Editor's Notes

  • #3 We are the CAMHS Rights and Participation team. We are a team that work on improving mental health services in Surrey for young people. We believe that a service aimed at young people should be developed by young people therefore making it useful and effective for the users utilising it. We go to conferences, in to schools, CAMHS clinics and all sorts of places to spread the word about mental health awareness and to try and decrease the stigma!
  • #4 Participation for us is getting young people involved in decision making and improving mental health services for future service users. It involves professionals and young people coming together collaboratively to change and develop services together
  • #5 Upload training is a compulsory training course which all mental health professionals in Surrey must attend. It is a training developed around seeing things from a young persons perspective. We incorporate different exercises to portray what young people find important for professionals to know... Covering serious topics but in FUN WAY.. SUCH AS SPEEDDATING ETC
  • #6 Our Voice is a magazine which young people with mental health issues produce for young people with mental health issues. It is aimed to raise awareness, help young people to feel less alone and to give young people resources that they can use to help themselves!
  • #7 Recruit Crew is a mandatory practise whereby there has to be a young person on each interview panels for mental health professionals across Surrey. We believe that young peoples opinions should be taken in to consideration all the way across the board including who is employed.
  • #8 So there you have a few of our bigger projects, and I now want to tell you a few of our other ones, some that have made a big impact, with the aim to inspire you to take some of these back to your team/services
