 Sometimes known as the “Father of Herbal Encapsulation,” Kenneth Brailsford
cofounded Nature’s Sunshine in the 1970s. Prior to beginning his career in the
herbal supplement field, Kenneth Brailsford completed a bachelor of science in
economics at Brigham Young University (BYU), which recently announced
researchers at the university collaborated on the discovery of the universe’s
hottest known planet.
BYU physics and astronomy research professors Michael Jones and Denise
Stephens serve as project architects on the Kilodegree Extremely Little
Telescope (KELT) survey, a project of The Ohio State University and Vanderbilt
University that involves over 20 institutions. Together, these institutions have
discovered 19 exoplanets, the latest of which is KELT-9b, which has a dayside
temperature close to 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Published in the journal Nature, the discovery follows February’s discovery of
KELT-16b, a planet that is 1.5 times the size of Jupiter and has a temperature of
4,000 degrees. Researchers hope that these discoveries will further the body of
knowledge of other atmospheres as well as that of the earth.
