. We should be informed of what
those who represent us are doing so that we can
guide their steps and keep them accountable.
Early American core values for governing were
centered on the ideas of liberty, individualism, equality, and self-government. Establishing these ideals was
not without issue. The First and Second Continental Congresses were fraught with turbulence and animosity,
as were the weeks.
How would you change the constitution? Here's my proposals
The constitution is a sacred cow, and some parts of it should be slaughtered. It was deliberately designed to be anti democratic and we suffer from its faults to this day. Large parts of it should be reformed with a new constitution, abolish the electoral college, reform the senate and supreme court, limit corporate power and make it harder to go to war. These are my proposals.

Assignment 2: American Constitution
Following the Revolutionary War and separation from England, the need for a new government was clear. A group of men, who became known as the “nation’s founders” or Founding Fathers, developed a new government based on principles and beliefs they knew through their experiences, readings, and study. The Founding Fathers had a great deal in common with each other, including property interests, education, and extensive political experience. These common experiences and birthrights created a strong consensus about what should be incorporated into the government that would replace England’s.
Troubles developed immediately upon establishment of the United States of America with the 1781 Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union. Economic difficulties and means of dividing power between leaders and competing interests caused conflict. The conflicts had to be resolved, and some of the Founding Fathers and others, who would come to be known as the Framers went to Philadelphia to revise the Articles of Confederation. However, it became apparent immediately that the Articles could not be revised, and therefore, they were abandoned, and the Framers set about to create a new form of government. Though the effort was eventually successful and resulted in the Constitution, there was a great deal of conflict during its development in the summer of 1787. The form of government established incorporated the ideas of diverse groups, as well as the Framers’ recognition of the need for compromise.

Consider the three constitutional proposals: the Virginia Plan, the New Jersey Plan, and the Great Compromise, also known as the Connecticut Compromise. If you were a delegate and without the experience of the past 200 years, which constitutional proposal would you have supported? Why?
Why do you think the framers were silent on the issue of slavery in the wording of the Constitution? What were the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation?
What were the issues in the Constitutional Convention? Who were the Federalists and Anti-Federalists?
B. Living with the Constitution
What are the formal and informal methods of constitutional change?
How do checks and balances work in the lawmaking process today? Which current and important events do you think are examples of the success of checks and balances?
Do you think the Constitution is a relevant political document for the twenty-first century? What new amendments might be appropriate today?
