Nutritive Sweeteners
I stepped of the St. Louis version of the subway and found my way to the platform. Résumé, class
schedule, and note taking paper in hand, I found my way up to a landing where I was greeted by a
woman, who introduced herself as my research supervisor, Melisa Moore, who has become a close
friend and mentor to me in education and research. Starting on the first day, I began to realize the joy
of research. That joy of learning about the unknown and using that knowledge to help others has
created a burning passion within me to pursue research, in both the present and future. That passion
has driven me to continue in my role as a research assistant for the past two years and across multiple
studies. The research in which I have been involved has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of this study is to attain more information regarding a phenomenon discovered recently in
which obese individuals that do not normally consume non nutritive sweeteners, such as sucralose,
exhibit both a metabolic and hormonal response to the consumption of these types of sweeteners. The
study is intended to ascertain information pertaining to the generalizability of this phenomena (i.e.,
whether most or all individuals with limited exposure to non nutritive sweeteners exhibit this
response) and the mechanism by which this phenomenon occurs. My role in the NNS study began by
considering a list of potential participants and removing those who would not qualify. Thus, the data
consolidation skills I had developed were extremely helpful over the next two months. After filtering
potential participants, my supervisor asked that I perform phone screens of those that passed the initial
filtration, a process that has continued. Both this study and the LID study are still in progress and are
expected to reach completion in December and June, respectively. As a result, neither study has
resulted in published results; however, both studies are in clinical trials and can be found on

Different Stages Of Cell Division
1) Cell division is typically explained through the progression of 4 distinct phases, G1, S, G2, and M,
and can be tracked through CDK complex concentration ranges. CDKs are cyclin dependent kinases,
which regulate the cell cycle of eukaryotic cells; as suggested by the name, protein kinases are an
enzyme that is dependent on cyclin for the regulation of cell division through the addition of
phosphate groups. The different stages of the cell cycle correlate with different levels of cyclin and act
as a threshold that once reached, triggers a phase transition. For example, for a cell to move out of G2
phase into M phase, Cyclin B interacts with the CDK1 complex, and causes phosphorylation to
stimulate the phase shift; however, if the stage is not complete, the whole process slows down to
accommodate the discrepancy in CDK complexes (Nelson Education, figure 9.17, page 191). This can
be caused by several things, such as the presence of damaged or deformed DNA, or externally through
contact inhibition, where a delay in phase shift is caused by partial or incomplete contact of all cells. If
there is only partial cell contact, contact inhibition will typically prevent progression past the G1
phase until there is complete cell contact, which can be reflected in variable levels of the CDK
complex(Nelson Education, page 191). Overall, CDK regulates cell division through the combination
of CDK and cyclin, the activation of protein via a phosphate group that triggers a phase change,

Huck Finn Analysis
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a sequel to the book Tom Sawyer written by Mark Twain,
where the main character, Huck Finn, was first introduced. The book had actually taken a whole 7
years to write. Mark Twain could not think of how to continue the story after the part where Huck and
Jim accidentally went too far past Cairo in the fog. Mark Twain has said that the character of Huck
Finn is based upon a real life child that Twain once knew, a man named Tom Blankenship. This story
is mainly about the growing and adventurous friendship between Huck and Jim. Huck, who is also the
narrator, has his many very wild and adventurous traits. You could maybe say that he is a bit of a
troublemaker, but also he is a very respectful and outgoing young man. Also, he has characteristics of
the way he, himself views the world around him, which are very smart, sneaky, clever and unique
ways. He doesn t have much of an education but is a very street smart kid, who even outsmarts mostly
all of the adults he encounters. Throughout the book, a major symbol is expressed, which is Huck and
Jim floating down the river together. The river symbolizes the freedom that they now have and the
river gives the story a peaceful mindset, and that as long as they are out floating on the raft they will
be free for the most part and free of any worries or stress. The freedom that the river casts upon Huck
and Jim is very unique and significant to their adventures. Before they both escaped from their

Should Smoking Be Banned In Public Places
Would you purposely stub your toe on the coffee table or purposely hit your thumb with a hammer?
Then why would you or anyone do an act that you know would hurt you or those around you? Why
would a person smoke in a public place when they know it can cause them and their loved ones harm?
This is one of many of the reasons why smoking should be banned in public places. Before we get into
the argument of whether smoking should be allowed in public places or not, we first need to identify a
few items: the concept of smoking, the reasons people smoke, the government s involvement, and an
alternative solution.
First, let us answer the question of what is smoking? Smoking refers to the inhalation and exhalation
of fumes from burning of tobacco in cigars, cigarettes and pipes (Smoking). It was first used in the
1500s by the natives of the Western Hemisphere for religious rituals and medicinal purposes
(Smoking). Next, we need to answer the question of what is considered a public place? According to
US Leal, a public place is generally an indoor or outdoor area, whether privately or publicly owned, to
which the public have access by right or by invitation, expressed or implied, whether by payment of
money or not .
Another question you may be asking yourself is why do people smoke? There could be a number of
reasons why people choose to smoke, but the most common reasons include addiction, emotions, and
routine (Reasons). With addiction, people become dependent on

