Who is Sherry Simmons?
Sherry started fund raising when
she was 12 years old, in her
hometown of Waukegan, Illinois.
She held a penny carnival in her
front yard, recruited classmates
as volunteers, raised $4.87
and proudly presented the
entire amount to the hospital
in which she was born. She got
her photo on the front page
of the local newspaper, and
knew she was infected with the
spirit of giving. She has over 35 years of experience in
all aspects of nonprofit management and leadership.
Prior to forming her original consulting in October
1997, Sherry had served as Executive Director with
numerous organizations throughout the country: The
Support Network for Battered Women, Mountain View,
CA; Oklahoma Alliance Against Drugs and Children’s
Medical Research in Oklahoma; March of Dimes in many
locations; and many rounds as an interim Executive
Director with nonprofit agencies. Since the summer of
2007,SherryservedasDirectorofResourceDevelopment
with the Northern California Community Loan Fund in
San Francisco, leaving full time employment with them
in late June, 2014.
