The rainforest biome supports an immense diversity of plant and animal life, as two-thirds of the world's plant species and one-fourth of all flower species are found within tropical rainforests. Rainforests receive heavy rainfall but can experience flooding if rains are too abundant, and they cover most of the Earth's surface except for one region shown in green on a picture.
