1. NICOLA LINDSAY
She was born in London and grew up in Cambridge before moving to Dublin and
then Nigeria for five years. She didn't start writing seriously until she was well into
fifties. She had previously worked as a nurse, a plant grower and a flautist! Her first
children's book, Batty Cat, was followed by a book of poetry, Lines of Thought, and
then five novels, all published in Ireland; also one of them in Germany and one in
the US. One, Diving through Clouds, was chosen by Readers' Digest Select Editions
and was translated into five languages. She then wrote another quirky children's
book, My Magic Place, which was illustrated by the artist Miranda Roberts.
She now lives in County Kildare, sixty kilometers from Dublin. As an actor as well
as a script writer she thoroughly enjoys the contrast between the two. One of her
three daughters trained as an actor before moving behind the camera and many of
her first monologues were written. She has recently become a granny - twice - and
is finding this a new and delightful experience! She’s been meaning to get books
onto Kindle for some time but kept getting distracted. She just completed fifteen
months cancer treatment and she want to just get on with her life. So, to celebrate,
she now have six novels available on Kindle and hope to get the other two up and
running as soon as possible.
Her novels are all very different and weren't written with any specific targeted
readership in mind - they were just stories she wanted to tell in the best way she
could in the hope that they would prove enjoyable to as many people as possible of
all ages.
