What is ethics?
  • The discipline dealing with what is good
    and bad and with moral duty and
    obligation.
  • A system of moral principals.

What is business ethics?
  • The principals and standards that
    determine acceptable conduct in
    business organizations.
  • Is a form of professional ethics that
    examines ethical principles and moral or
    ethical problems that arise in a business
    environment.
The Ethics of the business are
influenced by following factors:

 • Expectations of Society

 • Employees

 • Government expectations of the
   society from the business to follow
   board guidelines, which is in the interest
   of the society

 • The situation and the experience that
   the managers face also helps to
   determine the ethics of business ethics
The Ethical areas of managerial
ethics are defined are:

 • Relationship of the firm to the
   employee

 • Relationship of employee to the firm

 • Relationship of the firm to other
   economic agents helps the employees
   in developing the business

• Most of the times the Managers are also not in a
  position to identify what are ethical acts & what
  are unethical acts

• Ethics in business are usually complex.

• To provide a guide to the Managers, it is better to
  have some written code of ethics, as written code
  gives direction to the managers to take decision
  within the frame work

• The written code should be followed strictly by all
  the managers.

• The employees should be trained in the business
  ethics of the firm.

• The encouragement of the employees to follow
  the business ethics of the firm can also be through
  giving incentives and rewards to the employees.
