I suggested that the large-scale observation and analysis of human behaviour may be reconfiguring exercise activity as labour. I draw on theories of "digital labour" to discuss the ways in which work is being transformed in contemporary advanced capitalism. Building on this analysis, it will be proposed that a thermodynamic model of the exploitation of potential energy underlies the interest that corporations have shown in self-tracking.

- 2. Bronze welding is a process used to join metals. The edges of the metal are heated to a temperature below their melting point and a bronze alloy is simultaneously melted and caused to flow over the edges and join with them.
- 3. Acetylene(colour coded red) is stored as a liquid solution that lets off a gas vapour. Oxygen(colour coded black) is stored as a gas under pressure. When these two gases combine and burn together they reach a temperature of 3500 degrees Celsius.
- 5. Regulator controls the pressure of the gases. These are all pre set, but check first A Flint striker is used to ignite the acetylene gas.
- 6. Brazing Flux forms a gaseous shield to prevent oxides from forming while the metal is heated. Bronze alloy is melted over the metals, joining them.
- 7. Colour coded hose fitted with a non return valve carries gas from tanks to welding torch. Colour coded tanks store the gas.

- 10. 1. Knobs turned off 2. Turn Acetylene control on (red), light the torch and adjust the valve until black smoke disappears. 3. Bring in oxygen (black) till cone is bright blue and sharp. This is the neutral flame
