Cade Englefield conducted research on how to improve boys' achievement in writing. Research showed that engagement and enjoyment are key, and that boys prefer writing about interesting topics. At Lincoln Primary School, blogging was introduced and increased boys' writing output. To raise teacher awareness, Cade reviewed research with teachers, analyzed student data and surveys, and facilitated the development of teaching plans focused on writing. As a result, teachers refined their practices and boys had more opportunities to succeed in writing.