The Myth of Exodus Essay
The Myth of Exodus
There are many themes running through the Old Testament myth of Exodus slavery, rescue and
redemption, guidance, commandments on how to live, the creation of a nation, and God s power over
other gods. In this paper I will explore what appears to be the chief reasoning behind the creation of
the Exodus myth the explanation of the creation of a monotheistic religion and the similarities of the
Exodus myth to the ancient myths, as well as how one should approach the reading of the myth.
First of all, we need to understand what a myth is. William Bascom says in his essay, The Forms of
Folklore: Prose Narratives , Myths are prose narratives which, in the society in which they are told,
are considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the heart of the matter, the creators of a myth are attempting to explain their world in a world
absent of science and sophisticated tools of research. In approaching myth, the reader must enter into
the world of the creators of the myth, instead of attempting to impose their own societal beliefs and
expectations on it. In short, we need to read the myth in imitation of how the myth was originally
received.
In the myth of Exodus, a monotheistic system of worship was needed in order to create a unified
nation with one god. Exodus attempts to provide an explanation for this movement away from the
traditional polytheistic religion. Lauri Honko says in her essay, The Problem of Defining Myth ,
...myths can be characterized as ontological: they are incorporated and integrated into a coherent view
of the world, and they describe very important aspects of life and the universe (Dundes 51). Within the
pages of Exodus we find the first code of laws the Ten Commandments for living as a monotheistic
society. God begins the Ten Commandments with admonishment to keep Him above all other gods,
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you
shall have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:1 3).
In this passage, God reminds Moses that God is supreme above all other gods and he reminds Moses
of the miracle he has performed in bringing the people out of Egypt. The

Reflection On Colors
I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one fourth of my entire life. I believe
that each of different colors can change someone s life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is
someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth
Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but
now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced.
Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes
can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that
impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am
saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors
impact on me.
When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands
for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in
1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my
teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I
could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I
immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple.
I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion.
Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However,
people don t know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of
Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place.
The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or
North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s
how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often)
I went to Canada this summer, and I traveled Banff and Vancouver. In Banff,

The Type Of Parenting Associated With The Tiger Mother
The type of parenting associated with the tiger mother has been a subject of intense controversy for a
very long time. Even though the term itself only became part of our understanding in 2011 thanks to
the very controversial book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, by Amy Chua, there were always
questions of how much discipline is healthy and necessary for a child.
In Chua s book, she contrasts the two sides of parenting styles: what she calls Chinese parenting and
Western parenting. Chinese parenting refers to the strict and intense style of upbringing in which the
parent has (or tries to exert) complete control over their child. The parent is wholeheartedly focused
on honing their child s skills in school, music, maybe a sport, or ... Show more content on

Western parents argue that children should be allowed to make mistakes and become better people by
learning from those errors. Thus, they say that the tiger mother doesn t love their child because it s
much harder to watch your child make mistakes in the hopes that they will learn from them than it is
to simply reprimand them (and correct and intervene, even before mistakes are made or it s too late to
be good at anything).
When Chua s book came out, the media received it with horror. Chua was called a horrible monster ,
the worst mom in the world , and many other unflattering names.. Chua shocked much of America
with her seemingly brutal parenting: many people were flabbergasted by the idea that a parent wouldn
t let their child attend a sleepover, or make them practice 4 hours of violin a day, or threaten to burn
their dolls if they didn t listen. The tiger mother had exploded onto the scene, and the onlookers were
horrified by the carnage they saw behind her. How could a mother be so tyrannical and abusive? Some
even called for Chua s arrest for child abuse. In her book, she talks about how a survey showed that
Chinese mothers thought that academic success reflected good parenting, whereas Western mothers
thought that stressing academic success is not good for children . This shows that what seemed
ordinary for Chua and Chinese mothers were strange and alien to Western mothers.
But does

Ted Talk Debate Summary
Summary Ted Talk and Debate
I watched two videos about Mexico s drug cartel this week, a Ted Talk and a debate on whether the
U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug War. The Ted talk focused on the business aspect of drug
cartels, which is something that I don t hear very often. The debate video was two teams debating to
sway the audience s opinion on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug Wars. While each
person had their own unique ideas, it seemed likely most or all of them agreed on one point, and that
was that the U.S. did share some of the responsibility for the drug war. In both videos, they discussed
the business side of the drug cartels. The bulk of this conversation happened in the Ted Talk, although
there were a few short discussions in the main debate that I listened to. ... Show more content on

While it should be logical that an organization with the reach and profits that a drug cartel has would
have to have great organization or distribution/production routes, it is not something that I have ever
heard talked about before. Most of the time when I think of drug gangs or cartels, I think of the
(somewhat fake or cheesy) henchmen you see in movies, or the small time, local gang members that
you hear about on the news. The highest person I had heard about was El Chapo, and even that was
focused more on his escape than his background or why he was in jail in the first place. I also did not
know that the U.S. has created such a huge demand for drugs, and I feel like that is something that is
not something that I would not have been able to stumble across, so to speak. It completely surprised
me that over 50% of the world s drug demand has come from the United

Analysis Of Schuman s Speech
The Schuman Declaration is the foundation of the European project that we live in today. In his
speech on 9 May, 1950, Robert Schuman proposed to pool France and Germany s Coal and Steel
production together for the greater purpose to create peace and safeguard Europe. For some it came as
a surprise because only five years passed since devastating World War II came to an end. Withal, it
gives room for interpretation and speculations. Therefore, this paper will analyse the real motivation
of Robert Schuman whether his intentions were primary to secure peace in Europe or whether, he had
something different and lower intentions in mind.

