My tentative argumentative thesis statement is, social media access should be limited or prevented for young children. Giving internet access freely to young children without adult supervision/consent can put themselves and family at risk of internet stalkers, child predators, cyber bullying, and identity theft. As stated, “Parental monitoring of children’s media influences children’s sleeping habits, school routine, social and aggressive behaviors, and that these impacts are reconciled through the amount of time spent watching and contact with media violence. Parental monitoring of media has defensive impact on a wide variety of academic, social, and physical child habits.” Doing my research, I learned that a lot of parents give internet access freely to their child and don’t think about the effects it will have on their developmental skills and health.

My tentative argumentative thesis statement is, social media access should be limited or prevented for young children. Giving internet access freely to young children without adult supervision/consent can put themselves and family at risk of internet stalkers, child predators, cyber bullying, and identity theft. As stated, “Parental monitoring of children’s media influences children’s sleeping habits, school routine, social and aggressive behaviors, and that these impacts are reconciled through the amount of time spent watching and contact with media violence. Parental monitoring of media has defensive impact on a wide variety of academic, social, and physical child habits.” Doing my research, I learned that a lot of parents give internet access freely to their child and don’t think about the effects it will have on their developmental skills and health.

Engaging in various forms of social media is a routine activity that
researchhasshown tobenefit childrenandadolescentsbyenhancing
communication, social connection, and even technical skills.1 Social
mediasitessuchasFacebookandMySpaceoffermultipledaily oppor-
tunities for connecting with friends, classmates, and people with
shared interests. During the last 5 years, the number of preadoles-
cents and adolescents using such sites has increased dramatically.
According to a recent poll, 22% of teenagers log on to their favorite
social media site more than 10 times a day, and more than half of
adolescents log on to a social media site more than once a day.2
Seventy-five percent of teenagers now own cell phones, and 25% use
themforsocialmedia, 54%use themfor texting,and24%use themfor
instantmessaging.3 Thus, a large part of this generation’s social and
emotional development is occurringwhile on the Internet and on cell
phones.
Because of their limited capacity for self-regulation and susceptibility
to peer pressure, children and adolescents are at some risk as they
navigateandexperimentwithsocialmedia. Recent research indicates
that therearefrequentonlineexpressionsofofflinebehaviors,suchas
bullying, clique-forming, and sexual experimentation,4 that have intro-
ducedproblemssuchascyberbullying,5 privacy issues, and“sexting.”6
Other problems that merit awareness include Internet addiction and
concurrent sleepdeprivation.7
Many parents today use technology incredibly well and feel comfort-

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UP
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the

- 2. Introduction • Social media are computer mediated technologies that enable the creation and allocation of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks.
- 3. • Social media use web based technologies, desktop computers and mobile technologies eg. Computers, tablets and smartphones to create highly collaborating platforms through which individuals communities and institutions can share discuss, share and modify user generated content and pre made content posted online.
- 4. • Gameinfowire (2008) indicates that there are frequent online expressions of offline behaviours such as bulling, clique-forming and sexual experimentation that have introduced problems such as cyberbullying, privacy issues and sexting.
- 5. Risk (Problems) of Social Media on adolescent • Cyberbullying and online harassment: This is a process of using digital media to communicate false, embarrassing or hostile information about another person. It is the most common online risk for all teens and is a peer-to-peer risk. Online harassment is often used inter changeably with the term “cyberbullying”.
- 6. • Facebook Depression: Researches on excessive chatting on Facebook accessed have proposed a new phenomenon called “Facebook depression” defined as depression (Hankins & Jiao (1999) that develops when pre-teens and teens spend a great deal of time on social media sites such as Facebook and then begin to exhibit classic symptoms of depression. Acceptance by and contact with peers is an important element of adolescents life.
- 7. • Defective social relationship: Spending countless hours on the internet, children spend very limited time with family and actual friends. This weakens the family bond and limit interaction with actual people. These children miss out on real life interaction with different relatives which results in distorted social skills and limited real life social network leading to social isolation.
- 8. Benefits of Adolescents using Social Media • Socialization and Communication. • Accessing Health Information. • Enhanced Learning Opportunities.

Conclusion • Many social media sites display multiple advertisements such as banner ads, behaviour ads that target people on the basis of their web-browsing behaviour and demographic-base ads that target people on the basis of a specific factor such as age, gender, education, marital status that influence not only the buying tendencies of preadolescents and adolescents but also their views of what is normal. It is also important for parents to be aware of the behavioural ads because they are common on social media sites and operates by gathering information on the person using a site.
- 10. Conclusion • Precaution should be used to educate children and adolescents about online world and how to manage and avoid its hazards. A prime concern of parents is that the internet affects the social skills of children. There are two ways of looking at this; the internet critics would say that children tend to spend less time in social activities or communicating with family and friends. On the other hand the internet enables them to make new friends who are situated in distant places.
