Chap 6to8 presentation
1. Reflection
• I see ideas and ideals that certain teachers
employ to create the “perfect” learning
environment. I want you to think of the effort
they put into that lesson plan to create such a
work of art. It takes time, patients, and most
importantly, ingenuity.
2. Chapter 6 – Multiple Intelligences
• Multiple Intelligences NOT just two
– Gardner studied brain-damaged patients
• Eight Intelligences
• Intelligences helping diverse learners
– Gifted and Talented
– Special needs
– ELL
• How can we bring in these teaching tactics
– 4 Learning Domains for MI learning
– Strategies: What will you employ in your classroom for
your subject?
3. Chapter 7 – Using Technology
• Project Based Learning (PBL)
– “Learning through doing”
– Buck Institute of Education (BIE)
• Using Technology
– Web 2.0
– When you are a teacher, what technology are you
excited to use?
4. Chapter 8 - Diversity
• Family
– Head Start Program
• Developmentally Appropriate Practice
– Age, Social/Cultural, Individual
• Knowledge, skills, dispositions and feelings
• Effective Classroom Practices
– Project approach
– Environments
– Learning Centers
– Outdoor Learning
• Everything children do, in some way, shape or form, they
are learning. So, how do we get our classroom ready for
them?
5. Something to leave you with
• We can see there are changing educational
ideologies (MI, technology, diversity, etc.) that
are proving to work and changing the way we
teach, yet standardized testing for
primary/secondary schools has not changed
much at all. Why do think? Is this really the
problem, or is the problem elsewhere?
