Celador was originally taken over by Complete Communications but was later bought back by its management. It produces films on a small scale by contracting freelance staff for each project and obtaining funding through various means like bank loans or co-productions. Celador has produced seven films since 1999 across different genres that it markets and distributes, in addition to operating two radio stations. While a small company, Celador has found success with films like Slumdog Millionaire, though it faces competition from larger studios like Sony Pictures that have significantly higher production budgets.

2. A) Ownership - What is the history of Celador films?
Celador was taken over by ‘complete communications’, who bought out shareholders
including Paul Smith CBE as well as Jasper Carrott. Now under the the ownership of
Celador expanded their film, radio and international businesses. Later, complete
Communications proclaimed its intention to sell the company. It was at that time the
sell off of Celador international and the rights and associated properties ‘Who Wants
To Be A Millionaire? 'to the Dutch group 2waytraffic, Caldor's management finished a
buy out of the company.
In 2004 Celador took legal action against Disney for what it claimed were unpaid
profits from Disney’s screening of the programme in the US.

3. B) Operating Model
They contract freelance staff to get their films made, which means that they are there
only to make that certain film. Small production companies like Celador often get their
funding through initial capitalization, this can be through bank loans, investors or even
personal finance. Co funding could and partnership could also be an option, usually
lots smaller companies get together to make a film and put together their funds. They
could operate through distribution fees by selling the project to a distributor before its
made. They could also license the project to a big production company.

Products celador began making films in 1999 and since that year they have made
several films in ten years. The seven films they have created are; Centurion (2010), The
scouting book for boys (2009), The Descent: Part Two (2009), Slum Dog Millionaire
(2008), Separate Lies (2005), The Descent (2005),Dirty Pretty Things (2002).
They also have two radio stations.
Celador now work on film production, radio broadcasting, theatrical production and
music publishing.

5. D) Market Position
Celador Films have ticket sales as well as DVD sales once it is out. Even though celador
are a small company they are still a successful.

6. E) Competitors
• Celador is a small company but still ha some big competitors. One of their biggest
threats are Sony Pictures Entertainment. Smurfs which Sony produced cost up to
100+ million where Celador are a lot lower in their budget. Film 4 are also a
competitor
