The National Organization for Women and the Struggle for...
This project will be over the National Organization for Women and the struggle for the Equal
Rights Amendment. This topic will be a great way to learn about the background of how women
fought for their rights, and how they gained them. This will be a great way to find out how the
gender women established their equal rights. Women s rights are really important in today s
society, so this will be a great way to learn a little more about how women came upon equal rights.
Women s rights didn t just appear one day, they had to fight for what they thought was right. The
first step of it all was the 19th amendment, this amendment allowed women to vote at the age of 18.
After the 19th amendment women started to gain more freedom all because of... Show more content

Then out of nowhere A highly organized, determined opposition that suggested that ratification
of the ERA would lead to the complete unraveling of traditional American society. The women
that wanted to stop the ERA was a career woman named Phyllis Schlafly. Her opening to her
speaking engagements began with quotes such as I d like to thank my husband for letting me
be here tonight. The Stop ERA started to tell people the things that would be taken away if the
ERA was passed and approved by the Congress. Now that the Stop ERA put things in other
people s heads they started to worry about more things. They were starting to be scared of losing
the freedom that people already did have. There were some things that might have been took away
once women got the same freedom as men. Things such as sexual assault and alimony would be
swept away. Also they were scared that the tendency for the mother to receive child custody in a
divorce case would be eliminated. Another thing people were scared of was the all male military
draft would become immediately unconstitutional. Women started to divided by other women. At
this point there were more and more states that were going against the amendment. The stop ERA
got what they wanted because once they passed the ERA the vote was three states off from being
approved. Therefore this meant that it wouldn t be confirmed right away like the people that
supported the ERA wanted it to. The Equal Rights Amendmentwas

Essay On Tiger Beer
1)The history of Tiger Beer started in Singapore in 1930. An incidental meeting between
Singapore carbonated beverages giants, Fraser and Neave and Dutch brewer, Heineken, achieved
the development of Malayan Breweries. In October 1932, Singapore s first lager, Tiger Beer, was
presented.
Malayan Breweries had its name changed to Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) in year 1990 in order
to better mirror the developing regionalization of its business intrigues. Today, APB s portfolio
includes more than 40 lager brands and variations and it is backed by 28 breweries in Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and
India.
Regardless of its humble beginnings, Tiger Beer has made numerous advances ... Show more

Television is a platform that is highly influential as it reaches out to the mass and allows Tiger
Beer to do profile targeting by selecting the specific time slots to run their commercials when most
of their targeted audience are viewing. Television as an advertisingtool has strong visual
representation. According to statistics, 57% of consumers say that product videos make them
more confident in a purchase and less likely to return an item, up from 52% a year ago.
(MediaPost, 2013) In commemoration of Singapore s 50th birthday (SG50), Tiger Beer s latest
campaign did by advertising agency BBDO Singapore has released the first Tiger Beer can from
1965 which was the same year Singapore gained independence.
Tiger Beer pulled off a publicity stunt using Singapore s local famous delicacy chicken rice to
gain brand awareness in a humorous and captivating way. Many viewers are sparked with
interest in the origins of chicken rice. Advertising agency BBDO Singapore used this occasion to
associate Singapore and Tiger Beer together as a home brand. As this campaign is based in
Singapore, Tiger Beer wants to give local customers and consumers a sense of belonging.
Singaporeans who are patriotic are more inclined to purchase this limited edition beer can for

Research On Youth Development Programs Essay
Research plays a vital role in all youth development programs. As the PowerPoint notes, we have
applied methods derived from research through several modules in this class. Even without realizing
it we put several research methods in practice while working with youth. Ongoing research is
important for us as youthdevelopment workers to expand our knowledge on positive youth
development to reflect the 4 H motto: to make the best better. In 4 H, we train all of our club
leaders, project leaders and volunteers on the Ages and Stages research. We train them on this
particular research method to help them better understand the youth they will be engaging with.
Evidence based research such as Ages and Stages helps youth and adults to gain the most from
any learning environment. I love learning about different research methods or theories. I took a
research class for my Bachelor s degree. I was the only one in the class that enjoyed it. My
interest in research serves a positive influence in my career now. For any programming I offer I
give a short evaluation. This helps me learn what could be better for the next time. The
evaluations provide feedback for me to help my audience. Perhaps the most influential research
we use in 4 H in through Richard Learner and his many studies applied directly to 4 H. His
research has provided policies protecting at risk youth by providing staggering and impressive
statistics. With his studies on 4 H, the program now has

The American Song Star-Spangled Banner
As a music lover since a young age, the incentives as to why artists created music have always
been intriguing to me. The time period and events that took place play a major part in the creative
process of music. This essay will consist of information from the early 18th century to the late 20th
century. It is known that culture reflects the happenings within a society. Culture is what helps
shine light on social situations which lets one know how to react or understand that society s
cultural norms. Music reflects the culture of a society. It gives insight of history, values, norms,
emotions, and the mentality of a society. Therefore, broad inquiries may arise such as: What was

The Fight For Clean Air
The Fight for Clean Air in Texas Public health often involves out of multiple disciplines but at its
core, resides in the general interest of the health of populations. How healthy a population is, often
depends on their overall environment. Poor air quality can cause undesirable health issues among
individuals in sensitive portions of the population who are asthmatic, have lung disease, or even
cardiovascular conditions. Especially in areas where communities are affected by the outcomes of
policies that directly impact the health of individuals, their safety, and other things. These issues
often stem from very similar risk factors on multiple levels regarding the individual, inter
intrapersonal, community, institutional and policy regulations. In Houston, Texas one of the
current issues is air pollution. Several populations are at risk of suffering from an increase in
respiratory diseases. The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) brought attention to the issue earlier
this year with a four part series of articles. They highlighted an increase in ozonelevels across the
city during 2015. It is suggested that this could possibly cause Houston to exceed EPA regulations.
Houston and other surrounding areas in Texas need to commit to changes that can lower ozone
average levels in 2016. People living in these communities are at particular risk of serious health
effects due ground level ozone and smog. There is a wealth of scientific evidence on the
development of asthma,

