Akon is a Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, record producer, and businessman. He rose to prominence in 2004 with the release of "Locked Up", the first single from his debut album Trouble. Since then, he has produced numerous hit singles for himself and other artists. Some of his most popular songs include "Lonely", "Ghetto", and "I Wanna Love You" featuring Snoop Dogg. He has received six Grammy Award nominations and won a Grammy for his single "Smack That".
