dramatically changing for the first time in several decades. That last external force
that transformed enterprise networks was distributed computing (LANs) and the
Internet (TCP/IP). Today, three mega forces – cloud, mobile and IoT – are
converging. Cradlepoint is poised to capitalized on this disruption.

13. Here’s why. In the beginning, companies with remote sites either dialed up or accessed
their data center via the Internet. But as security issues increased, network operators
responded with [click] Private Networks. And as mobility [click] increased, whether by
smartphones, tablets, or fleets of vehicles, Mobile Private Networks were needed, so
operators responded. So far, so good. But when large Enterprises wanted to utilize [click]
multiple networks, whether for coverage or cost reasons, that increased complexity,
granted, mostly for them, since they had to manage Private Network connections for each
operator. That was manageable for two or maybe three operators, [click] but as the work-
from-home trend accelerated, this approach became a real challenge. [click] And when you
add International users and locations, it not only multiplies the complexity, it can be
incredibly expensive considering roaming charges. But beyond cost and complexity, the
advent of [click] cloud applications has introduced a significant performance problem, since
it’s just not practical to hairpin that traffic through the corporate data center back to the
user and expect any sort of productivity. And if that isn’t enough, when you add the [click]
Internet of Things into the mix, the perfect storm is complete. When you think about the
sheer volume of billions of devices with non-standard operating systems and varied access
methods like unsecured WiFi, you come to the conclusion that a new paradigm is required.