The Importance Of Tourism In Hong Kong
Hong Kong has been commonly constructed as and known to both tourists as a thoroughly
metropolitan city, of which its modern architecture, especially with its densely populated skyline
around the Victoria Harbour, and boisterous and fast paced lifestyle involving non stop eating and
shopping take centre stage as a few of Hong Kongs many selling points (Choi, Chan Wu, p 364).
Much of Hong Kong s status as an economic success could be attributed to its harbour. After Hong
Kong was ceded to the British after the First Opium war with the Chinese Qing dynastyin 1842, the
island, which was previously a sleepy collection of fishing villages (Choi, 2007, p.8), became one
of Britain s most important trading ports for spices and tea from China (p. 9). The development of
Hong Kong under British colonial rule has undoubtedly influenced the character of Hong Kong as a
tourist destination, with many of its promoted sites, such as the tramways on Hong Kong Island, the
Peak tram up Victoria Peak, and the Star Ferry all being historical modes of public transportation
still operating today. This tour will focus on the Star Ferry, exploring its symbolic importance to
Hong Kong identity and how past and contemporary events that have occurred in the physical area
of the Star Ferry Pier where the ferry operates from have been discursively co opted into, and
representative of a greater contestation of hegemonic ideologies surrounding Hong Kong s identity,

The Harp created by August Savage (a native of Green Cove Springs, Florida) in 1939 for the New

influenced by James Weldon Johnson s song, Lift Ev ry Voice and Sing.
The personified instrument, using twelve African American youth singers in various heights
symbolized the strings of the harp. The hand of God formed the sounding board, and the foot
pedal was represented by a kneeling man holding music. The sculpture was celebrated as one of
Savage s major works; however, with a lack of finances to cast it into bronze, the sculpture was

numerous photographs and souvenir reproductions. I was really impressed with the sculpture and

Sandra Cisneros Short Story Eleven
A well planned theme and a compelling adventure is enough of any reader to become drawn into
an author s writing. The short story Eleven, by Sandra Cisneros is narrated through a young eleven
year old girl, Rachel, whose emotions and actions clash with her inexperienced age. She talks about
how sometimes, people act younger, but never actually act older, in a sense, and how only if people
reach an age, or time period in their life, do they fully understand what their emotions and actions
mean. Literary elements, like characterization, symbolism, diction, and imagery, are expressed
through Cisneros writing style and her narration, so the reader can fully understand the position of
the main characterand her struggles. Cisneros makes it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many words that Cisnero uses are very childish and the descriptions seem to be from a child s
perspective. Some examples are, when I put one arm through one sleeve of the sweater that
smells like cottage cheese, ... all itchy and full of germs that aren t mine (Cisneros 2). This is
very childish because many children dislike the pungent smell of cottage cheese and also germs
and cooties are mainly a child thing. This all goes back to how age correlates with emotions and
actions, Rachel would have never thought of these descriptions if she was not as juvenile. Also
being a childish example, Rachel uses the example, I want today to be far away already, far
away like a runaway balloon, like a tiny o in the sky (Cisneros 2). Other than having good
diction, this phrases also represents imagery. All readers and relate to moments like this, when
someone lets go of a helium balloon and it just goes up and up until it becomes practically
invisible. Going back to the theme, emotions and actions change based on age, Rachel uses this
example rather than others because the balloon example represents her maturity and her age. If she
might have been older, she might have come up with an example, such as an airplane she is on by
herself, flying away and not coming back anytime

Popcorn History
A history of popcorn
When it comes to popcorn, more often than not it s the sound that hits you first with its pop, pop,
popping . It starts off nice and slowly before heading full steam ahead into a firestorm of kernels as
they almost magically transform into clouds of crunchy white goodness. The next thing you ll no
doubt notice is the incredible smell that wafts through the room and eventually the entire house,
slowly pulling you in as it teases your nose. You ll feel weak as the popcorntantalises your taste
buds. By the time your teeth crunch down on the first bite, you re totally and utterly hooked.

His recipe included the use of a grill, a half pint glass of popcorn and a frying pan that had been
rubbed with lard or butter. He advised holding the pan over the fire whilst constantly stirring or
shaking the corn and within a few minutes, the popcorn should have turned inside out to reveal
the delicious white, fluffy centre. He also mentioned the addition of salt or sugar whilst it was
still hot for added flavour. The issue with this particular method however seemed to be with the
lard or butter. The butter would usually begin to burn before the pan reached a hot enough
temperature and the lard would create popcorn that was covered in slime like grease. It wasn t
until the latter portion of the 19th century that a more efficient way of popping popcorn was
discovered. What were deemed to be poppers were actually boxes made of tight wire gauze and
had long handles attached. They were designed to be held over an open flame. The design of
poppers offered a number of benefits including the containment of popped kernels whilst also
keeping any hands away from the heat source. Over the years, the popper became hugely popular
and as a result a number of improvements were made to make it bigger and better than ever. Due to
the improvements, popcorn became even more accessible to the masses of people wanting to get

