1.) Why is it important to ask and answer questions?
-According to Dr. Richard Paul “only students who ask questions are really thinking
and learning therefore asking questions help you focus your thinking. Answering
questions changes information into useful material that can help you achieve goals.
2.) What are the different ways to question effectively?
-Know why you question {to ask useful questions, you need to know why you are
questioning. Start defining your purpose. What am I trying to accomplish, and why?}
-Want to question {Knowing why you are questioning also helps you want to think. Be
motivated by seeking information that is related to goal achievement.}
-Question in different ways {Analyze ex: How bad is my money situation, Creatively
ex: How can I earn more money,Practically ex: Who do I talk talk to about getting a job on
campus}
3.) What are the three types of thinking skills and how can you enrich these skills?
Analyze: Gather information, Break information into parts, Examine and evaluate the
information, Make new connections among the important pieces you’ve identified.
Creatively: Brainstorm {Generate ideas without judgment} Take a new and different
look {Ask “what if” questions} Take risks {Go against established ideas &Allow mistakes}
