Ask:
What is meant to be
different from
someone else?
Divide the class into
pairs or small groups
and ask them to
discuss what they think
sexual orientation and

5. Divide the students into
pairs or small groups and
give each group a bag or

6. Start the activity by
saying a word out loud.
The students then have to
find and collect the
flashcard with the
corresponding word.
7. Once they find a
flashcard, they should
take turns reading the
word aloud to practice
pronunciation.
8. Encourage the students
to help each other if they
get stuck on a word or if
they find a flashcard that
their partner needs.
9. After a set amount of
time, gather the students
together and review the
words they found,
discussing their
meanings, spellings, and
any related information.
4. b. During Reading

Victoria’s great-great-

Questions:
1. Name two things that

4. How do you think
Perseus felt when he was
Once upon a time, in a
small village named
Maguinda, there were
people from different
cultures living together.
They had different
beliefs, traditions, and
ways of living, but they
always respected each
other's differences.
Justice was the
foundation that held
their community
together, ensuring
fairness and equality
for all.
In Maguinda, there was
a wise old man named
Mr. Johnson. He had a
reputation for settling
disputes and promoting
justice in the village.
One day, a conflict
arose between two
children, Amina and
Carlos, from different
cultural backgrounds.
They had been friends
for years but started
having
misunderstandings due
to their cultural
differences.
Mr. Johnson decided to
intervene and teach the
children about
intercultural sensitivity
and justice. He
Visible differences are
characteristics that we
can see with our eyes.
Some examples
include the color of our
skin, our hair texture, or
even our height. These
differences are
noticeable because
they are visible to
others.
On the other hand,
invisible differences are
characteristics that we
cannot see just by
looking at someone.
These differences are
more personal and
might include things
like our thoughts,
feelings, or beliefs.
They are not
immediately apparent
to others unless we
choose to share them.
Now, let's talk about
sexual orientation and
gender identity. These
are two aspects of
human diversity that
are both invisible
differences. Sexual
orientation refers to
who a person is
romantically or sexually
attracted to. For
example, some people
are attracted to people
of the opposite gender
(called heterosexual),
1. What is the story about?
2. Who are the characters
of the story?
3. Can you define the
behavior of the son?
4. What is the moral lesson
of the story?
What is the
importance of public
safety?
5. 3. Where was she
crowned?
Ans.: Westminster Abbey
4. What was different
about her clothes after
Albert died?
Ans.:She wore only black
to show she was in
mourning for him.
5. What is a ‘monarch’?
Ans.: A king or queen
6. Where was her
Balmoral home?
Ans.: Scotland (It is still
there and Queen Elizabeth
II also uses it now).
7. What was the name of
her house on the Isle of
Wight?
Ans.: Osborne House
8. In the Victoria and
Albert section, what does
the word ‘propose’
mean?
Ans.: Ask someone to
marry you.
given the challenge to
capture the head of
Medusa? Explain your
answer.
5. Look at the section
called The Magic
Sandals. Why is the king
of the island described as
‘cruel’?
gathered the children
and shared a story
about two neighboring
villages, Sunland and
Moonville. These
villages were filled with
people from different
cultural backgrounds
who initially struggled
to understand each
other.
In the story, the
villagers discovered
that by embracing their
differences and
showing respect for
one another, they could
build a stronger
community. They
formed a council,
consisting of
representatives from
each culture, to resolve
any conflicts fairly and
justly.
Questions:
1. Why is it important to
respect and appreciate
different cultures?
2. How can we show
intercultural sensitivity
in our daily
interactions?
3. Can you share an
example of a time when
you showed
understanding towards
someone from a
different culture?
4. What are some ways
some are attracted to
people of the same
gender (called
homosexual or
gay/lesbian), and some
are attracted to both
(called bisexual).
Gender identity, on the
other hand, refers to
how a person identifies
themselves in terms of
being male, female, or
another gender that
they feel is right for
them. Some people
identify with the gender
they were assigned at
birth (called cisgender),
while others may feel
that their gender
identity differs from the
sex assigned to them at
birth (called
transgender).
It's important to
remember that
everyone is unique and
has their own feelings
and experiences. It's
important to create an
inclusive and respectful
environment where we
can embrace and
celebrate these
differences.
Public safety serves
as a deterrent to
crime and a
safeguard against
threats to public
health and safety. It
enables law-abiding
citizens to go about
their daily lives
without fear of
violence, theft, or
other criminal
activities.
6. 9. Why couldn’t Albert
propose to Victoria?
Ans.: Because she was a
Queen and he wasn’t
allowed.
10. Do you agree that
she was ‘a really
important queen’?
Explain your opinion.
Ans.: Open discussion:
There is no evidence in the
final paragraph that she
was.
we can promote justice
and equality in our
community?
5. How can we
overcome stereotypes
and biases when
dealing with people
from different cultures?
6. What role does
empathy play in
intercultural sensitivity?
7. How can we
encourage open-
mindedness and
acceptance in others?
8. What can we do if
we witness injustice or
discrimination based on
cultural differences?
9. How does justice
contribute to creating a
harmonious and
inclusive community?
10. What steps can we
take to strengthen our
intercultural
relationships and
promote
understanding?
Intercultural
sensitivity
means the ability
to experience
one's self and
7. eventually others
in terms of
cultural identity
and behavior.
Intercultural
sensitivity is not
meant to exclude
sensitivity to
institutional
power issues, or
sensitivity to
individual
personality
issues.
Individuals differ
systematically in
how much they are
concerned with
matters of justice or
injustice. So far, in
various domains of
life, such as romantic
relationships, work,
and school contexts,
dispositional justice
sensitivity has been
found to be a
powerful predictor of
individual-level
processing and
8. interpersonal
behaviors. Yet,
matters of justice and
injustice often
materialize at the
group level,
especially when
conflicts about
status, rights, and
resources occur
between groups.
Example :
People who
seamlessly interact
with others from
different cultures by
following the norms of
that culture. They feel
that they can respect
their own values
while adapting to the
values of other
cultures they interact
with. They use
empathy effectively.
Another example,
someone you met
from another region,
someone who speaks
a different language,
9. someone from a
different religion or
from a different ethnic
group. This focus is
on ONE event or
experience which you
have had with
someone different
from yourself.
c. Post Reading
What is your opinion on how
Queen Victoria dressed after the
death of her husband?
Activity: Compare the way
the Grey Sisters and the
Western Maidens treated
Perseus.
Reflect on the
importance of justice
and intercultural
sensitivity in your own
lives and in your
community.
How do you think they
feel when others don't
accept them?
What can we do to
show support?
How can we be more
inclusive in our
community?
Do you have any
experiences in life that you
are blaming everybody
around you?
Can you share it to the
class?
