- 2. “ Nickelback, who take their name from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger had to frequently give customers back from their coffees at his job at Starbucks” We think this statement sums up how the song connects to this project and how money is a constant fixture in every bodies life. In the song ”Rockstar” Mike Kroeger depicts the life that many people want but cannot obtain because of the scarcity that we know exists. We are going to use economic concepts to illustrate the economic perspective and direction of this song.
- 3. I'm through with standing in line To clubs we'll never get in It's like the bottom of the ninth And I'm never gonna win This life hasn't turned out Quite the way I want it to be (Tell me what you want) The concepts of scarcity and unlimited wants are clearly portrayed by the speaker because of the life style and the status that he depicts. The last line also elaborates this by saying “Tell me what you want.”
- 4. I want a brand new house On an episode of Cribs And a bathroom I can play baseball in And a king size tub big enough For ten plus me (So what you need?)
- 5. I'll need a credit card that's got no limit And a big black jet with a bedroom in it Gonna join the mile high club At thirty-seven thousand feet (Been there, done that) People with rockstar status have a lot of attention on them so everything they do is followed by the general public. The consumption trends that they start because of their impact on culture can change total expenditures on parts of the economy.
- 6. I want a new tour bus full of old guitars My own star on Hollywood Boulevard Somewhere between Cher and James Dean is fine for me (So how you gonna do it?) The speaker wants all these things that he believes is a part of the rockstar lifestyle. However it is impossible for him to acquire all these things because of the scarcity in the modern world.
- 7. I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame I'd even cut my hair and change my name 'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat And we'll hang out in the coolest bars In the VIP with the movie stars Every good gold digger's Gonna wind up there Every Playboy bunny With her bleach blond hair
- 8. I wanna be great like Elvis without the tassels Hire eight body guards that love to beat up assholes Sign a couple autographs So I can eat my meals for free (I'll have the quesadilla on the house) I'm gonna dress my ass With the latest fashion Get a front door key to the Playboy mansion

I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame I'd even cut my hair and change my name Dissaving can happen very easily in a household because there is no fixed income. If a band looses fans than the income will decrease but if spending doesn’t decrease a household can go in to debt very easily.

And we'll hide out in the private rooms With the latest dictionary and today's who's who They'll get you anything with that evil smile Everybody's got Everybody's got a drug dealer on speed dial Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar a drug dealer on speed dial Rockstars can affect the GDP of a country negatively. Sometimes celebrities think they are above the law and use their fame and income to procure illicit goods and services . These goods and services are not part of the real GDP because they are sold on the blackmarket.
