ACTIVITY 1
 Suppose you are on a boat with eight (8) people in different
professions, like
The Captain of the boat himself, Teacher, Caregiver, Doctor,
Nurse, engineer, foreman, Reporter
 While sailing, the captain found out that the boat is sinking. In
order to save the people three of them needs to sacrifice. If
you are the captain of the boat, who among these three you
will sacrifice? Why?

MODULE 7
BRINGING THE JOURNEY WHERE I AM
OBJECTIVES:
 At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to,
a. identify their current situation in relation to their life and
profession
b. demonstrate appreciation on their current situation
through SWOT
c. list down challenges that they encounter as they post
through in their life and profession.
QUESTIONS:
 If you are the captain of the boat, who do you think the
three that you need to sacrifice to save you and the
other three? Why?
EXPLAIN: “The true purpose of the strong is to
promote greater strength in the weak, and not
to keep the weak in that state where they are at
the mercy of the strong.” -- Christian D. Larson
LECTURETTE:
 CAREER DEVELOPMENT is a lifelong process that includes physical, cognitive,
and emotional development (Seligman, 1980). There are lots of factors that
influence lifelong career development process. These are generally classified
as psychological and social factors that are developed by affecting each other
mutually. The most important feature that affects vocational development are
the skills that an individual has.
 Remember that each person has different difficulties and boundaries that may
hinder him/her from pursuing a career goal. The STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES,
OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS (SWOT) activity enables the learners to realize
and prioritize their own interests that they owe to value in planning for life
because this will lead them to whatever career goal they want to achieve.
SWOT
 STRENGTH – internal attributes and resources that support
successful outcome of the chosen track and strand
 WEAKNESSES – internal attributes and resources that work
against successful outcome of the chosen track and strand
 OPPORTUNITIES – external factors of the career goal that can be
capitalized on or used to its advantage.
 THREATS – external factors that could jeopardize the career
goal.

  • 3. MOTIVATION Group yourselves according to your similar chosen profession. Create your own “hugot” or pick-up lines to be presented in class.
  • 4.  How did you feel about the activity? Why?  What inspired/motivated you in formulating such hugot/pick-up lines?  What are challenges/threats that you think you face in your current situation in relation to your status in life and profession? Questions:
  • 5. ACTIVITY 1  Suppose you are on a boat with eight (8) people in different professions, like The Captain of the boat himself, Teacher, Caregiver, Doctor, Nurse, engineer, foreman, Reporter  While sailing, the captain found out that the boat is sinking. In order to save the people three of them needs to sacrifice. If you are the captain of the boat, who among these three you will sacrifice? Why?
  • 7. MODULE 7 BRINGING THE JOURNEY WHERE I AM OBJECTIVES:  At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to, a. identify their current situation in relation to their life and profession b. demonstrate appreciation on their current situation through SWOT c. list down challenges that they encounter as they post through in their life and profession.
  • 8. QUESTIONS:  If you are the captain of the boat, who do you think the three that you need to sacrifice to save you and the other three? Why? EXPLAIN: “The true purpose of the strong is to promote greater strength in the weak, and not to keep the weak in that state where they are at the mercy of the strong.” -- Christian D. Larson
  • 9. LECTURETTE:  CAREER DEVELOPMENT is a lifelong process that includes physical, cognitive, and emotional development (Seligman, 1980). There are lots of factors that influence lifelong career development process. These are generally classified as psychological and social factors that are developed by affecting each other mutually. The most important feature that affects vocational development are the skills that an individual has.  Remember that each person has different difficulties and boundaries that may hinder him/her from pursuing a career goal. The STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS (SWOT) activity enables the learners to realize and prioritize their own interests that they owe to value in planning for life because this will lead them to whatever career goal they want to achieve.
  • 10. SWOT  STRENGTH – internal attributes and resources that support successful outcome of the chosen track and strand  WEAKNESSES – internal attributes and resources that work against successful outcome of the chosen track and strand  OPPORTUNITIES – external factors of the career goal that can be capitalized on or used to its advantage.  THREATS – external factors that could jeopardize the career goal.

  • 13. EVALUATION In a ½ sheet of pad paper, write an essay about your current situation in relation to your status in life and profession and how does SWOT Analysis activity affect your decision in choosing your career ?
  • 14. ASSIGNMENT: Have a copy of the lyrics of “The Journey” by Lea Salonga. Write a reflection about the message of the song.
