The BYOD/BYOT implementation plan outlines how devices will be used in a 1st grade reading classroom. Students will use either their own Apple or Chrome/Google devices, or an iPad provided by the school. The devices will be used daily for individual, partner, small group, and whole class activities related to reading instruction and content. Students will be expected to download and practice using specified reading and review apps like Kahoot, Starfall, and Reading Eggs.

2. The best platforms for the students in my classroom to use could be Apple and Chrome/Google.
The school and county are Apple based, meaning the county has a contract with apple to get
devices. Apple has a variety of apps and programs that can be used in a classroom. Google is
widely used and provides so many applications that are assets to a classroom. Both of these
platforms allow students and teachers to collaborate, communicate, and promote feedback. This
platform will also encourage and increase parent teacher communication.
3. Students who do not have their own device will be provided with a school Ipad that will be
assigned and checked out to them. The school offers insurance to students who use school devices
so that students will be covered if anything happens to the device. Since the Ipad will be assigned
to a specific student, students will be able to work on projects and assignments just like the
students who bring their own device.
4. The devices will be used in the classroom everyday and in a variety of different ways. Students
will use the devices individually, with partners, in small groups, and in whole group. Grouping on
the device will be specific to the activity and task students are assigned to do. Individual use on the
device will be for personalized learning, such as enrichment and remediation. Partners and small
groups will be used to practice skills, research new topics, explore virtual labs and field trips, and
to review basic knowledge. Whole group activities will include review games, such as Kahoot, and
surveys to check for student understanding.
5. Below is a list of Apps that students will use in class regularly. These apps are age appropriate and
related to the content they will be learning in class. Please have students download these apps and
practice navigating through the app so that they are ready for the various activities.
