Why it is not about the self driving carFelix Faassen
Presentation held at the Intertraffic 2017 in Amsterdam.
Current technology focus for self-driving vehicles is largely based on sensor and image processing technologies which have an event horizon of max 200 meters. Another key succes factor is that next to these sensor data a vehicle also needs to include a number of different data sources to understand the rules of the roads and also the ability to manage traffic. This talk concentrates on the key ingredient needed to cost effectively combine multiple spatial data sources and get them into the onboard systems of a vehicle
Integration and Exploration of Financial Data using Semantics and OntologiesRoberto García
Keynote at the Eurofiling XBRL Week, Academic Track, 6-9 June 2017. Hosted by the European Central Bank, Frankfurt, Germany. The keynote reported about one the first attempts to move a significant amount of XBRL to the Semantic Web, modelling XRML XML with RDF and XBRL Taxonomies with OWL.
Cambridgeshire atlases-Data visualisation of local socio-demographic dataCambridgeshireInsight
The Cambridgeshire Atlas is a display tool that allows users to view interactive atlases, dashboards, profiles or key indicator reports. It is easy to use and helps users to understand complicated socio-economic datasets quickly.
It combines maps, charts and graphs to allow viewing of data trends for different geographies in Cambridgeshire.
Cambridgeshire Atlases cover a number of themes including Census 2011, Deprivation, Community Safety, Housing, People and Population and Social Classification. See more at: http://cambridgeshireinsight.org.uk/interactive-maps
Position your place so site selectors and other target audiences don't pass your community by as they search online. Put your best 'digital' foot forward and create interest and excitement around your community's assets. Present your digital information in a way that's consumable and digestible and allows site selectors and other location decision makers to gather and compile data at the drop of a hat.
Increasing the findability of digital heritage documents by using Search Engi...Andrea Hrckova
Mass digitization of cultural heritage and the growing amount of born digital heritage documents enabled the availability of these documents to everyone. Nevertheless, in the age of big data, the availability of content is not sufficient, if it means to be discovered and reached by the public. Nowadays, Google processes on average 40,000 search queries per second, therefore this medium cannot be ignored by any subject, striving to be discovered on the Internet. Still we face an underestimation in the field of findability of digital cultural heritage. The position of a content in search engine ranking page (SERP) might be influenced by the utilization of search engine optimization (SEO) methods that are rarely used in cultural sphere. These methods include among others the appropriate user research, semantic markup according to Schema vocabulary or microformats and sufficient number of links and mentions outside the website. In this contribution, the case studies of Slovak digital heritage portals using (consciously or unconsciously) SEO methods are presented and the possibilities for further development and research are suggested. The question is, whether these methods are able not just to increase the visibility of the documents of cultural institutions, but also to contribute to the decrease of disinformation and low quality content findability on the Internet.

Is the Semantic Web what we expected? Adoption Patterns and Content-driven Ch...Chris Bizer
http://iswc2016.semanticweb.org/pages/program/keynote-bizer.html
Semantic Web technologies, such as Linked Data and Schema.org, are used by a significant number of websites to support the automated processing of their content. In the talk, I will contrast the original vision of the Semantic Web with empirical findings about the adoption of Semantic Web technologies on the Web. The analysis will show areas in which data providers behave as envisioned by the Semantic Web community but will also reveal areas in which real-world adoption patterns strongly deviate. Afterwards, I will discuss the challenges that result from the current adoption situation. To address these challenges, I will exemplify entity reconciliation, vocabulary matching, and data quality assessment techniques which exploit all semantic clues that are provided while being tolerant to noise and lazy data providers.
Towards Semantic APIs for Research Data Services (Invited Talk)Anna Fensel
Rapid development of Internet and Web technology is changing the state of the art in communication of knowledge, or results of research activities. Particularly, Semantic technology, linked and open data become key enablers for successful and efficient progress in research. At first, I define the research data service (RDS) and discuss typical current and possible future usage scenarios involving RDS. Further, I discuss the state of the art in the areas of semantic service and data annotation and API construction, as well as infrastructural solutions, applicable for RDS realisation. At last, innovative methods of online dissemination, promotion and efficient communication of research are discussed.

Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Economic Assessment Data Atlas IntroCambridgeshireInsight
The Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Economic Assessment provides a wealth of economic evidence for the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership (GCGP LEP) area and its constituent districts.
The GCGP Economic Assessment is divided into three sections: People, Business and Place. The Assessment presents a variety of data from different sources. The main geographies used in this Atlas are districts and 2011 wards, although others are used where necessary. The Atlas sits alongside analysis of the evidence and the raw data (Excel spreadsheets).
More data will be available as further datasets are added to the Assessment over the coming months. All available data can be explored from the Data Index.
This slideshow provides tips on how to use the GCGP Economic Assessment Atlas.