Innovative Marketing Practices of Selected Business Firms in the Indian Rural Market

KEY WORDS: Rural Marketing, Innovative Marketing Practices.
Abstract
The Indian rural market is much larger when compared to the urban market in terms of population and
number of households, and also by way of geographic dispersal. The rural market is the new driving
force of the Indian Consumption Story . With only 31.16% of the Indian population living in urban
areas and 68.84% residing in the villages (Census 2011), it is only a matter of time before rural India
takes its rightful place in the Indian growth story.
Introduction
There is growing realization among marketers about the enormous untapped potential of India s rural
markets. The Indian rural market with its vast size and demand base offers great opportunities to
companies. In India, there are 6,42000 villages . While agriculture used to be the major source of
income in rural areas, over the past 10 12 years, the dominance of agriculture has been rapidly
declining. The contribution of agriculture to India s GDP was less than 20% in 2008 09. There is a
sizeable population of self employed persons in the hinterland and quite a few of them are into
services such as repair and maintenance of motors and pump sets, televisions and other electrical

World War II WWII is considered the deadliest war in history, causing more than 50 million military
and civilian deaths. This war began when Germany decided to invade Poland sparking the help of
France and Great Britain. With more than 30 different participating countries, it was a conflict that
involved nearly every aspect of the globe. The main belligerents were divided into the Axis and Allies
powers. United States, Great Britain and France belonged in the Allies against Germany, Italy and
Japan of the Axis. Enormous technological advances were made during the war. The English

As the war progressed, these women developed a sense of independence and pride. When the war
ended many refused to give up their jobs, forcing governments to allow women to work and increase
the equality in pay. Because the World War II was mainly fought in Europe, both England and France
were devastated by the effects of the war. The European economy had collapsed with 70% of the
industrial infrastructure destroyed. However, the United States was spared the physical destruction of
the war and its economy dominated the world economy. In addition, it became the leading military
power. The Soviet Union also experienced a rapid increase in production in the immediate post war
era. The aftermath of the war was defined by the decline of old superpowers and the rise of two new
ones− the United States and the Soviet Union. Due to the differences of their government, they soon
became enemies on the global stage and engaged in what is now known as the Cold War. When the
European countries rapidly lost power, it increased the decolonization from the great superpowers,
including India, the Philippines, Indonesia as well as a few Arab nations. As another consequence of
the war, the Allied powers created the United Nations, a global organization for international
cooperation and diplomacy, with intent to avoid

According to Geary Schumacher (2012), emergence cannot be predicted. Therefore, we can only

unfolds. This transition is a change in environment and autonomy and as he interacts and self

emerge, but the overall speculation is that a positive pattern of behaviors will emerge based on his
fixed delusion of military discharge. This is based on many interactions and conversations with L.R.
while at 1NW and during his discharge. L.R. is experiencing many complex changes in the transition
from 1NW to Bridgeview. Prior to this transition, the emergence of the types of patterns of behaviors

The Great Depression And Dust Bowl
In the decades leading up to the 1920s, industry in America boomed. Not only were monopolies
created but mass production of many goods was the source of an economic boom. During the 1920s
the economic boom led to some of the best times in history. However, later in the decade, devastation
came in the form of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. These two factors left a sour taste in the
mouthes of Americans as they moved into the thirties. The drastic difference between the economic
high and low of the 1920s are due to a combination of the economic boom at the beginning of the
decade and the Great Depression at the end, with numerous factors in between these two bookend
events. During the best of the decade there was economic boom, ... Show more content on

impact of war on the home front left room for women to establish themselves in the work place and

Long-Range Shooting Ethical
Yes, i think companies like Gunwerks and TrackingPoint have an ethical obligation to discontinue
production and promotion of long range shooting systems that are used to take down game. First,i
think using long range shooting systems would broke the care ethics. In the past, hunter cannot
conquer the issue of calculating the pull of gravity on a bullet traveling farther nor mention the harder
to calculate effect of wind. We can keep a balance between human beings and animals. With the
development of the new system, Long range shooting system turn hunters into snipers by taking the
guesswork out of calculating the effects of gravity and wind on a bullet traveling as far as a mile. Of

Cyber Warfare Is Not Fully Understood
Cyber warfare is a relatively new concept to the imagination, but its novelty should not belie its
importance to be understood at all echelons of a command structure. It is an emerging reality, and its
relevance is proportionate to the continuous global expansion and convergence of digital networks.
The capabilities of cyber warfighting strategies and tactics are extensive, and a need for a common
language and understanding is necessary for cyber warfighting capabilities. Within any culture,
language is developed through a symbolic evolution, and military science has largely built its own
unique vocabulary and terminology to describe conventional and unconventional warfare. Whether
this language can be applied to cyber warfare is not fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The essence of Glad s essay is that descriptions of war are largely reflective of the culture and political
environment of their time. This applies just as easily to our modern era, when cyber warfare presents
an unknown frontier through which it must be described in intelligible terms.
Beyond the cultural context through which we understand warfare is the biological context. The
vocabulary of kinetic warfare derives from our five senses, similar to how classical physics started
with an exploration of objects and phenomena that were readily available to our senses. Our senses
initially limited how science was conducted. The smallest object that an unaided eye can see is about
0.1 mm in diameter (). The farthest a 6 feet tall standing human can see is about 3 miles because of the
curvature of the earth. Unlike other organisms, such as sharks, humans cannot sense electrical stimuli
and locate objects based off of changes in electric currents (). For the majority of humans, vision is the
primary sense for navigating the world. Other organisms, such as ants, rely on smell as their primary
sense for navigation (). Vision makes the world appear as having sharp boundaries, whereas
navigating the world via