Myths Surrounding Joseph Stalin
Myths, surrounding Stalin have played a major role in the construction of Stalin s reputation, in
both a positive and negative way. This essay will look at Plate 1.5.8 in the illustration book, and
discuss how the myth of Stalin presented in this image differs from earlier and later mythic
presentations of him.
Joseph Stalin used his intellect, and power, to outmanoeuvre his rivals to become leader of the
Soviet Union. Using carefully planned propaganda including, painting, statues, and a series of
cultivated posters Stalin immortalised and glorified his leadership. These state manufactured
images created a cult of personality around him, subsequently, creating an image of a heroic
worshipped figure, who was associated with every aspect of soviet society. Stalin controlled the
media and according to the historian Moshe Lewin, Stalin single handily, become the system,
(Lewin in Pittaway, 2008, p.137.)
The image of Stalin depicted in the poster 1.5.8 () , portrays Stalin as God like, we see a figure,
being looked upon by dancing children who are dressed in uniforms, looking up to Stalin as a
strong father like defender of the nation. (Pittaway, 2008p.142.) This father title gave the impression
that Stalin is trustworthy and caring. In addition, children presented a myth and used as propaganda
to represent goodness, innocence, and the future. Stalin s ideology was that if the children liked
him, then he must be a good leader. Furthermore, the inscription shows

Nietzsche s View Of Dionysus
In a letter to a nun, Bernard of Clairvaux admonishes, Until now, when living according to your
will and not the will of God, by your law and not that of God, you were living while dead, living
in the world but dead to God; or, if I can speak more truly, living neither in the world or for God
(qtd. in Newman 177). The sentiments that living on one s terms and not God s is and was
common within Christianity. In fact, multiple documents written in the medieval era point to the
tenet that people must live submit their will to God to achieve salvation and to be accepted in the
Christian community. Part of submitting to his doctrine involves inhibiting visceral and brutish

Dionysus, representing the oneness of existence, is experienced as an individuated image
appearing to dazed spectators a relationship that is the germ of Greek tragic theater as a mimesis of
human life (505). If this concept were to exist in Lybeaus Desconus, the townspeople would
experience a sense of awe for both women displayed during the exhibition. They might compare in
positive terms the difference between and preferences they might see. In addition, the hero who is
on display (in this case, Lybeaus Desconus) would provide a sense of unity between the Dionysian
and the Apollonian. Instead of the Apollonian figure emerging from the primordial oneness of
existence where opposites would coexist, Lybeaus Desconus systematically slaughters the creatures
that represent wildness and restricts notions of beauty. The foreground of Nietzsche s criticisms of
Christianity comprises repudiating not only ecstasy but also suffering, manifested through
suppressing bodily impulses and instinctive drives and focusing on an afterlife rather than the
current moment. In general, it is likely Nietzsche would react more positively to the Christian ideals
embedded in many medieval texts than he does in the early 20th century. Ben Morgan reveals

The Causes Of The Crusades
In case you didn t know the Crusades are a series of battles fought around 1096 to 1291. Now
you may be thinking why were the Crusades fought. Well, the Crusades were fought for control
of the Holy Land. They were a series of religious and political wars to gain control of Jerusalem,
which was important to Christians, Jews and Muslims. It was important to Jewish people as it was
the site of the of the original temple to God built by King Solomon. (http://www.ducksters.com

heaven and it was where Christ was crucified and rose again so was an important place also for
Christians.
In June 1098, Jerusalem fell. Why? Well there were lots of struggles in Antioch because of the
combined forces of the Byzantine and the Crusaders. They continued to walk to Jerusalem. The
Byzantines and the Crusaders were also joined by the Egyptian Fatimids. In 1099 the governor of
the Jerusalem had to bow down and leave his position as Governor. The Crusaders slaughtered
many men and women in the fall of Jerusalem.

Heroism In 1984
When someone says protagonist, what does one usually think of? Generally, the words good
guy and hero come to mind first, but are those words used correctly? Is the protagonist really a
hero? In George Orwell s 1984 and Philip k. Dick s Minority Report, two different protagonists
who commit hero like acts are shown. These acts on outside seem like they are benefiting the
greater good, when in reality they help almost no one. The side effects of their actions are avoided
to make the protagonists seem more worthy and stronger in the readers eyes, but it does nutmeat
that they do not still exist. At a glance, 1984 is a dystopian about a man named Winston, the

unknowingly gives O Brien more power through the crimes he commits. Winston commits all
sorts of thoughtcrime throughout the book but it is not until the last part where he realizes that
O Brien, someone who he thought was going to help take Big Brother down, works for The
Party. In part three O Brien says, And there are disease, pain, death O Brien silenced him by a
movement of the hand. (Orwell 277). This quote tells readers the extent of O Brien s power,
specifically over Winston. It shows how his hidden figure type persona has evolved into
someone who is not afraid to show who he really is and is willing to evict pain on to other
people. All this is due to Winston rebellious acts against Big Brother. All throughout the story. he
breaks many of Big Brother s rules, reason why O Brien catches Winston in the first place and
has all the power he does right now. In chapter nine Kaplan says, This is a great occasion for the

minority report aspect is a false way of determining if someone is guilty. He wants the army to be
back in control, specifically his team of sergeants that retired a while back. Anderton trying to run
away from the fate that the system writes for him is the reason why Kaplan gains so much power in
the first place. The protagonists actions affect the antagonists, in the better. In addition to affecting

characteristic refers to the positon that the individual achieved through a lot of challenging work,

generation depends on the relationship that you have with one another. Most of the time family

Auto Industry in Canada
To fully understand why Canada is one the wealthiest nations in the world, we need to pay
particular attention to Canada s economic history. The economic history of our country has been
marked by many important events that have paved the way for a successful economic future. A
brief economic history of Canadawould pay particular attention to important events such as the
economic boom of the 1920s, the dark times of the 1930s; the Second World War during the 1940s
and to also not forget the important trade agreements such as the auto pact and the NAFTA. Despite
the above mentioned important events, Canadian economy has also been greatly influenced by its

