Yamaha is a company known for motorcycles and other motor vehicles. It entered the scooter segment in an effort to expand its business. This study analyzes how this move might impact customer perceptions of Yamaha. It conducted a survey of 100 people ages 18-45 at SRM University to understand how gender, age and other factors relate to perceptions of Yamaha scooters. The study found that students prefer scooters more than other groups. It was unclear if Yamaha could succeed in scooters. Most felt Yamaha's market share of motorcycles would be impacted. The study provides suggestions for Yamaha to target different groups with scooters while maintaining its motorcycle business.
