Entrepreneurship as a career by Erhan Erkut @startupistanbul2015Startup Istanbul
Erhan Erkut, a professor at MEF University, gave a presentation on entrepreneurship as a career path. He began by making two predictions: that most people in the audience will live to age 90, and will need to work for 50 years. He suggested considering entrepreneurship as a career option, since working for a single company for 50 years may not be sustainable or fulfilling. He provided suggestions for those interested in entrepreneurship, like reading books on the topic, following startups, offering help to startups, and eventually starting your own company after gaining experience elsewhere. The presentation included statistics on common educational backgrounds of Turkish entrepreneurs and discussed support programs for startups.
From vitamin to painkiller story of in dinero - by Andrea Barrica @startupist...Startup Istanbul
This document discusses lessons learned from bootstrapping a startup after an initial $1 million failed to generate profit. It describes firing all employees and customers to refocus on the core problem, which led to finding that providing excellent customer service and referrals generated $1 million in annual recurring revenue within 10 months. Metrics like total users and transactions processed were less important than paying customers, monthly revenue, and retention rates. The lesson is to focus first on the pain point and problem before worrying about scale, as profitability can be achieved with a smaller customer base by solving real needs. Diversity within teams is also highlighted as important for greater success.

SAP Platform & S/4 HANA - Support for InnovationBernhard Luecke
Platform Support enabling IT to increase speed of innovation (= time to value) is a challenge - a challenge that can be mastered and has to be mastered.
Key Elements are:
* Control Center Concept including Innovation Control Center, Operations Control Center and Mission Control Center
* Support w/o Incidents - as an incident means a risk to progress as planned
* Embedded Support for Innovation, based on Business Value
For the SAP Platform in general, and S/4 HANA specifically, Standard Support, more Enterprise Support and even more Premium Engagement (SAP Active Embedded, SAP MaxAttention) provide services that contribute to the customer innovation from ideation & design, over roadmap and detailed planning, execution and GoLive until optimization and value realization of the business solution.
The SAP Startup Focus is a 12-month accelerator program that provides startups with resources to develop solutions on SAP HANA. Startups accepted to the program gain access to the HANA platform, technical experts, SAP's customer network, and opportunities to pitch to investors. The program aims to drive adoption of HANA and does not take equity from participating startups. Over 200 startups from 22 countries have joined so far, with 60% of solutions being sold to SAP customers. Interested startups can qualify by attending an event and signing a program agreement to develop a proof of concept and deliver a commercial HANA solution.
The session aimed to introduce the concept of extending the different SAP Cloud solutions using SAP HANA Cloud Platform (#saphcp) applications. We went through the basics and as well explored different extensions examples for each of the mentioned solutions.
