The document summarizes the activities of Ministers of God Missions, a ministry that trains chaplains to serve law enforcement and incarcerated individuals. It discusses the work of chaplains John and Shirley Mitten at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office and their efforts to establish The Restoration Center of Florida, a nine-month residential program for female inmates being released from incarceration. It provides details on the purchase of property for the center in May 2015 and their efforts to raise $400,000 to complete the purchase and renovate the buildings by November 2015.

We are currently at 20% or our monthly support to sustain this ministry.
Much has happened since our last newsletter. I will attempt to summarize the events of the different facets of MOGM.
Duties at Hernando County Sheriff’s Office
Corrections Chaplain, Shirley Mitten:
In April she counseled with 20 female inmates, gave out 20 Bibles, led one to Christ.
So far in May she has counseled with 17 inmates and given out 6 Bibles
Law enforcement Chaplain, John Mitten:
For April and May to date 35 hrs including in office counseling and 5 ride-alongs.
Ministers of God Missions administration:
Coordinating and preparing for the 40hr chaplain training class to be held July 13-17th
Arranging for a speaker, coordinating and publicizing Law Enforcement Day, Oct 4th
Assisting graduates to be accepted by Law Enforcement agencies throughout the state.
Pursuing the establishment of The Restoration Center of Florida, Inc. (TRC), a center to house
female inmates directly released from incarceration into a 9 month restoration program.
The Restoration Center timeline to date:
Early in March, God began to burden me to establish a safe house and training program for women being
released from incarceration.
March 16th we found a 21 acre, closed youth camp with buildings and infrastructure to meet our needs for
only $250,000 (down from $800,000 as the original price).
April 23rd a contract offer was given on the property from someone who wanted to make an RV park.
April 24th we were contacted by the owners who preferred our use of the land and would hold off signing
the other contract until Monday April 27th to give us time to raise $10,000 for earnest money.
April 26th counting after the evening service and combined with other donations, we raised $10,200.
April 27th we verbally agreed to sign the contract while awaiting their treasurer to return from out of town.
May 4th Initial meeting with Planning and Zoning
May 5th the contract was signed.
May 5th The Restoration Center of Florida, Inc. was established as a corporation with the State of Florida ,
and an EIN number received from the Federal Government.
May 8th Domain name registered.
May 15th A bank account was set up for TRC
May 19th A web site was put up therestorationcenterfl.com with a DONATE on line icon.
In summary, soon Shirley and I will be 71 and we look forward to retirement. LOL! Please keep us in your prayers for health
and wisdom. We need to raise $250,000 before closing on Nov. 5, and $150,000 more to remodel and repair for occupancy.
Beyond that we will need money to sustain this ministry once it is up and running. We estimate we will need 1000 donors at
$25per month to keep it running. Any church with a jail or prison ministry, family or friends of incarcerated women, and
Christians with a good Samaritan compassion for people who need help, should see the virtue and promise of this ministry.
Many churches will spend $25 per month on pizza for their youth group. Nothing wrong with this short term investment.
However, the same $25 invested in this home missions’ effort, could last for a lifetime for some sister in Christ.
On the back of this newsletter you will find more information concerning this property and donation information. All
donations designated for The Restoration Center will be kept separately from all other donations and used strictly for this
purpose. Should Planning and Zoning refuse us in this endeavor, all monies invested will be returned.
May God fill you with the knowledge of His love and wisdom,
Chaplains John and Shirley

Problem: 60% of women released from incarceration are re-arrested, with a third returned to confinement.
(American Jail Association)
Solution: Provide critical education and support for unmet “survival needs” upon being released from
incarceration, including a safe, secure place to live, technical compliance with probation, etc.
Problem: Children of female offenders are five times more likely to become involved in the criminal justice
system. (Petersilia, 2003)
Solution: Break the generational cycle of destructive behavior within the family structure by teaching Biblical
parenting skills and healthy relationship behaviors.
The Restoration Center is a Christian based non-profit organization dedicated to providing support for woman
previously incarcerated. Our goal is to provide participants with temporary living accommodations, along with
spiritual and behavioral training. Participants will also learn how to deal with sexual abuse, anger, parenting skills,
addictions, career training, and more. The women will receive nine months of life skills instruction including
educational and vocational guidance, with an emphasis on instilling Biblical principles while at the Center.
A contract on a 21 acre property in Hernando County, Florida, was signed on May 5, 2015.
Closing on the proposed property will occur November 5
th
, provided $250,000 is raised by that time. An additional
$150,000 is needed for renovation and living facility upgrades, bringing the total fund-raising need to $400,000.
To meet this deadline, an ongoing community effort to solicit funding is being activated through churches throughout
the state of Florida and other non-profit organizations, civic groups, and the business community. Through your
support, at-risk women who need a second chance and a new beginning will have the resources of housing, clothing,
food, and education for a new lease on life after release from incarceration.
501.c.3 application is pending Planning and Zoning approval scheduled for mid-summer, 2015. Until then,
Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hernando County has agreed to hold all tax-deductible donations in escrow.