The increase in employment contributed to an increase in the lifestyles of Canadians. Also
government revenues increased with the expansion of the automobile industry. They had to find a
way to maintain the roads therefore licensing and gas fees were introduced. The automakers did
not only increase the lifestyle of the people in the southern provinces but they had a big impact on
the western provinces also. Agriculture was one of the many industrial sectors that benefited from
the automakers. With cars being built it was now easier for the farmers to sell their products in the
market. They now had a more comfortable way to travel and this made their jobs easier. Also the
introduction of the farm tractors was a big help in the agriculture industry. The farm tractors
increased crop quantities and livestock volume. The tractor was a great invention as it was more
efficient and less time consuming.
One of the negative impacts of the automobile industry in Canada is that of the regional economic
imbalances between the provinces. With the manufacturing being heavily concentrated in Ontario,
the other provinces of Canada do not get the same economic output as Ontario does. Ontario is
considered by far the wealthiest province. The province generates almost 50 percent of Canada s
GDP which translates into a staggering 675 billion dollars. Many

There are a wide variety of ways to illustrate frequency distributions, including histograms,
relative frequency histograms, density histograms, and cumulative frequency distributions.
Histograms show the frequency of elements that occur within a certain range of values, while
cumulative distributions show the frequency of elements that occur below a certain value.
Histograms Frequency Histogram 1. A graphical representation of a single dataset, tallied into
classes. 2. Frequency defined as the number of values that fall into each class. 3. Histogram
consists of a series of rectangles whose widths are defined by the limits of the classes, and
whose heights are determined by the frequency in each interval. 4. Histogram depicts many
attributes of the data, including location, spread, and symmetry. a. No rigid set of rules that
determine the number of classes or class interval. b. Between 5 and 20 classes suitable for most
datasets. c. Equal sized class widths are found by dividing the range by the number of classes. d.
Formal guide by which class intervals can be derived is the formula: K = 1 + 3.3 * log n where
K is the number of classes and n is the number of variables. 5. Relative frequency defined as the
fraction of times the value occurs, or the freuqency of value(s) Г· number of observations in the set.

The beginnings can be traced back to the introduction of the Harlequin frame in 1940. That year,
Lord Taylor, a famous department store in New York City, presented a design award to Altina
Sanders for designing an eyeglass frame shaped much like a theatrical harlequin mask.
The cat eye frame sold exclusively in a few New York City fashion boutiques, but set off a craze for
upswept frames that was widely copied over the next 30 years.
In 1955, American Optical enticed an internationally recognized dress designer named Madam
Schiaparelli to design the first designer frame. It was a rimless mounting sold only in exclusive
optical shops. The exclusivity focused pair of events launched the trend for brand names on frames.
Today, hundreds of frame collections carry brand names. Some are well known designers, some
carry names of celebrities, and some even use names connected with motorcycles or athletic shoes.
The connection between the name and the product may sometimes seem tenuous, but the brands
have been successful. Brand names have dominated the frame market for the past 20 years.
Lenses. It took longer for brand names to impact ophthalmic lenses. Two of the earliest lenses to
earn recognizable brand names were introduced nearly 70 years ago. One was Polaroid sunglasses
and the other was Ray Ban sunglasses. Both brands still exist.

Introduction
Wind power:
Wind is a clean, powerful renewable energy source which can be used to convert the mechanical
energy into electrical energy. Wind power uses large wind turbines rotated by air flow in turn
rotates power generators to generate electricity. Many individual wind turbines can be connected to
an electrical grid to transmit the power. Wind is an inexhaustible energy resource and
environmental friendly compared to fossil fuel which has disastrous effects and finite [2].
Wind Power in Hawaii:
In unites states Hawaii is one of the state that depends mostly on fossil fuels for power generation.

Reflection On Swimming
Introduction
At the beginning of the semester, the health behaviour change I started pursuing is to swim
regularly. My goal of engage in this exercise is to acquire and grasp at least one swimming style
by the end of this semester, and the outcome I expect to obtain from it is the improvement of
physical fitness. Swimming is a strength consuming aerobic exercise that brings a variety benefits
to one s physiological and psychological states. Scholarly research has indicated that swimming
contributes to weight loss and acceleration of illness recovery (Yuan et al., 2016). Also, it can
improve emotional state, physical mobility and functional capacity, all of which can lead to a better
quality of life (Karapolat et al., 2009). Leg arm coordination and neural plasticity were both found
to be correlated with long term swimming behaviour. For aerobic exercises in general, it enhances
pulmonary functions and cognitive functions.

DSTPolicyholders who may otherwise miss out on an incentive such as continuation of cover
through the lapse process could pay back payments via card. This is an area of huge potential
which is currently handled by a manual application and results in a poor return. Policyholders
could make advance payments for a new health cash plan (or any product), enabling them to
secure cover for a set period of time which could be incentivised by immediate benefit.
Policyholders who leave their company could be given the option to pay their corporate rate in
advance for a set period of time (i.e. 12 months). Using the payment by link service, lapse emails
could be sent rather than a lapse letter which would result in a substantial postal and stationary

