Bonus Merit System

Online Bonus Merit Module
Our online bonus merit system provides
organizations with the ability to auto-
mate the bonus and merit process within
their organization; thereby reducing the
time taken to calculate, validate and
award bonuses or merit increases. The sys-
tem facilitates proactive communication
between the manager and the
employee and can be used to document
meetings and discussions that have
transpired. Such a capability provides an
audit trail in case there is a dispute
regarding an employee’s bonus or merit
increase. To manage the system, different
levels of access are provided. The bonus
merit administrators have full access to all
sys- tem features and capabilities; the
bonus merit human resource users have a
limited access to the employee
information; and the managers only have
the ability to view information within their
organizational hierarchy.
The first line manager has access to the
manager summary screen to see
summary information for their direct
reports and make merit and bonus
recommendations for all employees who
report to them. Additionally, they can
click on an employee name to see the
employee detail screen for that
employee to make recommendations for
each employee individually.
This allows the manager to have access
to the employees previous bonus and
merit information together with annual
salary, wage type, employee work status
such as part time or full time, determine if
the employee is eligible for a bonus or
merit, employee performance rating and
standard bonus percentage and merit
amounts. The managers also have the
ability to view bonus and merit
recommendations that are pending sub-
mission for approval. If a fixed bonus pool
is established for the managers, merit and
bonus recommendations made by the
mangers automatically decrease the
funds available in the bonus pool.
The Second Line Manager Main Menu is broken
into two sections – the Direct Report
Recommendations Area and the Review and
Approvals Area can use the Review and
Approvals area of the screen to review Merit and
Bonus recommendations made by their reporting
managers for their employees. The managers has
the ability to approve recommendations with or
without changing individual recommendations;
drill down to individual employee
recommendations and modify one or more Merit
or Bonus amounts before approving; and/or
create reports to compare recommendations and
allocation of pools across their managers and their
direct reports.
Any manager above the first line manager in the
hierarchy may review and change
recommendations for any employees in their
chain of command. Pool information for second
line managers and above is broken into two bonus
pools – the first is for their direct reports only, the
second is the accumulation of all pools for all
managers in their hierarchy which includes their
direct report pool amounts. When managers
assign Merit and Bonus recommendations to their
employees, their pools are decreased
accordingly.

you to allocate bonus and merits to
employees in a systematic and orderly
method. The bonus merit system allows
you to track how much is being awarded
to each employee and to verify that
each manager has not exceeded their
budget.

manager in an organized fashion. As a

Administrators can turn on/off fields and
support staff with ad-hoc views.

Automatically calculate bonus and
merit pools - When recommendations
are submitted, the system will
recalculate the bonus and merit pool
information thereby allowing the second
line managers to know how much of
their pool is remaining and can be
awarded to their direct reports. Pools are
recalculated once a recommendation is
made and the remaining pool amounts
are displayed in both dollars and
percentages to assist the manager in
ensuring they are achieving their
company targets.

  • 9. 9 Bonus Merit System Knovada Bonus Merit Benefits Online Bonus Merit Module Our online bonus merit system provides organizations with the ability to auto- mate the bonus and merit process within their organization; thereby reducing the time taken to calculate, validate and award bonuses or merit increases. The sys- tem facilitates proactive communication between the manager and the employee and can be used to document meetings and discussions that have transpired. Such a capability provides an audit trail in case there is a dispute regarding an employee’s bonus or merit increase. To manage the system, different levels of access are provided. The bonus merit administrators have full access to all sys- tem features and capabilities; the bonus merit human resource users have a limited access to the employee information; and the managers only have the ability to view information within their organizational hierarchy. The first line manager has access to the manager summary screen to see summary information for their direct reports and make merit and bonus recommendations for all employees who report to them. Additionally, they can click on an employee name to see the employee detail screen for that employee to make recommendations for each employee individually. This allows the manager to have access to the employees previous bonus and merit information together with annual salary, wage type, employee work status such as part time or full time, determine if the employee is eligible for a bonus or merit, employee performance rating and standard bonus percentage and merit amounts. The managers also have the ability to view bonus and merit recommendations that are pending sub- mission for approval. If a fixed bonus pool is established for the managers, merit and bonus recommendations made by the mangers automatically decrease the funds available in the bonus pool. The Second Line Manager Main Menu is broken into two sections – the Direct Report Recommendations Area and the Review and Approvals Area can use the Review and Approvals area of the screen to review Merit and Bonus recommendations made by their reporting managers for their employees. The managers has the ability to approve recommendations with or without changing individual recommendations; drill down to individual employee recommendations and modify one or more Merit or Bonus amounts before approving; and/or create reports to compare recommendations and allocation of pools across their managers and their direct reports. Any manager above the first line manager in the hierarchy may review and change recommendations for any employees in their chain of command. Pool information for second line managers and above is broken into two bonus pools – the first is for their direct reports only, the second is the accumulation of all pools for all managers in their hierarchy which includes their direct report pool amounts. When managers assign Merit and Bonus recommendations to their employees, their pools are decreased accordingly.
  • 10. 10 Bonus Merit System - Continued The Knovada bonus merit system allows you to allocate bonus and merits to employees in a systematic and orderly method. The bonus merit system allows you to track how much is being awarded to each employee and to verify that each manager has not exceeded their budget. Ability to submit to next level manager for approval - The allows you to submit your bonus and merit suggestions to your manager in an organized fashion. As a manager you can provide comments to explain the salary and bonus recommendations you are making. Easily view pending actions - The system allows you to view all pending bonus or merit actions in which you as a manger are required to review or provide a response. Easily view completed actions - The system allows you to view all completed requests and to view the requests and comments provided View system generated manager specific emails - Emails that are generated by the bonus merit system are recorded and kept for viewing by the manager and for historical record keeping. Generic and custom reporting - The system allows you the ability to run standard reports that are provided with the system. Additionally, you can create your own custom reports and save them for future reporting. Management is provided top down viewing capability. Administrators can turn on/off fields and support staff with ad-hoc views. First line manager main menu summary screen - Provides the first line manager with a dash- board view of their recommendations, pending actions, completed actions, notifications, re- ports, merit pool information, and bonus pool information. The manager can make bonus and merit recommendations based upon their targets and pool allocations Second line manager main menu summary screen - Provides the first line manager with a dashboard view of their recommendations, pending actions, completed actions, notifications, reports, merit pool information, and bonus pool information. Additionally, the manager can view bonus and merit recommendations and pool of their subordinate managers. There is al- so an area to view approved and pending approval recommendations. The manager can make bonus and merit recommendations based upon their targets and pool allocations. Automatically calculate bonus and merit pools - When recommendations are submitted, the system will recalculate the bonus and merit pool information thereby allowing the second line managers to know how much of their pool is remaining and can be awarded to their direct reports. Pools are recalculated once a recommendation is made and the remaining pool amounts are displayed in both dollars and percentages to assist the manager in ensuring they are achieving their company targets.
