Components Of A Digital Camera Digital cameras contain several key components that work together to capture images. These include: - A lens that focuses light and captures the image, and different types of lenses exist like wide-angle and telephoto. - An image sensor that detects the light focused through the lens and converts it to digital information. - Additional components like memory cards that store the captured images, shutter speed and aperture settings that control the light exposure, and viewfinders to frame the image. - Different camera types have different features, like DSLRs allowing lens changes and compact cameras being simpler point-and-shoot models.

Cameras:
A manual mode camera is camera that gives you control over the camera’s different
and a number of various settings. A camera which uses manual mode is a SLR, which
stands for Single Lens Reflex. This is an example of SLR

compatible to smartphones made by Sony. Point and Shoot cameras are
cameras that are mainly used for simple functions. It uses the characteristic
of having autofocus or focus free lenses for focusing, a built in flash unit and
preset exposure settings available on the camera.
Capture Images:
Viewfinder on a camera, is the place which the photographer looks
through to adjust or focus the picture. This (Viewfinder) is usually
in use, if the photographer isn’t using the viewfinder. Most
viewfinders on cameras, are separate being place at the top of the
camera and usually suffer parallax. Parallax is when viewpoint
moves side to side and objects in the distance move slower than
objects closer to the camera. A lens is the device on the camera
which can be permanently fixed to a camera and actually captures
the image for the camera. There are a number of
different lens types. The type of lenses camera
use are Wide-angle, Fast prime, Telephoto,
Premium and Marco. Some SLR or DSLR cameras
give you the option to change the camera lens.
For example, Canon EOS 6D allows you remove
and change the camera lens. The image sensor is
a sensor which notices and
carries a part of information of an image. The image
sensor act as a converter for camera. So in this instance,
when a picture is taken on a camera, the image sensor
picks up a light coming into the lens and converts that

light into the image you see on the camera screen. DLSR cameras have bigger image
sensors then image sensors in compact camera. This would
mean that DSLR cameras have a better image quality. The
camera shutter has control over how long the sensor is
exposed to light. When taking a picture, you can change the
settings of the camera shutter’s speed. For example, at a
slower speed the camera shutter will have more exposure to light
and would make the image being taken have an affect called
motion blur. When the camera has faster shutter speed, it has less
exposure to light and would freeze the exact action. An underexposed
image is the sort of photograph that one might consider to be too dark.
An overexposed image would be an image that is
too bright and has been exposed to too much
light. A memory card is a small chip that contains
space or storage, for which images or videos can
placed on. For example, when you take a
picture on a camera it tends to save on a
SD/memory card and you are go use to view
later on, on thing such as laptops or computers and
the camera itself. Another thing which closely linked
with SD card Is, the size and how much storage the SD
card can hold overall. For example, there are many
types of memory cards and those are SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (Secure Digital
High Capacity), SDXC (Secure Digital Xtra Capacity’) and CompactFlash (CF).
The SD and SDHC are similar but the SDXC just has a higher capacity or bigger
storage than a SD card. The SD card was made to only have a capacity of 2GB, so the SDXC was made
and had a storage space of 32GB. There are different formats of which images can be produced in,
there are files such as RAW and JPEG. JPEG images
tend to take up less space than others, meaning a
large number of images can be placed on a SD or
memory card. Whereas, RAW files are files which
contain all the information captured by the camera,
giving the image higher quality. Handheld cameras
tend to be used to allow more freedom of movement
when moving around with the camera in your hand.
Handheld cameras also result in images or videos that
are shakier than images or video footage of cameras that are mounted on a tripod.
Whereas a tripod is used hold and keep the camera still in the allocated position it is placed in. It is
also used to stabilize a flash unit or any other photographic unit. Tripods have
three legs and we know this from the word tri, which means three. Flash is used
on a camera to brighten or illuminate a location or scene when taken a picture.
It tends to be used if there is a dark area or scene that’s need to be made
brighter. Most modern day flash components are electronic,
evolving from flashlights or light bulbs. White balance is the
way in which unrealistic colors are deleted, so that items that appear white are
rendered white in the photo. There are different types of light in photography.
There are four types of lighting we will focusing on that are the most common
used in photography and they are tungsten, fluorescent, and natural, artificial.

allow the photographer to see exactly the
effect of the studio lights on the subject as they
are being adjusted. Tungsten lighting can now
be used to produce perfectly color balanced
pictures. Natural lighting is light that is being
used in the surrounding area. For example if you are taking picture or
recording video outside, the source of natural light would be the sunlight. Artificial lighting are lights
that are added to a location to add affect or better the brightness. For example,
light sources like lamps and light fixtures are types of
artificial. Fluorescent light is a light that uses fluorescence to
provide a visible light. Fluorescent lights can be in the form of
a lamp or a tube.