Essay #1: The Daodejing
In The Daodejing, Laozi, similar to many prominent Chinese philosophers before and after his time,
discusses his unique perspective of the Way. There is much controversy, however, regarding
whether Laozi was the actual author of this text or was even a real person, and his work is
thought to have been a composite. (For the purpose of clarity, throughout this paper, the author(s)
of The Daodejing will be mentioned as Laozi.) Laozi s vision of the Way is exceptionally
challenging to define using words because of its metaphysical nature. Although this term is
somewhat difficult to envision, it is what mankind should aspire and take action to be aligned with.
According to Laozi, in readings in Classical Chinese Philosophy, the Way (or dao) is the source,
sustenance, and ideal state of all things in the world (Laozi 158). It can be best thought of as the
underlying guiding force of all events that occur in the universe, and mankind is closer to the Way
when they realize that all things are interconnected and have an effect on one another. As might be
expected, this vague definition isn t a foolproof depiction of the eighty one chapters in the
Daodejing, but one is able to grasp a basic understanding of Laozi s ineffable doctrine. Although
numerous chapters are meaningful and could provide

Essay On Matching Method
Thank you very much for the points of missing important assumptions and justifications of my
matching method. Although it is commonly used in finance area, I need to understand and consider
these assumptions, limitations, and potential violation(s).
The evaluating causal effect of outside directors dissention on the firm value is difficult, because it
is almost impossible to observe the individual effect. However, it is possible to estimate and
compare the average treatment effect of the event (dissention) and the effect from the control group.
However, as you pointed, the confounding variable might involve in this relation. It is possible a
confounding variable can influence the effect of directors dissention in the same way for all ... Show

This is also reported by two recent studies that a dissention is a function of firm characteristics
(Jiang et al., 2016; Ma and Khanna, 2015). It is also a strong assumption in general because it is
very difficult to find and control all possible confounding variables.
However, with a practical point of view, the conditional independence (or unconfoundedness) is
stronger than the assumption used in statistical software. It means that the treatment does not
influence on the conditional mean of each potential outcomes after controlling the covariates. In
this study, it is possible to show that general firm characteristics are similar between the treatment
group and the control group except firm value. Therefore, it is possible to hold the conditional mean
independent assumption after matching a sample, although it is difficult to hold the conditional
independent assumption.
Another assumption in this approach is the overlap assumption that each firm have a positive
probability of having a dissention. There is no difference in the chance of dissention between a firm
in the treatment group and a firm in the control group. Statistically, it can be tested in a statistical
software. Please see the Stata results using teffects ipw and teffects overlap. Thank you very much
for the points of missing important assumptions and justifications of my matching method.

The first pretzel in the world was created by a monk in Italy around 610. Some say that a pretzel
was initially called a bracellae . Strips of dough are baked by the monk and he folded the strips

Baked pretzels were given to children who were able to memorize and recite the prayer

Evaluation Of A Cooperative Learning Device Essay
For students to receive a more effective and meaningful academic experience, a diverse
pedagogical methodology for enhanced and relevant learning is required. Various strategies are
available to engage adolescent students toward a more fruitful learning experience. The jigsaw
method, a cooperative learning device, is a project based exercise whereby students assume specific
roles for content mastery and conduct tasks with an interdependence on one another for deeper
learning on multiple aspects of a subject toward better comprehension and fully reaching the
intended objectives. This strategy is useful in putting students in an active role while investigating
subject matter. It is also a chance for teachers to allow students to discover and find options to fit
their own learning styles and presentational preferences. Not all teachers prefer this method nor find
it most applicable to their discipline, however. Students often may find that evaluation based on
peer project completion is not representative of their personal abilities. Applied appropriately and
accordingly, the jigsaw method has the potential to create interdisciplinary relevance of the topic,
widen a students breadth of subject analysis, and change their classroom outlook from dread to
enthusiasm.

Alibaba s Dominant Business Model Essay
Alibaba s dominant business model is an exchange. Piccoli, in his textbook, defines exchanges as
Exchanges are organizations that create a marketplace for buyers and sellers to come together and

the exchange provides a market making service and is compensated with fees, commission on sales,

marketplaces provide a platform to facilitate e commerce between business sellers, whom Alibaba
refers to as suppliers , and wholesale buyers. Suppliers and buyers would use the marketplaces to

Producing sustainable competitive advantage through the effective management of people*
Jeffrey Pfeffer
Executive Overview
Achieving competitive success through people involves fundamentally altering how we think about
the workforce and the employment relationship. It means achieving success by working with
people, not by replacing them or limiting the scope of their activities. It entails seeing the
workforce as a source of strategic advantage, not just as a cost ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
The point here is not to throw out conventional strategic analysis based on industrial economics but
simply to note that the source of competitive advantage has always shifted over time. What these
five successful firms tend to have in common is that for their sustained advantage, they rely not on
technology, patents, or strategic position, but on how they manage their workforce.
The Importance of the Workforce and How
It is Managed
As other sources of competitive success have become less important, what remains as a crucial,
differentiating factor is the organization, its employees, and how they work. Consider, for instance,
Southwest Airlines, whose stock had the best return from 1972 to 1992. It certainly did not achieve
that success from economies of scale. In
1992, Southwest had revenues of $1.31 billion and a mere 2.6% of the U.S. passenger market.4
People
Express, by contrast, achieved $1 billion in revenues after only 3 years of operation, not the almost
20 it took Southwest. Southwest exists not because of regulated or protected markets but in spite of
them. During the first three years of its history, no
Southwest planes were flown. 5 Southwest waged a battle for its very existence with competitors

What Role Did Alexander Hamilton Play In The Election Of 1800
Alexander Hamilton played an extremely significant role in the presidential election of 1800.
These were due to Hamilton s opposing beliefs on who he believed should become the next
President. His attempts to persuade everyone were highly successful, due to the fact that his actions
lead to the selection of his bitter, political enemy, Thomas Jefferson, as our nation s third chief
executive, despite the differences they had on political views. However; the outcome of the
election affected not only Hamilton s political career, but, also, his personal life in numerous
ways, as well. The presidential election of 1800 resulted in a dilemma due to the fact there was a

