Definition and Purpose
Cell Fusion is fusion of two different cells into a
single unite which contains genes from both the
original cell.
That has purpose is to make hibridoma, that use
make antibodies in medical investigation and
treatment
The benefit of Cell Fusion
• Mapping the chromosome
• To make antibodies monoclonal
• To create new species
The Goodness of Cell Fusion
1. can produce hormones and antibodies in
large quantities (great number).
2. crossed or cut the species barrier genetically
that can’t be done by through the fusion of
gametes.
The weakness of Cell Fusion
1. Low genetic stability and a high risk of
contamination
2. The quality and quantity of antibodies
produced low
3. Expensive because it uses materials and
equipment mammalian cell culture
4. Genetic engineering can not be done
