This document discusses the relationship between war and love. It argues that humans are historically better at war, hate and negative emotions than love of self, others and the world. While technology and education have advanced dramatically, greed, hatred and a lack of meditation still persist. The document calls for a rise in female energy and "mothering" qualities to help heal the world. It states that creating higher consciousness for individuals and society is easier than ever, but many people still dwell in fear and do not question or seek knowledge beyond ancient religious texts. Without conscious growth to match technological advancements, humanity risks self-destruction through war.
Morrie Schwartz, a professor at Brandeis University, has been diagnosed with ALS. After gaining national attention for appearances on Nightline discussing his disease, his former student Mitch Albom reconnects with him. Over the following months, as Morrie's health declines, Mitch visits him regularly to discuss life, death, and their personal experiences. The play provides an enlightening, emotional, and sometimes humorous look at Morrie's struggle as told through his discussions with Mitch before his passing.
The document criticizes the idolization of former Maltese Prime Minister Dom Mintoff after his death, noting that many recollections portray him as a bullying man who insulted and intimidated people to get his way. It argues that just because many people expressed grief and admiration for Mintoff after his death does not mean he was generally a good leader who only benefited Malta, and that the outpouring of praise seems misplaced given the negative manner in which most people describe their actual interactions with him.
The document discusses reader comments on media coverage of the Oscar Pistorius case. Some readers argue that the media has gone too far by playing the role of judge and jury. Others note that local media has become increasingly reckless, prioritizing headlines over quality reporting. One reader believes the intense media interest in the case, compared to other crimes, shows the country's immaturity, which journalists further encourage through sensational reporting.
The document is a series of tweets discussing how people perform identities and signal preferences to others on social media. It includes quotes about how communicating local values and interacting culturally can be a performance, how signaling preferences to others is key to human action, and how having the power to define another person's story is a form of power. The tweets then provide examples of joking "#TweetLikeAForeignJournalist" headlines and promote a website for social justice hoodies.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
