The cell has an outer layer called the cell membrane or cell wall that controls what enters and exits the cell. Inside the cell is the cytoplasm, a semi-fluid substance that holds organelles. The cytoplasm also contains the cytoskeleton, a network of fibers that provides structure and support like bones within the cell.