Despite Hamilton s opposing beliefs, his attempts to persuade everyone were highly successful, due
to the fact that his actions lead to the selection of his bitter, political enemy, Thomas Jefferson, as
our nation s third chief executive, despite the differences they had. Hamilton was able to persuade
the House of Representatives to vote for Jefferson over Burr by writing, From Alexander Hamilton
to Harrison Gray Otis. In this letter, Hamilton elaborates on how choosing Jefferson is the best
option because he is the less evil between the two of them. However; the outcome of the election
affected not only Hamilton s political career, but his personal life in numerous ways, as well. As
far as his political career goes, he lost an immense amount of support from the Federalists. This
was due to his pamphlet, Letter from Alexander Hamilton, Concerning the Public Conduct and
Character of John Adams, Esq., which elaborated on why people should not vote for Adams as
president. This was widely circulated by Aaron Burr s, after he lost the presidency run. This was
ultimately the most lethal aspect to Hamilton s political career. Secondly, the Federalists wanted
Burr to win the presidency, due to the fact they thought Jefferson would ruin everything that had
been accomplished within the past twelve years, but Hamilton opposed this. Additionally, Burr
attempted to run as governor in New York, and the New York Federalists were going to vote him
in. However; Hamilton advised everyone not to vote for him, thus; causing Burr to lose, again.
Despite Hamilton not being the only one to go against Burr, Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel,
which, ultimately lead to his death, which ended his personal life. Ultimately, Hamilton s actions in
the election of 1800 lead to the election of Thomas Jefferson as president, but caused a fatal end in

Dr. Mullins Case Study
Allana saw Dr. Mullins six times during the month of March on 03/03/16, 03/07/16, 03/10/16,
03/14/16, 03/21/16 and on 03/28/16. On 03/07/16, Allana told him that her ultimate goal would
be to run longer than 20 minutes without her back buckling . She also explained to him that
high intensity workouts were her favorite. Throughout the month of March, she continued to
have spasms and pain in her upper back, lower back, and in her neck. Her ribs also continued to
be very sore. Her diagnoses on 03/21/16 was pain in the lower back, and muscle spasms in her
back, neck and mid back. Her diagnosis also included segmental and somatic dysfunction of the
head, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, her sacrum and sprain of her ribs. In April, she went
to see Dr. Mullins on 04/04/16 and 04/18/16. By 04/18/16, she was slightly better as far as the
intensity of her pain, but she still had pain and the muscle spasms still plagued her up and down
her spine. Allana was re examined on 05/02/16. She answered... Show more content on

The treatments made her feel better for a short lived duration, but the problems always came
back. She wanted to see another doctor, or a specialist who could provide some answers, but as
a newly married couple, she and Brock did not have the money to pay for the high cost of
medical care. What is painfully clear in her records is that her spine is damaged, and her life has
drastically changed. One day she is doing slightly better, but within a day, or just a few days, she
is not doing so well again. This is so tiring for Allana. She cannot plan ahead or know if she will
have a good day over any weekend to plan something fun. If she happens to have a good day and
takes advantage of it, she ends up having a bad day the next day. If it weren t for this wreck, she
could plan anything she wanted on any day that she wanted without having to worry about whether
or not her body can physically handle

Love In The Poem In William Shakespeare s Meaning Of Love
Initial Thoughts The meaning of this poem didn t immediately grab me until I read the lines
Half drew him in, half lured him in that was when I realized that Goethe was talking about being
lured in by a siren or a nixe. At first the poem speaks to me about love at first sight. That is what I
pulled from it at the beginning but as I said above, that one line threw me into it being about a
siren s song. Luring you in until you get devoured and disappear. Did Goethe love someone that
he would have disappeared with? The siren s song is something anyone could get forced into
and lose themselves. Aspect(s) of Interest Love, that is what interests me the most in this poem.
I m a softy when it comes to love poems, they pull me in. I was surprised that I wouldn t have
chosen a poem from the romantics and didn t go with the classic William Shakespeare, but alas,
the siren s song pulled me in. The fisherman seemed to be living a somewhat happy live fishing
to his heart s content. He also seemed to be day dreaming a bit just staring at the water. Who
wouldn t get pulled into the siren s song? Only Odysseus I have read has ever pulled out of the
grasp of the siren s song. Many people do the same today. Getting sucked into relationships that
they no longer want to be in but seemed to be sucked into staying. Just be Odysseus pull
yourselves out of it and live a better life. Love isn t about being forced into something, you shouldn
t even have to try. Historical Context The age of

Title: How do various mixing methods affect the production of milk fat?
Purpose
The purpose of the experiment was to determine which method of agitation, either shaking, stirring,
whisking, or blending, produced the largest mass of milk fat.
Background InformationProducing butter is a task that can easily be done at home. Butter is one of
the most highly concentrated forms of fluid milk that is made simply by agitating heavy cream
(Douma, 2008). There are several methods of agitation, including shaking, stirring, whisking,
and blending. In this experiment, all four methods were used to determine which mixing
method produced the most milk fat or butter. First of all, in order to understand the making of
butter, one must be familiar with milk and its composition. The components of milk include
87% water, 4% fat, 5% sugar or lactose, 2.6% casein, .7% albumen, and .7% ash (Ross, 1914).
Milk is an emulsion, which is a type of colloid. A colloid is a homogenous mixture in which large
molecules are suspended throughout another substance. Under this category, there are also two
types of emulsions: oil droplets in water or water droplets in oil (BBC, 2014). Milk is an example
of an emulsion of evenly distributed fat particles throughout water. In this experiment, heavy cream
was used because it contains a greater concentration of fat particles in water. However, in order to
keep the particles from separating, emulsifiers are needed to stabilize the mixture (Institute of Food

