SUBJECT: Officials/Referees Needed
As a resident of the community of Lansing, Michigan I’ve noticed a major decline in
youth sports for children throughout the area. Which we need to have more community
events for families and getting more of the youth involved with hobbies they enjoy. So, I
decided to put together a wonderful basketball tournament for grades 5th
-8th
.
Background and Purpose
The state of Michigan has been facing a decreasing rate of officials for high school,
middle school, and even youth leagues sporting events according to statistics reported in
2018. Being an active community leader in the area over the past four years I have seen a
big growth in your company on trying to increase these low numbers of officials/referees
throughout the Mid-Michigan area. The fact your company has shown a high level of
professionalism with other youth sport leagues in the Michigan area from football,
basketball, floor hockey, baseball, and soccer we would be interested in working with
you. Which I think your company would be a perfect fit for this upcoming basketball
event. It’ll be a great event for families and giving kids that love the game of basketball a
competitive event to enjoy for the summer. For this event we would like to use your
company services to proceed with our tournament because the plan is to be organized and
conducted at a professional level. Your company could increase more employees or
possibly gain new business partners from other individuals that may be interested in your
services while attending this event.
Proposed Plan of Action
Hoop For Kids is looking to work with the best and is willing to pay the upfront flat cost
of your service. Also, I’ll be open to let your company setup any kind of station for any
sort of promotion you plan to pursue during the event, if needed. This could be helpful by
increasing those decreasing rates of working officials in the Mid-Michigan area or
expanding your company. With the help of your organization this could increase more
sporting events for the community, which the community would like to see more of.
Lastly, the vision that I have for this tournament is amazing that I guarantee every year
your company would see more gain of profits then previous years of using your services
at our previous events.
Schedule
This section is the following deadlines of each specific task needed to be taken before the
scheduled event on both companies be half.
Contract agreement deadline May 20, 2021
Officials participating (Full Names) June 20, 2021
2. Event meeting for staff *Mandatory* June 29, 2021
Day of the event July 4, 2021
Rain date (Only if event is cancelled July 4th
) July 17, 2021
Staffing
I have also on my end built a helpful organized staff to work with this event to make a lot
of things run as expected at a high professional level. Aaron Buck would be my
assistance of this event, which is known for coaching basketball for a church in the
community for the past four years. Carl Baldwin, a graduate from Full Sail University
received his bachelors in Audio Production would be a League Organizer helping
assisting athletes and trophy presentations. Dominique Jackson owner of the semi-pro
football team Lansing Crusaders, Christopher Blackman football coordinator at Eastern
High School, Kyler White former commentator for high school sports in the Lansing
area, and Jermaine Parker who worked for the Michigan State Spartan as an athlete’s
trainer will all be scoreboard keepers.
Budget
Since I am not looking for any type of investment from your company and all of my staff
would be assisting in this event as volunteers. We’d like for you to give us an estimated
price of what the cost of your service would be. Here a few helpful details about this
tournament to help you with the estimate of this cost. This event would be 4-6 hours long
depending on player injuries, timeouts, tie games, etc... Also, we would need at least 6
officials/referees to be in attendance as well.
Authorization
I believe this would be a great start on re-building our youth sporting events in the
community, which we would like a decision made by April 1, 2021 and you can reach me
by email adortiz@student.full.edu or phone (517) 582-6535.
