This document discusses various cardiac pathologies including congenital heart disease, ischemic heart disease, valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, and pericardial disease. Congenital heart disease can cause mixing of oxygenated and unoxygenated blood and be present at birth. Ischemic heart disease is mainly caused by atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries and can lead to angina, myocardial infarction, or heart failure. Valvular diseases like rheumatic fever can cause valve stenosis or incompetence. Cardiomyopathy and pericarditis weaken the myocardium and pericardium respectively.
