3. 3.MANUFACTURING PROCESS
A. ISOMERIZATION
B. DISTILLATION OF CRUDE CAMPHENE
C. ESTERIFICATION
D. DISTILLATION OF CRUDE IBA
(ISOBORNEOL ACITED)
E. SPONIFICATION
F. DEHYDROGENATION
G. DISTILLATION OF CRUDE CAMPHOR
4. The industry of Camphor & Allied Products Ltd.in
Bareilly was stabilised in 1961 by the chair man shri
Jayant Dayal.
The camphor firstly published by Gustaf Komppa in
1903 from the camphoric acid.
But industry of CAP Ltd. Bareilly is produce the
camphor by the α-pinene.
The major source α-pinene is in Asia and China.
Camphor is a waxy, flammable, white or transparent
solid with a strong aroma.
5. In simple word Administration
Department related to
management and whole
administration of the industry.
In “Camphor & Allied products
Ltd”, work of Administration
Department is to control all the
administrative work of the
Industry.
6. In “Camphor & Allied Products
Ltd”, Engineering department
maintaining the supply of raw
material different type of
engineering and machinery.
Maintain efficiency of plant and
also improve it.
Automation of whole plant.
Control production and working
of plant.
7. As the name suggests the
purpose of production plant is
to maintain the production
process and produce finish
product from raw material.
Produce tablets of camphor in
different size from the
camphor powder.
8. Crude Camphene
Pure Camphene
Alpha Pinene
Distillation (with acetic acid)
Pure Isoborneol Acetate
TiO2 Catalyst (isomerisation )
Esterification
(Acetic Acid)
Cu - Ni catalyst ( Dehydration )
Crude Isoborneol Acetate
Saponification (NaOH)
Distillation
Crude Camphor
Isoborneol
Distil
Pure camphor
9. First of α-pinene is taken as raw material
from the storage tank.
These α-pinene feed in reactor R-1 at the
room temperature or above and heated up
to 155oC with TiO2 .
α-pinene is converted in to crude camphene.
10. Crude camphene is feed in distillation tower
at 250C.
Crude camphene and acetic acid are mixed
together in mixture tank.
These crude camphene is heated by the
steam.
11. Crude camphene further mixed with the
acetic acid.
Start esterification process in the presence
of Tulsan catalyst in the esterification
reactor.
In this process crude IBA is produce.
12. Remove the moisture from crude IBA in
presence of acetic acid.
After removing the moisture pure
Isoborneol acetate is occur.
Pure IBA is supply to the CPP – 2.
13. This process is occur in CPP -2.
Distilled IBA is supply in this plant.
These IBA is mixed with caustic in
presence of solvent (Xylene) at 1650C.
After reaction Isoborneol and sodium
acetate are produced.
14. In this process Isoborneol is supply.
IB mixed with the CuCO3 or NiCO3 .
These mixture is heated up to 2500C,
then xylene is remove from IB.
Crude camphor is take place.
These crude camphor is supply in the
distillation plant.
15. G. DISTILLATION OF CRUDE CAMPHOR
In this process three tower are installed namely T2 , T3 ,
T4 .
In this tower we separate mainly xylene and it
collected in storage tank.
Further product from T2 to feed in T3 here, we separate
mainly low boiled camphor oil and collected in storage
tank.
product from T3 (Distillate) crude Camphor feed in
tower T4.
The final product of Crude camphor will be separate out
in the form of pure camphor.