Pacific Ocean Paradise Analysis
The Pacific Ocean Paradise documentary shows how human impact can cause the ocean to
become in danger by reducing or killing the life in the ocean. The Tahiti reefs shows a great
example how human impact has had a destructive toll on the corals becoming smaller and most
of them dead. But not only are the corals affected but also the sharks became smaller in size and
fewer in number. Today one of the healthiest ecosystem is Millennium Atoll a unique under water
landscape undamaged by the human footprint. Where the corals look like they use to look
hundreds of years ago and ruled by predators but even here there is disturbing evidence of man. To
understand if the ocean is healthy or not, marine ecologist Enric Sala and his team explain how

The women that wanted to stop the ERA was a career woman named Phyllis Schlafly. The Stop ERA started to tell people the things that would be taken away if the ERA was passed and approved by the Congress. Now that the Stop ERA put things in other people s heads they started to worry about more things. They were starting to be scared of losing the freedom that people already did have. There were some things that might have been took away once women got the same freedom as men. Things such as sexual assault and alimony would be swept away. Also they were scared that the tendency for the mother to receive child custody in a divorce case would be eliminated. Another thing people were scared of was the all male military draft would become immediately unconstitutional. Women started to divided by other women. At this point there were more and more states that were going against the amendment. The stop ERA got what they wanted because once they passed the ERA the vote was three states off from being approved. As the PowerPoint notes, we have applied methods derived from research through several modules in this class. Even without realizing it we put several research methods in practice while working with youth. Ongoing research is important for us as youthdevelopment workers to expand our knowledge on positive youth development to reflect the 4 H motto: to make the best better. In 4 H, we train all of our club leaders, project leaders and volunteers on the Ages and Stages research. We train them on this particular research method to help them better understand the youth they will be engaging with. Evidence based research such as Ages and Stages helps youth and adults to gain the most from any learning environment. I love learning about different research methods or theories. I took a research class for my Bachelor s degree. I was the only one in the class that enjoyed it. My interest in research serves a positive influence in my career now. For any programming I offer I give a short evaluation. This helps me learn what could be better for the next time. The evaluations provide feedback for me to help my audience. How healthy a population is, often depends on their overall environment. Poor air quality can cause undesirable health issues among individuals in sensitive portions of the population who are asthmatic, have lung disease, or even cardiovascular conditions. Especially in areas where communities are affected by the outcomes of policies that directly impact the health of individuals, their safety, and other things. These issues often stem from very similar risk factors on multiple levels regarding the individual, inter intrapersonal, community, institutional and policy regulations. In Houston, Texas one of the current issues is air pollution. Several populations are at risk of suffering from an increase in respiratory diseases. The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) brought attention to the issue earlier this year with a four part series of articles. They highlighted an increase in ozonelevels across the city during 2015. It is suggested that this could possibly cause Houston to exceed EPA regulations. Houston and other surrounding areas in Texas need to commit to changes that can lower ozone average levels in 2016. The Importance Of Tourism In Hong Kong Hong Kong has been commonly constructed as and known to both tourists as a thoroughly metropolitan city, of which its modern architecture, especially with its densely populated skyline around the Victoria Harbour, and boisterous and fast paced lifestyle involving non stop eating and shopping take centre stage as a few of Hong Kongs many selling points (Choi, Chan Wu, p 364). Much of Hong Kong s status as an economic success could be attributed to its harbour. After Hong Kong was ceded to the British after the First Opium war with the Chinese Qing dynastyin 1842, the island, which was previously a sleepy collection of fishing villages (Choi, 2007, p.8), became one of Britain s most important trading ports for spices and tea from China (p. 9). The development of Hong Kong under British colonial rule has undoubtedly influenced the character of Hong Kong as a tourist destination, with many of its promoted sites, such as the tramways on Hong Kong Island, the Peak tram up Victoria Peak, and the Star Ferry all being historical modes of public transportation still operating today. This tour will focus on the Star Ferry, exploring its symbolic importance to Hong Kong identity and how past and contemporary events that have occurred in the physical area of the Star Ferry Pier where the ferry operates from have been discursively co opted into, and representative of a greater contestation of hegemonic ideologies surrounding Hong Kong s identity, as part of an opposition ... He advised holding the pan over the fire whilst constantly stirring or shaking the corn and within a few minutes, the popcorn should have turned inside out to reveal the delicious white, fluffy centre. He also mentioned the addition of salt or sugar whilst it was still hot for added flavour. The issue with this particular method however seemed to be with the lard or butter. The butter would usually begin to burn before the pan reached a hot enough temperature and the lard would create popcorn that was covered in slime like grease. Instead of the Apollonian figure emerging from the primordial oneness of existence where opposites would coexist, Lybeaus Desconus systematically slaughters the creatures that represent wildness and restricts notions of beauty. Also government revenues increased with the expansion of the automobile industry. They had to find a way to maintain the roads therefore licensing and gas fees were introduced. Agriculture was one of the many industrial sectors that benefited from the automakers. With cars being built it was now easier for the farmers to sell their products in the market. They now had a more comfortable way to travel and this made their jobs easier. Also the introduction of the farm tractors was a big help in the agriculture industry. The farm tractors increased crop quantities and livestock volume. The tractor was a great invention as it was more efficient and less time consuming. One of the negative impacts of the automobile industry in Canada is that of the regional economic imbalances between the provinces. Swimming is a strength consuming aerobic exercise that brings a variety benefits to