Key Responsibilities:
The Shift Supervisors role consists of 4 different categories, responsibilities include:
Normal
 Managing and developing a team of 10 shift staff ensuring all tasks are completed in an efficient and proactive
manner, maintaining compliance with relevant policies and procedures
 Supervising and co-ordinating shift training, competency and development to levels required
 Monitoring and managing shift minimum manning requirements on a short and medium term basis
 Receiving and providing verbal/written information to maintain shift team situational awareness of operational
requirements
 Carrying out start/end of shift handovers and communicating relevant information
 Monitoring refinery effluent discharge levels against set parameters
 Supervising and co-ordinating hydrocarbon moves to/from the refinery, also internal moves to/from units and
despatch as per production programme
 Carrying out procedure and drawings review, commenting and implementing changes
 Participating in HSEQ audits

 Carrying out problem detection and diagnosis, implementing recovery actions for emergencies
 Investigating and reporting accidents and near misses
 Providing control room and field troubleshooting support
 Carrying out risk assessments :task analysis :root cause analysis :hazard identification :person and process
safety/reliability, also how abnormal weather conditions affect site operations
Maintenance
 Issuing permits to work and checking permit work areas before, during and after works
 Organising equipment preparation, decommissioning and recommissioning
 Working closely with maintenance engineers on behalf of operations
Emergencies
 Acting as Initial Incident Controller in absence of Shift Controller, carrying out detection, diagnosis and
recovery
 Participating and organising emergency preparedness, competency development and assurance

 One of only 100 staff to be awarded a Total Global Refinery and Chemicals award in 2015 for involvement in
the Offsite Management Investigation Team (MIT)
 Part of MIT that designed the implementation of a major maintenance strategy and operational
procedures/training folders being rewritten to reflect changes in operations

Position: Off Sites Operator/Trainer

Key Responsibilities:
 Control Room Operator, SCADA controlled monitoring valve movements, flows, pressures, temperatures and
levels, making adjustments as required
 Outside Operator monitoring the loading pumps lining up routes to required tankage
 Operating the loading facility monitoring valves, pumps, motors, hydraulic lances, vapour recovery systems,
taking samples when required to ensure conformance to standards
 Training new starters in all aspects of the operation to competent standards as per policies and procedures