The Food Industry Is Good At Selling Half Truths
Many people have had that moment where they have stared at themselves in the mirror and felt self
conscious about their appearance or felt that they needed to change something about themselves to
feel socially accepted. Physical appearance tends to influence many children, teenagers, and adults in
their eating habits. More than that people have to realize that obesity does not only impact their
physical appearance, but it is a health hazard. Between 1977 and 2000 Americans have doubled their
intake of sugar, which has led to a global epidemic of obesity. The food industry is good at selling half
truths since they are making America an obesogenic environment. The sugar industry and large food
companies are the prime culprits behind America s obesity and diabetes epidemic. According to
former President Bill Clinton, We ve got to change the way we produce and consume food. Instead,
we re leading the way on producing the world s deadliest diet and exporting it to other countries.
Healthy eating activist want the government to tax sugary sodas, mandate expanded nutrition labels
and restrict portion sizes (Kiener, Robert). To increase the amount of healthy people in this country,
we need to take small steps. Therefore, the government should start by regulating foods with high
sugar content. What is obesity? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, it states that the
definition of obesity is, A condition characterized by the excessive accumulation and storage of fat

The Sandwitch Factory
The Sandwich Factory
A) The short story The Sandwich Factory is written by Jason Kennedy and deals with a man s
experiences doing a low paid job at a sandwich factory. It tells the story of how the man needs to be
able to deal with a lot of things about himself and other people, to do the work and concentrate about
it. We get a very good insight into his situation, but it is very much marked by his personal thoughts
about it, and therefore it becomes more or less useless for us to relate to. It is very obvious that this
man doesn t like his job, and we even get the feeling that he doesn t like his life either.
To begin with the story takes place in the sandwich factory, where he works. He introduces us to some
of the people he works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The manager, however, seems to think that he knows how everybody thinks, as he believes that the
employees don t like to be shunted around. It is obvious that he hasn t tried it himself. The text gives
an insight into how the managers think, and it can therefore be connected with the narrator s thoughts
in the short story. Picture 2, a still from Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin is a very interesting picture
in this situation, as it represents society s thoughts about the huge mass productions that suddenly
overwhelmed the world. The film makes fun of the massive factory production that not only made a
lot of people unemployed, but also made the world go mad. It can relate to the short story because of
the way it uses irony to deal with a huge problem.
B) The statement: a figure of speech is an expression or comparison that relies not on its literal
meaning, but on its connotations and suggestions. is a very good way of describing figures of
speeches.
Dickens seems to be using it a lot, and the text is actually very much marked by figures of speeches.
As an example there is a comparison between the color of the town and the face of a savage: [...] it
was a town of unnatural red and black like the painted face of a savage. (ll. 2 3) and as another
example we have the comparison between the steam engine and an elephant: [...] the piston of the

qualified, she was being denied admission because her application was not competitive enough on first
review. A class action suit was filed against the University because she felt that she was discriminated
against valid racial and ethnic groups in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth
Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
University of Michigan argued that because their school took such an interest in the educational

Nordstrom vs. JCPenney
Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a Nordstrom.
Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large,
and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that
much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for
them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes
that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a
combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender,
race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich
(2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida
is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the
state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is
primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social
stratification in American society. In today s political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99%
and the 1%, but in reality that framing is overly simplistic. Those within America s middle class
occupy a different social stratification than those who occupy the lower

St. Augustine Free Will Analysis
It s Your Choice
St. Augustine answered a question, which was, why did God give freedom of the will to men since it
is by this that men sin? His answer was, basically maybe God did not really give us freewill for us to
sin, but something bigger, such as reward and punishment. We chose to do good or bad knowing that
rewards and punishments comes from either one. God did not give freewill, but this is something that
just had to come about for being a human being is what I grasp to understand from St. Augustine. I
agree with St. Augustine because even though we may have come from God, it is still a choice to do
good or bad. Evodius was saying what if God had not made it where we could chose to sin, what he
failed to understand is that we would still have to choose to do good, even if that is the only choice. In
this paper I will give supporting facts on how St. Augustine answered the question and understanding
on how I agree with what he said. In Introducing Philosophy St. Augustine said, I want to ask, as well:
do you know this clearly, or do you believe it willingly without really knowing it, because you ae
prompted by authority. (Page 436 Solomon). This quote I believe help me defend why St. Augustine
had a justified point, because Evodius exulting his right of freewill, when he was saying that freewill

seem a perfect world, which we know that God only a perfect world after we die and leave this world,

