Last week:  Career Pivot….changing relative to your strengths and experiences  Thought triggers and mental preparations  Examine the real reason why you are unhappy  Adjust your expectations  Have a Plan  Prepare your family  Don’t quit….. yet! If “Yes”, then some impactful next steps
  • 3. Impactful Next Steps  Structure your process  Assess your current resources  Determine your fears, transferable skills, passion and interest  Determine your preferred company culture / bucket list  Connect  Be prepared  Continually review
  • 4. Structure Your Process  If you are still employed  Be discrete  Allocate 30-60 minutes a day  If you have “time flexibility”  Structure your day like a work day – have a routine  Allocate specific times for  Research  Connecting  Informational interviews  Allocate “office space”
  • 5. Assess Your Resources  Monthly expenses  30-60-90 day plan and milestones  Prioritise  Be realistic and practical  Identify your “walk-away” salary rate
  • 6. Fears, Skills, Passion, Interest  Remove your mental roadblocks  List down your fears  “fear of failure” is often the basis of all fears  Consider the process as a journey of experimenting  Mantra eg “I am in control”  Identify your transferable skills (objective, quantifiable and provable)  Match these with your passion and interest  Remove “burnout skills”

Targeted Organisation  Identify a preferred company culture and criteria  “Must haves” vs “nice to have”  Develop a bucket list of companies  Develop options  contract or part time opportunities  horizontal opportunities  related companies or industries too Find problems which you can solve
  • 8. Connect  Tidy up your social media (linkedin)  Reach out to your network  Conduct informational interviews Career pivoters have greater success thro network recommendations or referrals, than via standard online applications which are designed to automatically weed out “unqualified candidates”
  • 9. Be Prepared  Practice interview skills (F2F and virtual)  Develop Interview FAQs  Fine tune your personal branding statement/s  Resume and Cover Letters
  • 10. Review  Continually review your thought triggers  Continually review your plan Take Action, Take Charge!
