Other public sector roles include fire prevention specialist, hazardous materials specialist, and fire department trainer. Private sector fire protection careers include positions as firefighters for insurance companies and industry, fire protection engineers, and maintenance specialists. The chapter provides brief descriptions of the duties and requirements for many of these roles.