Moths Interpretation Essay
Nature is the most beautiful as well as the most dangerous thing. It offers a lot of threats as well as
wonders. The human is the humble creature who might only see the nature by its dark side. We are
living the inside world, and nature is outside. We think we are independent as we isolate ourselves.
Adam Zagajewski s Moths is a wonderful yet imagistic poem which captures a great sense of how
human observed and felt about nature: startle and tear away. It offers the readers a snapshot view of a
moment, an experience when our little worlds of safety met the unknown world outside. If one does
not prepare to deal with these things, he/ she will withdraw even more. The poem begins with a dark
scenery. The author and his group sit inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe the Zagajewski intended to put the same sentences at the beginning and the end of the poem.
This created a continuing effect. Throughout the poem, the moths were still watching them. While the
human is growing more and more inside, the moths are still watching them. The author stated in
August because during this time period is the moths season. We can see them everywhere. Whenever
there is a light, they will fly toward it, try to get in and burn themselves. In the poem, the moths were
flying toward the bright light from the window of the author. They are pursuing something else, not
just the empty light rays. It was an amazing poem because by a simple moment, the author could
develop something deep and majestic, which brings the readers to a totally new

War: Like Hell on Earth
Wilfred Owens, an English poet and soldier, is well known for his poems about war. Born in 1983,
Owens took the front line of the army by 1916. When asked why he decided to enlist Owens replied, I
came out in order to help these boys directly by leading them as well as an officer can; indirectly, by
watching their sufferings that I may speak of them as well as a pleader can ( Poet Wilfred Owen Killed
in Action ). He used his experiences in the army and on the battlefields to write descriptive and
powerful poems. One of Owen s most famous poems, Dulce et Decorum , was written sometime

Primary vs. Secondary Research Essay
Primary vs. Secondary Research When conducting research, when is it conducive to use primary
research over secondary research and vice versa? Both research techniques are viable and beneficial.
They each have purpose and can be used as a marketing research template when conducting research.
Both techniques are equipped with tools that can be used to guide a researcher through the research
process. If these tools are properly adhered to, the research process can be seamless and quite
effective. Moreover, market research can assist a researcher in making accurate decisions and improve
the chance of success. This paper will explain the difference among research tools used in primary and
secondary research. It will also depict the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surveys (segregated technique designed to test perceptions regarding a product or service) depict
quantitative data that will help in the developmental stage of a product or service. This tool is most
often used regarding sensitive data. It is relatively inexpensive. Observation is primarily used at the
point of sale of a product or service. This tool depicts emotional reactions to products or services.
Secondary Research Tools
Secondary marketing research is based on information previously gathered by an individual, the
government, and other agencies. Secondary sources are those sources of information that have been
collected previously by other individuals or organizations. Secondary sources of information can help
you to identify other sources of information, it can help you to get an overall picture of your market or
it may provide more detailed information on a specific segment of the market (Karen Paiyo). There
are also various research tools used when conducting secondary research. Secondary research can be
acquired from previous reports, public sources, newspapers, magazines, commercials, educational
sources, and websites. Secondary research is often easy to find and generally free. It is much more
inexpensive than primary research. An example of secondary research is a general manager, of a
professional baseball team, gathering a summation of statistical information (of a player whose
contract is expiring) from previous

Critiquing Research In Mental Health Nursing
This literature review has enhanced my knowledge on research articles, how to identify what is a
strong or weak study, how to research properly and also, it enhanced my critiquing skill. It is
identified that recruiting mental health nurses and mental health is one of the undesirable nursing field
of new graduates is a significant contemporary issue in nursing because of the ageing nursing working
and the increasing numbers of clients with mental illness (Harrison et al., 2014, pp.561 562).
Personally, I wanted to pursue a career in mental health but I always see or hear negative stereotypes
about mental health and mental illness. It widened my view about mental health nursing. Even though,
I try not to be affected by those stereotypes it is difficult when you are surrounded by those thoughts
of other people. I found that there are still people who choose mental health because of their own
interests on mental health after reading articles about undergraduate and graduate nurse who pursue a
career in mental health.
Also, while reading the articles I was exposed to positive aspects and professional challenges of
mental health nursing and not just the negative aspect of it. I found that clinical experience is a strong
factor on choosing a career in nursing. Clinical experience could either influence it positively or
negatively. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, I would participate in the planning of a recruitment strategy to encourage new graduates to
pursue a career and remain working in a mental health field. Instead of working on why undergraduate
nursing students does not choose mental health, the focus should be on how to promote mental health
nursing as a desirable option. This relates to the nursing competencies in domain two and four:
professional development and interprofessional healthcare and quality

Problems with the OJ Simpson Trial Essay example
On June 12, 1994, the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found dead at her
home in Brentwood, CA. Orenthal James Simpson, or O.J. Simpson was notified of their deaths and
immediately taken into custody for questions. Upon the collection of various pieces of evidence from
the crime scene, all avenues pointed to Simpson as the culprit for the double murder. The conclusion
of Simpson criminal trial resulted in his acquittal. There were various reasons for this acquittal. The
most prominent reasons include accusations of racism, evidence contamination, and the lack of faith
in DNA profiling. This paper will discuss the issues that arose with the trial in depth and offer an
explanation and solution to resolving issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an attempt to counter the racist claims of the defense, the jury was selected and was mostly African
American females (Gaines 2001). The district attorney of Los Angeles believed that an all white jury
would be ineffective if Simpson were to be found guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). This outcome of
the jury selection upset the Caucasian population because they felt as though the jury selection gave
Simpson the upper hand in the trial regardless of the fact that the jury was majority female. The
defense counsel was able to control the jury, in a sense through instilling in their minds that the LAPD
was in fact racist. At the trial s conclusion approximately 83% of blacks believed that Simpson was
guilty, whereas only 37% of whites believed that Simpson was guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). These
allegations also pushed the evidence collected from the crime to be discredited as well. The second
issue with the Simpson trial, is the collection of evidence from the crime scene. The crime scene must
be protected at all costs to ensure the integrity of the evidence that will be collected from the crime
scene (Schiro, n.d.). Evidence from a crime scene is arguably the most important aspect of solving a
crime and finding an individual to be guilty of a particular crime. Evidence collection techniques can
make or break a case. Poor evidence collection techniques can discredit the prosecution and glorify
the defense,

