Problem:
Build a program profiler. Construct a program to instrument C++ source code to support program profiling.
It is often important to determine how many times a function or statement is executed. This is useful not only for debugging but for determining what parts of a program may need to be optimized. This process is called profiling. That is, a execution profile presents how many times each part of a program is executed using a given set of input data (or for some run time scenario). To compute a profile, statements need to be added to the code that keep track of how many times a function or statement is executed. The process of adding these statements is called instrumenting the code.
To implement a profiler one must first parse the source code and generate an Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) of the code. Each node of the AST describes the syntactic category of the code stored within it (function, statement, while-statement, etc.). So at the top level is a syntactic category corresponding to a program, class, or function (such as in the case of a main). Under that are sub-trees that further detail the syntactic categories of each part of the code. Such things as declarations, parameter lists, while-statement, and expression statements will describe the various parts of the program.
After the AST is generated it can then be traversed and the appropriate syntactic structures can be found that need to be instrumented. Once a construct is found, say a function, new code can be inserted that keeps track of how many times that function is executed.
The most difficult part of constructing a profiler is correctly parsing the source code. Unfortunately, C++ is notoriously difficult to parse. So here we will use a parsing tool called src2srcml. This tool reads in C++ code and marks up the code with XML tags (e.g., block, if, while, condition, name, etc). That is, the output is an AST in XML. The XML representation is called srcML (source code markup language).
A number of srcML data files are provided for the project. However, you can use your own program as input. To run srcML on wasp or hornet you will first need to set a PATH variable so the command can be found. You need to execute the command:
export PATH=/local/opt/srcml/bin:$PATH
It is best if you insert this line into your .bash_profile file in your home directory on wasp/hornet.
Then to generate the srcML file for your own code use the following:
src2srcml main.cpp -o main.cpp.xml

1.The gene encoding the production of protein is transcribed into the gene language required for
the next stage which is RNA. The RNA is then transcribed into protein for protection or the
function assigned. This is a simple illustration of how DNA can regulate expression of
characteristics.There are 2 parts to this process:translation and transcription.The gene for a
particular trait undergoes a process called transcription. This is a process in which the language
of the body\'s make-up is transcribed from one cell language to another (DNA to RNA) which
the body will recognize in order to carry out the next process. The next process is the translation
of the information from RNA to the actual product, which is the protein. Specific proteins play
specific roles so the body synthesizes the specific protein for the specific job at the specific time.
2.Errors in protein synthesis disrupt cellular fitness, cause disease phenotypes, and shape gene
and genome evolution.errors in protein synthesis reduce organism fitness: disruption of
translational fidelity with common antibiotics such as streptomycin and kanamycin kills bacteria;
cells with impaired translational proofreading ability display altered morphologies and suffer
severe fitness defects, as do cells with elevated rates of transcription errors in an essential gene;
defects in translational fidelity and in protein folding cause disease phenotypes in mouse
models.Synthesis and degradation of non-functional proteins may also be costly without being
obviously harmful. Ribosomal throughput dedicated to a polypeptide that will ultimately fail to

Solution Okay So basically what you have to create a C Program for an application. This should be called CenTable. Input: 1. This system will take as input a text file which contains information about countries and their census. It must be containing a lot of fields. You need to once take a look at the file to
- 2. understand what format it is in and create your program accordingly. 2. The next input is a commnd line argument which would be given while running the program. This would be the name of the new file your program will create as an output. 3. Another input will be again a command line argument that is either -h or -t where -h indicates that your program will generate a HTML file and -t indicates that your program generates a text file. Processing: What you have to do is, 1. Read the input file. Have different array variables that will strore different fields provided in the file in the same order. 2. Have two functions - one for HTML file creation and one for text file creation. 3. In HTML file creation function, have your standard out to first add the header, body and table heading tags. Then have a loop to add each and every row of the table with data. Also provide the attributes for table (aligment). Dont forget to name this file with the extension .html 4. In text file creation function, use standard output to do the same job as above but the spacing and formatting must be hardcoded. i.e you have to provide dashes(-) to provide table borders. Name this file with .txt extension. Output: Either a html file or a txt file that will contain tables regarding census information for all the countries.
