The Facebook has become an essential part of almost every university students’ daily life, and while a large
number of students seem to get benefits from use of the Facebook by exchanging information for educational
goals, make friends, and other activities, the literature indicates that this social networking site can become
addictive to some university students’ users, which is one of the today’s higher education matters. The aim of this
study, therefore, is to explore the phenomenon of Facebook addiction among university students. Qualitative
study using interview is used to gather data from nine International postgraduates of Universiti Putra Malaysia
and the data established three themes (Compulsion to check Facebook, High frequency use, and Using Facebook
to avoid offline responsibility) relied on the participants interviews. The findings from these three themes
showed that these users considered their Facebook dependency, are known as salience, tolerance, and conflict.
These results also lead to the conclusion that like most activities, moderation and controlled use are key. So, the
best approach to preparing students for life in a knowledge-based society is to help them exercise self-control
and achieve a level of balance when using Facebook. It is believed that the findings of this study would help
other Facebook researchers by contributing to the limited academic literature in this area.

Social media is a web-based service that gives individual the opportunity to create either a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, furthermore it’s add a list of others with which they share a connection, view their list of connections and those made within the system. Therefore, this study is aim at examining the impact of use of social networking on students’ academic performance in Federal University Gashua. In other to measure social media platforms a questionnaire was developed based on past literatures. The independent variables includes: time appropriateness, time duration, Nature of Usage and type of social networking, while the dependent variable is student CGPA. The sample of 130 students from Department of computer science was selected using convenient sampling method. The data collected was analyzed using description means python programming. Thus considering the abnormal use of Social networking platforms by students, it is expedient that Federal University Gashua educate their students to positively use these platforms for educational purposes which will eventually result in a positive impact on their academic performance.

ONLINE SELF-MANAGEMENT LEARNING, SELF-DISCIPLINE AND SELF-CONTROL ON STUDENTS...InternationalPublica
This study determined the influence of online self-management learning, self-discipline, and self-control on the academic performance of public junior high school students in Bustos, Bulacan during the School Year 2021-2022. With explanatory sequential mixed methods as research design and 287 students as respondents of the study, findings showed that the junior high school students almost always managed their online learning in terms of task strategies, time management, help seeking, and self-evaluation. Meanwhile, the junior high school students agreed that they have self-discipline in the new normal in terms of study in a plan and strongly agreed in terms of attention. On the other hand, the junior high school students are highly proficient in so far as their self-control in the new normal is concerned. The academic performance of the junior high school students in the new normal was described as “very satisfactory”. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusion was drawn: There is a significant relationship between the junior high school students’ online self-management learning, self-discipline, self-control and their academic performance in the new normal. When the students can properly manage their online learning with self-discipline and self-control, they would be able to attain higher grades.
HOW ONLINE LEARNING, DURING COVID-19, HAS AFFECTED COMPASSION IN TEACHING AND...IJCI JOURNAL
Goetz [1] defines compassion as ‘the ability to notice physical or social distress in others and take action to address it’, with active listening, empathy, desire to help, inclusivity, understanding emotions, promoting silence, and creating a safe space being the main components of compassion in a teaching environment [2]. To understand the importance of compassion in teaching for student success, this study focusses on how an increased use of online teaching has negatively affected compassionate teaching and how that relates to student satisfaction. The present study uses a self-developed survey measure, in which, 44 undergraduate psychology students from each year group anonymously rate the use of the compassionate components. The results showed a significant correlation between hours of face-to-face teaching and compassionate scores and compassionate and enjoyment scores. Future research should consider how implementing compassion pedagogy in online learning affects enjoyment scores.
The study explored primary teachers and students’ anxiety toward online
instruction during COVID-19 pandemic, the factors affecting anxiety related
to online instruction of students and teachers in primary school. This
research study was designed to collect data from primary teachers and
students on the factors that affect anxiety in online teaching. The informants
were 127 students and 11 teachers based on the purpose of the research.
Questionnaire concerning general student data, such as gender, grade level,
online study equipment, and online learning channels. Factors influencing
anxiety in online education in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with
23 items for students and 25 items for teachers. Data is collected by online
inquiries with students and teachers According to the findings, the general
degree of factors influencing anxiety from online instruction in primary
school is at moderate level. Physical and mental elements, evaluation and
course content are the categories of factors that have the most impact on
students’ anxiety toward online learning. Meanwhile, the factors that have
the greatest impact on students’ anxiety toward online learning are
concerning about their grades and courses are extremely recorded. Students
believe that online learning is more challenging than traditional classroom.
At the same time, teachers are worried about online assessment, concerns
about students who are unable to attend online sessions. Teachers who only
use computers to teach online have less anxiety than teachers who use
computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

Summary of the Findings, Conclusion and Recommendation
This chapter presents the summary of the findings and the discussion of the formulated
conclusion and recommendation.
Summary of Findings
Based on the gathered data of the researchers, unrestricted usage of social media has strong
relationship to the academic performance of the respondents. It affects their academic life in which
they became addicted to social media and were even distracted on making their set of priors in
school. Also, majority of the respondents said that as a result of unrestricted usage of social media,
their performances in academics became much lower.
In continuation, unrestricted usage of social media had its effects on the written works of
the respondents. Engaging in academic forums and activities on social media raises their
understanding of the topics being discussed in the class. However, the respondents would spend
their time going online checking their social media accounts rather than reading their lessons and
thus, it lessens their time in studying which may result in getting low scores to the quizzes and
exams.
Furthermore, unrestricted usage of social media had its effects on making the performance
tasks of the respondents. Group discussions on social media yield good results as far as the
academics are concerned. Yet, majority of the respondents decline any academic participation due
to social media and thus, their grades showed no improvements since they had become engaged in
social media and their academic performances were affected.
Conclusion
Based on the accumulated results, the researchers concluded that unrestricted usage of
social media strongly affects the academic performances of the G12 SHS-IT students from
PHINMA-Cagayan de Oro College. Together with the identified effects which are addiction,
distraction, and low academic performance, it results on to getting low scores on the written works
such us quizzes and exams, it also results to low performance on performing and making the
performance tasks which had the biggest portion on calculating the final grade in every subject
area.
Recommendation
To further prevent academic complications, students ought to be taught on the influence of
social media on their academic performances. And by having the teachers to exercise their power
or authority in keeping their students' gadgets under their control during class hours, the amount
2. of time to be spent on social media will drastically be limited and thus, provides an opportunity to
uphold greater academic participation.