Analysis of Plato s Republic Essay
Philosophy is a Greek word meaning love of wisdom. Throughout Plato s Republic, wisdom plays an
important role. According to Plato, education is wisdom. In the passage, 518d, Plato discusses the true
meaning of education vicariously through Socrates. Some literary mechanisms can be found in the
passage and I will show how they fit in the text and how they contribute to the main themes of Plato s
Republic.
In Book VII Socrates has finished listening to other opinions and is now formulating a response. The
oration is an excerpt from an intellectual conversation between Socrates and Glaucon. The goal of the
dialogue is to reach a viable explanation of education. Simile is used in the passage when Socrates
compares the instrument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the allegory Socrates gives an account of a man that breaks free from his bonds and makes his way
out of the darkness into the outside world. His story represents a man s journey to enlightenment. To
reach enlightenment a man must use education to break the bonds of ignorance and direct his sight
towards true things that originate from the Form of Good. Man already has the capacity to see, he only
needs guidance. Guidance is the job of the philosopher kings. After these kings have reached
enlightenment it is their duty to travel back into the cave and educate some of the ignorant masses.
Socrates says that wherever sight is set is what will be seen with the most clarity. If a man doesn t
have his sight set on the right things, he can still be very clever but his sight is forced to serve evil
ends, so that the sharper it sees, the more evil it accomplishes. (519a).
Plato s Republic is a blueprint for his ideal society. In his republic education is something only
attainable to the philosopher kings. It is beneficial for the philosopher kings to be very well educated
so they will make good decisions while they are ruling the republic. The reason that no one else
should receive such an elaborate education (in Plato s opinion) is because the rest of the people in the
city only need to do what they are specialized in. This seems to be divergent from what Socrates
previously said, . ..the power to learn is present in everyone s