one s physiological and psychological states. There is much controversy, however, regarding whether Laozi was the actual author of this text or was even a real person, and his work is thought to have been a composite. (For the purpose of clarity, throughout this paper, the author(s) of The Daodejing will be mentioned as Laozi.) Laozi s vision of the Way is exceptionally challenging to define using words because of its metaphysical nature. Although this term is somewhat difficult to envision, it is what mankind should aspire and take action to be aligned with. According to Laozi, in readings in Classical Chinese Philosophy, the Way (or dao) is the source, sustenance, and ideal state of all things in the world (Laozi 158). It can be best thought of as the underlying guiding force of all events that occur in the universe, and mankind is closer to the Way when they realize that all things are interconnected and have an effect on one another. As might be expected, this vague definition isn t a foolproof depiction of the eighty one chapters in the Daodejing, but one is able to grasp a basic understanding of Laozi s ineffable doctrine. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is also reported by two recent studies that a dissention is a function of firm characteristics (Jiang et al., 2016; Ma and Khanna, 2015). It is also a strong assumption in general because it is very difficult to find and control all possible confounding variables. However, with a practical point of view, the conditional independence (or unconfoundedness) is stronger than the assumption used in statistical software. It means that the treatment does not influence on the conditional mean of each potential outcomes after controlling the covariates. In this study, it is possible to show that general firm characteristics are similar between the treatment group and the control group except firm value. Therefore, it is possible to hold the conditional mean independent assumption after matching a sample, although it is difficult to hold the conditional independent assumption. Another assumption in this approach is the overlap assumption that each firm have a positive probability of having a dissention. • 42. Dr. Mullins Case Study Allana saw Dr. Mullins six times during the month of March on 03/03/16, 03/07/16, 03/10/16, 03/14/16, 03/21/16 and on 03/28/16. On 03/07/16, Allana told him that her ultimate goal would be to run longer than 20 minutes without her back buckling . She also explained to him that high intensity workouts were her favorite. Throughout the month of March, she continued to have spasms and pain in her upper back, lower back, and in her neck. Her ribs also continued to be very sore. Her diagnoses on 03/21/16 was pain in the lower back, and muscle spasms in her back, neck and mid back. Her diagnosis also included segmental and somatic dysfunction of the head, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, her sacrum and sprain of her ribs. In April, she went to see Dr. Mullins on 04/04/16 and 04/18/16. By 04/18/16, she was slightly better as far as the intensity of her pain, but she still had pain and the muscle spasms still plagued her up and down her spine. Allana was re examined on 05/02/16. She wanted to see another doctor, or a specialist who could provide some answers, but as a newly married couple, she and Brock did not have the money to pay for the high cost of medical care. What is painfully clear in her records is that her spine is damaged, and her life has drastically changed. One day she is doing slightly better, but within a day, or just a few days, she is not doing so well again. This is so tiring for Allana. She cannot plan ahead or know if she will have a good day over any weekend to plan something fun. If she happens to have a good day and takes advantage of it, she ends up having a bad day the next day. If it weren t for this wreck, she could plan anything she wanted on any day that she wanted without having to worry about whether or not her body can physically handle ... • 43. Love In The Poem In William Shakespeare s Meaning Of Love Initial Thoughts The meaning of this poem didn t immediately grab me until I read the lines Half drew him in, half lured him in that was when I realized that Goethe was talking about being lured in by a siren or a nixe. At first the poem speaks to me about love at first sight. That is what I pulled from it at the beginning but as I said above, that one line threw me into it being about a siren s song. Luring you in until you get devoured and disappear. Did Goethe love someone that he would have disappeared with? The siren s song is something anyone could get forced into and lose themselves. Aspect(s) of Interest Love, that is what interests me the most in this poem. I m a softy when it comes to love poems, they pull me in. I was surprised that I wouldn t have chosen a poem from the romantics and didn t go with the classic William Shakespeare, but alas, the siren s song pulled me in. The fisherman seemed to be living a somewhat happy live fishing to his heart s content. He also seemed to be day dreaming a bit just staring at the water. Who wouldn t get pulled into the siren s song? Only Odysseus I have read has ever pulled out of the grasp of the siren s song. Many people do the same today. Getting sucked into relationships that they no longer want to be in but seemed to be sucked into staying. Just be Odysseus pull yourselves out of it and live a better life. Love isn t about being forced into something, you shouldn t even have to try. Historical Context The age of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Explain How Do Various Mixing Methods Affect The... Title: How do various mixing methods affect the production of milk fat? Purpose The purpose of the experiment was to determine which method of agitation, either shaking, stirring, whisking, or blending, produced the largest mass of milk fat. Background InformationProducing butter is a task that can easily be done at home. Butter is one of the most highly concentrated forms of fluid milk that is made simply by agitating heavy cream (Douma, 2008). There are several methods of agitation, including shaking, stirring, whisking, and blending. In this experiment, all four methods were used to determine which mixing method produced the most milk fat or butter. First of all, in order to understand the making of butter, one must be familiar with milk and its composition. The components of milk include 87% water, 4% fat, 5% sugar or lactose, 2.6% casein, .7% albumen, and .7% ash (Ross, 1914). Milk is an emulsion, which is a type of colloid. A colloid is a homogenous mixture in which large molecules are suspended throughout another substance. Under this category, there are also two types of emulsions: oil droplets in water or water droplets in oil (BBC, 2014). Milk is an example of an emulsion of evenly distributed fat particles throughout water. In this experiment, heavy cream was used because it contains a greater concentration of fat particles in water. However, in order to keep the particles from separating, emulsifiers are needed to stabilize the mixture (Institute of Food ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