  • 2. Nutritive Sweeteners I stepped of the St. Louis version of the subway and found my way to the platform. Résumé, class schedule, and note taking paper in hand, I found my way up to a landing where I was greeted by a woman, who introduced herself as my research supervisor, Melisa Moore, who has become a close friend and mentor to me in education and research. Starting on the first day, I began to realize the joy of research. That joy of learning about the unknown and using that knowledge to help others has created a burning passion within me to pursue research, in both the present and future. That passion has driven me to continue in my role as a research assistant for the past two years and across multiple studies. The research in which I have been involved has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of this study is to attain more information regarding a phenomenon discovered recently in which obese individuals that do not normally consume non nutritive sweeteners, such as sucralose, exhibit both a metabolic and hormonal response to the consumption of these types of sweeteners. The study is intended to ascertain information pertaining to the generalizability of this phenomena (i.e., whether most or all individuals with limited exposure to non nutritive sweeteners exhibit this response) and the mechanism by which this phenomenon occurs. My role in the NNS study began by considering a list of potential participants and removing those who would not qualify. Thus, the data consolidation skills I had developed were extremely helpful over the next two months. After filtering potential participants, my supervisor asked that I perform phone screens of those that passed the initial filtration, a process that has continued. Both this study and the LID study are still in progress and are expected to reach completion in December and June, respectively. As a result, neither study has resulted in published results; however, both studies are in clinical trials and can be found on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Different Stages Of Cell Division 1) Cell division is typically explained through the progression of 4 distinct phases, G1, S, G2, and M, and can be tracked through CDK complex concentration ranges. CDKs are cyclin dependent kinases, which regulate the cell cycle of eukaryotic cells; as suggested by the name, protein kinases are an enzyme that is dependent on cyclin for the regulation of cell division through the addition of phosphate groups. The different stages of the cell cycle correlate with different levels of cyclin and act as a threshold that once reached, triggers a phase transition. For example, for a cell to move out of G2 phase into M phase, Cyclin B interacts with the CDK1 complex, and causes phosphorylation to stimulate the phase shift; however, if the stage is not complete, the whole process slows down to accommodate the discrepancy in CDK complexes (Nelson Education, figure 9.17, page 191). This can be caused by several things, such as the presence of damaged or deformed DNA, or externally through contact inhibition, where a delay in phase shift is caused by partial or incomplete contact of all cells. If there is only partial cell contact, contact inhibition will typically prevent progression past the G1 phase until there is complete cell contact, which can be reflected in variable levels of the CDK complex(Nelson Education, page 191). Overall, CDK regulates cell division through the combination of CDK and cyclin, the activation of protein via a phosphate group that triggers a phase change, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Huck Finn Analysis The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a sequel to the book Tom Sawyer written by Mark Twain, where the main character, Huck Finn, was first introduced. The book had actually taken a whole 7 years to write. Mark Twain could not think of how to continue the story after the part where Huck and Jim accidentally went too far past Cairo in the fog. Mark Twain has said that the character of Huck Finn is based upon a real life child that Twain once knew, a man named Tom Blankenship. This story is mainly about the growing and adventurous friendship between Huck and Jim. Huck, who is also the narrator, has his many very wild and adventurous traits. You could maybe say that he is a bit of a troublemaker, but also he is a very respectful and outgoing young man. Also, he has characteristics of the way he, himself views the world around him, which are very smart, sneaky, clever and unique ways. He doesn t have much of an education but is a very street smart kid, who even outsmarts mostly all of the adults he encounters. Throughout the book, a major symbol is expressed, which is Huck and Jim floating down the river together. The river symbolizes the freedom that they now have and the river gives the story a peaceful mindset, and that as long as they are out floating on the raft they will be free for the most part and free of any worries or stress. The freedom that the river casts upon Huck and Jim is very unique and significant to their adventures. Before they both escaped from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Should Smoking Be Banned In Public Places Would you purposely stub your toe on the coffee table or purposely hit your thumb with a hammer? Then why would you or anyone do an act that you know would hurt you or those around you? Why would a person smoke in a public place when they know it can cause them and their loved ones harm? This is one of many of the reasons why smoking should be banned in public places. Before we get into the argument of whether smoking should be allowed in public places or not, we first need to identify a few items: the concept of smoking, the reasons people smoke, the government s involvement, and an alternative solution. First, let us answer the question of what is smoking? Smoking refers to the inhalation and exhalation of fumes from burning of tobacco in cigars, cigarettes and pipes (Smoking). It was first used in the 1500s by the natives of the Western Hemisphere for religious rituals and medicinal purposes (Smoking). Next, we need to answer the question of what is considered a public place? According to US Leal, a public place is generally an indoor or outdoor area, whether privately or publicly owned, to which the public have access by right or by invitation, expressed or implied, whether by payment of money or not . Another question you may be asking yourself is why do people smoke? There could be a number of reasons why people choose to smoke, but the most common reasons include addiction, emotions, and routine (Reasons). With addiction, people become dependent on ... • 7. The Myth of Exodus Essay The Myth of Exodus There are many themes running through the Old Testament myth of Exodus slavery, rescue and redemption, guidance, commandments on how to live, the creation of a nation, and God s power over other gods. In this paper I will explore what appears to be the chief reasoning behind the creation of the Exodus myth the explanation of the creation of a monotheistic religion and the similarities of the Exodus myth to the ancient myths, as well as how one should approach the reading of the myth. First of all, we need to understand what a myth is. William Bascom says in his essay, The Forms of Folklore: Prose Narratives , Myths are prose narratives which, in the society in which they are told, are considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the heart of the matter, the creators of a myth are attempting to explain their world in a world absent of science and sophisticated tools of research. In approaching myth, the reader must enter into the world of the creators of the myth, instead of attempting to impose their own societal beliefs and expectations on it. In short, we need to read the myth in imitation of how the myth was originally received. In the myth of Exodus, a monotheistic system of worship was needed in order to create a unified nation with one god. Exodus attempts to provide an explanation for this movement away from the traditional polytheistic religion. Lauri Honko says in her essay, The Problem of Defining Myth , ...myths can be characterized as ontological: they are incorporated and integrated into a coherent view of the world, and they describe very important aspects of life and the universe (Dundes 51). Within the pages of Exodus we find the first code of laws the Ten Commandments for living as a monotheistic society. God begins the Ten Commandments with admonishment to keep Him above all other gods, I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:1 3). In this passage, God reminds Moses that God is supreme above all other gods and he reminds Moses of the miracle he has performed in bringing the people out of Egypt. The ... • 8. Reflection On Colors I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one fourth of my entire life. I believe that each of different colors can change someone s life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced. Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors impact on me. When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However, people don t know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often) I went to Canada this summer, and I traveled Banff and Vancouver. In Banff, ... • 9. The Type Of Parenting Associated With The Tiger Mother The type of parenting associated with the tiger mother has been a subject of intense controversy for a very long time. Even though the term itself only became part of our understanding in 2011 thanks to the very controversial book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, by Amy Chua, there were always questions of how much discipline is healthy and necessary for a child. In Chua s book, she contrasts the two sides of parenting styles: what she calls Chinese parenting and Western parenting. Chinese parenting refers to the strict and intense style of upbringing in which the parent has (or tries to exert) complete control over their child. The parent is wholeheartedly focused on honing their child s skills in school, music, maybe a sport, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western parents argue that children should be allowed to make mistakes and become better people by learning from those errors. Thus, they say that the tiger mother doesn t love their child because it s much harder to watch your child make mistakes in the hopes that they will learn from them than it is to simply reprimand them (and correct and intervene, even before mistakes are made or it s too late to be good at anything). When Chua s book came out, the media received it with horror. Chua was called a horrible monster , the worst mom in the world , and many other unflattering names.. Chua shocked much of America with her seemingly brutal parenting: many people were flabbergasted by the idea that a parent wouldn t let their child attend a sleepover, or make them practice 4 hours of violin a day, or threaten to burn their dolls if they didn t listen. The tiger mother had exploded onto the scene, and the onlookers were horrified by the carnage they saw behind her. How could a mother be so tyrannical and abusive? Some even called for Chua s arrest for child abuse. Ted Talk Debate Summary Summary Ted Talk and Debate I watched two videos about Mexico s drug cartel this week, a Ted Talk and a debate on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug War. The Ted talk focused on the business aspect of drug cartels, which is something that I don t hear very often. The debate video was two teams debating to sway the audience s opinion on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug Wars. While each person had their own unique ideas, it seemed likely most or all of them agreed on one point, and that was that the U.S. did share some of the responsibility for the drug war. In both videos, they discussed the business side of the drug cartels. The bulk of this conversation happened in the Ted Talk, although there were a few short discussions in the main debate that I listened to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The highest person I had heard about was El Chapo, and even that was focused more on his escape than his background or why he was in jail in the first place. I also did not know that the U.S. has created such a huge demand for drugs, and I feel like that is something that is not something that I would not have been able to stumble across, so to speak. Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large, and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender, race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich (2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social stratification in American society. We chose to do good or bad knowing that rewards and punishments comes from either one. God did not give freewill, but this is something that just had to come about for being a human being is what I grasp to understand from St. Augustine. • 32. Critiquing Research In Mental Health Nursing This literature review has enhanced my knowledge on research articles, how to identify what is a strong or weak study, how to research properly and also, it enhanced my critiquing skill. It is identified that recruiting mental health nurses and mental health is one of the undesirable nursing field of new graduates is a significant contemporary issue in nursing because of the ageing nursing working and the increasing numbers of clients with mental illness (Harrison et al., 2014, pp.561 562). Personally, I wanted to pursue a career in mental health but I always see or hear negative stereotypes about mental health and mental illness. It widened my view about mental health nursing. Even though, I try not to be affected by those stereotypes it is difficult when you are surrounded by those thoughts of other people. I found that there are still people who choose mental health because of their own interests on mental health after reading articles about undergraduate and graduate nurse who pursue a career in mental health. Also, while reading the articles I was exposed to positive aspects and professional challenges of mental health nursing and not just the negative aspect of it. I found that clinical experience is a strong factor on choosing a career in nursing. Clinical experience could either influence it positively or negatively. ... Instead of working on why undergraduate nursing students does not choose mental health, the focus should be on how to promote mental health nursing as a desirable option. This relates to the nursing competencies in domain two and four: professional development and interprofessional healthcare and quality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Problems with the OJ Simpson Trial Essay example On June 12, 1994, the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found dead at her home in Brentwood, CA. Orenthal James Simpson, or O.J. Simpson was notified of their deaths and immediately taken into custody for questions. Upon the collection of various pieces of evidence from the crime scene, all avenues pointed to Simpson as the culprit for the double murder. The conclusion of Simpson criminal trial resulted in his acquittal. There were various reasons for this acquittal. The most prominent reasons include accusations of racism, evidence contamination, and the lack of faith in DNA profiling. This paper will discuss the issues that arose with the trial in depth and offer an explanation and solution to resolving issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an attempt to counter the racist claims of the defense, the jury was selected and was mostly African American females (Gaines 2001). The district attorney of Los Angeles believed that an all white jury would be ineffective if Simpson were to be found guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). This outcome of the jury selection upset the Caucasian population because they felt as though the jury selection gave Simpson the upper hand in the trial regardless of the fact that the jury was majority female. The defense counsel was able to control the jury, in a sense through instilling in their minds that the LAPD was in fact racist. At the trial s conclusion approximately 83% of blacks believed that Simpson was guilty, whereas only 37% of whites believed that Simpson was guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). These allegations also pushed the evidence collected from the crime to be discredited as well. The second issue with the Simpson trial, is the collection of evidence from the crime scene. The crime scene must be protected at all costs to ensure the integrity of the evidence that will be collected from the crime scene (Schiro, n.d.). Evidence from a crime scene is arguably the most important aspect of solving a crime and finding an individual to be guilty of a particular crime. Evidence collection techniques can make or break a case. Poor evidence collection techniques can discredit the prosecution and glorify the defense, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Analysis of Plato s Republic Essay Philosophy is a Greek word meaning love of wisdom. Throughout Plato s Republic, wisdom plays an important role. According to Plato, education is wisdom. In the passage, 518d, Plato discusses the true meaning of education vicariously through Socrates. Some literary mechanisms can be found in the passage and I will show how they fit in the text and how they contribute to the main themes of Plato s Republic. In Book VII Socrates has finished listening to other opinions and is now formulating a response. The oration is an excerpt from an intellectual conversation between Socrates and Glaucon. The goal of the dialogue is to reach a viable explanation of education. Simile is used in the passage when Socrates compares the instrument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the allegory Socrates gives an account of a man that breaks free from his bonds and makes his way out of the darkness into the outside world. His story represents a man s journey to enlightenment. To reach enlightenment a man must use education to break the bonds of ignorance and direct his sight towards true things that originate from the Form of Good. Man already has the capacity to see, he only needs guidance. Guidance is the job of the philosopher kings. After these kings have reached enlightenment it is their duty to travel back into the cave and educate some of the ignorant masses. Socrates says that wherever sight is set is what will be seen with the most clarity. If a man doesn t have his sight set on the right things, he can still be very clever but his sight is forced to serve evil ends, so that the sharper it sees, the more evil it accomplishes. (519a). Plato s Republic is a blueprint for his ideal society. In his republic education is something only attainable to the philosopher kings. It is beneficial for the philosopher kings to be very well educated so they will make good decisions while they are ruling the republic. The reason that no one else should receive such an elaborate education (in Plato s opinion) is because the rest of the people in the city only need to do what they are specialized in. This seems to be divergent from what Socrates previously said, . ..the power to learn is present in everyone s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
